I hate Pink Floyd
March 20, 2005 11:54PM
I would like to know why it is that the foolish and boring band Pink Floyd has such a great influence on people around the world???... yes,yes.. Another Brick In The Wall was indeed a fine tune... but come on.. after 2 hours of crap piano and symphony noices, it starts to become a bit boring. Anyone with an seventies roland keybord and a bit of LSD could do the same, exept the music sucks so much that nobody bothers..

so cut the final cut and wake up vankers....

"The Dark Side Of The Moon" indeed is great. MUCH greater than the Wall. I know that, I own both of these records. Ha! smiling smiley

(conclusion: Pink. Floyd. does. not. suck.)

laura - apart from syd barrett (who left the band after their first album), none of the band members took LSD more than twice ever.

apparantly, you don't like to listen to this band. that's fair enough to me, but please get your facts correct.

also, where can i find your true masterpiece?

jonne - Sorry about the LSD,offcourse i dont have my facts right.
i am not really interrested in the band Pink Floyd - all i do, really - is listening. to me it basicly just sounds like drugs, egotrips and instruments... sorry.. they may have a political point of view, but the music is closed somehow, and it just goes on and on and on and on.

I listen to all music... a masterpiece? hmm.

i just like a red line.

You can't take anyone serious who says they hate Pink Floyd but thinks Another Brick is a fine tune... If you want commercial top 20 music, I don't think Floyd is the right band to listen to.

By the way, the older, the better floyd imo.

Yes, the music is closed, ego-tripping and goes on and on and on. So what? That´s great sometimes

Maybe try "Echoes" from the "Meddle"-Album. My favourite Floyd-Tune. (But caution: it´s closed, ego-tripping and really goes on and on and on...)

i´d say as well that "another brick..." or the whole "wall" thing is not that exciting. wish you were here, dark side etc. is more the stuff you need.

I agree that they are overrated most of the time and only few things are interresting. Their stuff after "Dark side of the moon" has surely a commercial potential and could be called easy-listening-rock.
There are better bands who can make this ego-tripping, closed music which goes on and on. CAN for instance, a great band, also one of the best live-bands I guess. The right thing to start with are the early tunes like "Soundtracks" or the first 4 songs of the 2LP "Tago Mago"! And they have put out an official bootleg which is called "Can Box". The first disc is incredible!!!

...incredible yes, as well as very_pink_floyd-ish if i might add. that "vernal equinox" track is pure "echos"-era floyd to these ears, which is where the circle closes, lol! can rules! as do the floyd! :-)

i never liked 'dark side of the moon' very much. maybe 'meddle' was the last interesting one. but i loved 'animals', the album with the pig and the one before that (musically) awsome 'the wall', which is very dark and in that case i can not agree with the term easy-listening-rock.

can was/is great (michael karoli was a fantastic guitar player. if you listen - for example-to mary, so contrary you know what i mean). and a lot of other so called krautrock bands, like faust, ash ra tempel, tangerine dream or neu!, too. unbelievable what kind of music, what a special sound and atmosphere they created. if you are curious about all these bands i recommend to read julian cope's book 'krautrocksampler'. it exists in english and in german.

i really can't stand DSOTM, sadly. it just doesn't work for me. i really love their debut, though; the piper at the gates of dawn. it pleases my psychedelic mind winking smiley

A Saucerful of Secrets is absolutly one of the best albums from the 60's!

It even inspired Geb in his little tune called A Saw Sage Full of Secrations... Not to be compared musically though.
