I really like Pink Floyd. Or, some of it. I actually like the "Wish you were here" album best. Don't know why, really... I've heard all of their records, but that one just sticks with me. "Dark side of the moon" is good as well. "The piper..." is quite average I think. Some of the songs are ok, but hey - what's that "I wanna ride my bicycle"-shit?? Hate that one... "Doctor Hoffman's bicycle" is way better :-)

You hate Pink Floyd. Waaa. Get Over it. I hate Sara Jesica Parker (I think she is butt-ugly) but she's still makin' millions.

BTW Interstellar Overdrive changed my life. It made me realize that music was so much more than verse / chorus / verse / middle eight / verse / chorus > out. Even most jams are based on Pentatonic scales. Throw out the rules and go where your heart leads.

BTW 2. The Wall Sucks. It should be delivered with a gun with one bullet in it. Has a more depressing statement of music ever been crafted?

i still think you cannot speak of 1 pink floyd. There are so many. The 60's Floyd, the 70's floyd and off course the 80's crap. I really really like Live At Pompei, i think it is one of the best music DVD's ever. From the albums i don't know, too many brilliant stuff.

Pink Floyd was and is such a great band. For me everything they did until the wall is fabulous.But also there are several songs on the wall album that are not too bad.
I agree that the 80's were crap. But on the other side there are also a few songs on their last record which aren't that bad. (Not to compare whit earlier records of 60's and 70's but still)
But however. Everyone has his own opinion and that's what makes themes so interesting.
Those guys who hate Pink Floyd, let those hate them.I don't mind at all. To all the other people I'll say: Let them eat cake :-)

just bought a cool dvd: classic albums, the making of the dark side of the moon. Very interesting, and you can really see how great the band was at the time. Love em. And, in march i am going to see Daid Gilmour!

try listening to: "pipers at the gates of dawn"!!this is truely a great album.they lost more than a guitarist when they lost Syd Barrett.i believe they lost the magnificent sound only he could create.and most of his songs are work of a genious. ...and a hail to the syd...

if you check out 'piper' try to find a mono copy. the mix on this is superior to the stereo version. it is my understanding that the mono mix was done with considerable input from syd/the band whereas they had no input on the stereo mix, which i find very dull in comparison.
the 97 mono cd issue is out of print, but it seems to be quite common on ebay/fairs/2nd hand stores etc.

Bands like Pink Floyd shouldn't even be consireded rock bands, their idiotic sound is just cheap music and doesn't have any quallity. If they survived all those years it was because of seldeluded and pretencious hippies. Things like Pink Floyd or modern "cheap" art just harm the art. They should never have become musicians, maybe gardeners or architects but never musicians. Thankfuly many people around the world are realizing this, if people would have been more sencere and less pretencious Pink caca Floyd would never have been known.

well i like some cds - dark side of the moon ......
and i have to admit that i bougt the new dvd Pulse (concert of i think 1994) and never seen such a boombastic lightshow - very impressive
but in my opinion thats too much -- music should always count more than the show

be brave and look past the famous but bloated crap they did since Dark Side of the Moon (with the exception of Animals) and listen to the early records like More, Meddle, Piper at the Gates of Dawn, Obscured by Clouds, Ummagumma and you might learn something.
Or get their Pompeii DVD. You can't hate that and like Motorpsycho.
