    Hi Hyena,

We discussed the equipment in this thread:
    http://motorpsycho.fix.no/comeonin/forums/topic.php?id=259

Snah's live-gear (specially his amps) will evolve every tour and he probably replace some pedals of his set-up along the way,
so I don't know what he will use on the upcoming Supersilent/Motorpsycho tour in Norway.

As you can see from this picture from the '08 tour:
    http://www.flickr.com/photos/alsterstar/2541240342/in/set-72157605371540439/

opposed to a picture from the '09 tour:
    http://www.flickr.com/photos/40148927@N03/4132778742/

you'll notice that he left out the (Ibanez or Maxon?) Tubescreamer, changed the Roland Space Echo for a Carl Martin DeLayla XL and added a Ampeg Scrambler Fuzz and a miscellaneous (black) pedal.

    -3x Boss FS 5L foot-switches
    -Carl Martin DeLayla XL
-Boss RC 20 XL Phraser Loopstation
    -Korg DT-10 Chromatic Digital FloorTuner
    -? Distortion?
    -Xotic RC Booster
    -Ampeg Scrambler Fuzz (1969?)
    -Lehle Dual Amp Switcher
    -Option5 Destination Rotation Single
    -Chicago Iron Parachute Wah
    + power supply.

Who knows what this miscellaneous pedal is?
I don't know what other pedals he use in the studio.

Check out the guitar rig database http://www.guitargeek.com to find out what other guitarists use.

    From this tour:
I'm not sure which is which, but these are the pedals they used at the Alta-gig..
    Bent (I think):

    And Snah:

I just watched this demo of Snah's Ampeg Scrambler. Think I gotta search for it. I've got that Fender VI Bass, too but no cool distorting it. This sounds like teh thing.

@TraktorBass: You've got them right, I think. Bent always uses that Foxx. He used to use a Morley as a fuzz/wah, if memory serves.

  7. @ Supernaut; I gotta say...that pedal sounds bloody awful! Perhaps it's just the quality of the sound on the vid, but man....kinda glad i don't have that one

@ Traktorbass: I think you're right....i took some pics of their gear at the Driv gig (they came out rather dark and blurry tho), but judging by my pics, and where they were standing, you're right.

Cool that Bent is using the Micro Pog!

Well I like the sound he gets on the first lick he plays on the VI bass. It's kinda hollow, fender style, and gnarly. If that's the correct english word. With my otherwise beloved v-twin (great for stingray bass and ampeg tube amp) I have to find this sound yet.

    This one's nice:

at 1'18" how you can blend in the distortion. You get (or don't lose) a good definition within the distortion sound.

mmmmmm micro pog, never knew about this.

wow, Rush, REM and Pearl Jam riffs and the organ sound towards the end of this demo, they all sound quite baffeling.

  10. The foxx fuzz/wah is Bents backup. The EHX crying tone has always been the main fuzz/wah. It's also modded with some snacks

And of course Jan Tore is right again. What are you, their guitar & bass tech?

Electro-Harmonix, of course! Where did I get that Morley story then? Hmmm, must go over my facts again!

Didn't he use to have a Big Muff?

Yes and no. A Big Muff is incorporated into the Muff Fuzz.

    See: http://motorpsycho.fix.no/thisis/media/arniart1_01_ger.htm

Quote: "For effects, Bent only uses a Electro Harmonix Muff-Fuzz floor unit."

Hey, cool article, never seen that one before, thanks!

Has the Psychobird ever been used live? Or on a recording?
I bet there would be some pretty sweet harmonics going on.

This drove me crazy, but seeing the picture I found out why I thought it was a Morley: it looks like one!

    Electro-Harmonix Muff Fuzz Crying Tone:

    Some Morley wah/fuzz pedals:

Okay, it looks like one a bit.

I think I have seen the Psychobird in concert during "Suite: LLM". But, as this thread again proves, my memory might be at fault here!

Not really an effect, but does anyone know what kind of 4-track Bent is using?

    Posted 3 months ago #
  19. Haha, no I'm not their tech, but I have worked with them once in Trondheim, and I am way above average interested in vintage musical equipment. I actually witnessed the modding of the crying tone, it has a mxr noise gate circuit and a buffer built in, if my memory serves me right. I've doodled around with some of their gear from time to time, but don't tell them. Haha. To take the geekiness to another level, my hiwatt custom 100 has the same mods as Snah and Bents. Or should I say, their hiwatts are modded to my amps specs :p

@ Traktorbass: Nope, not sure at all!

    @ Elco: Wouldn't know, sorry!

@ Jan Tore: Aaahh, that explains it! What mods are in their Hiwatts? I love those things, I want to have one when (if?) I grow up!
