cake 2000 compilation
November 10, 2006 09:30AM
i know it is a long shot probably but i am really curious about the Cake 2000 5 cd set. The Trust Us Tour compilation is great, so i guess that one must be too. I there anyone who has it?

Strange thing is, the more great boots are being uploaded the more hungry i am for more....

I guess it has something to do with having to wait for more official live releases for so long.

Yeah!

There's been lots of uploaded stuff this last months, thanks to everybody! A wish-list would be long as a bad year, but the 2000-compilation would be brilliant, a classic Rockefeller '97 as well... Anyone?

Yeah, the Motorpsycho-floodgates really have opened on Dime.

And not to brag, but I feel partially responsible for it. About a year and a half ago
I uploaded a 2002 MP gig there primarily because I wanted to boost my
share ratio on Dime (had just become a member there). Suffice to say that my
share ratio sky-rocketed. And I also found out that only 1 or 2 MP gigs had
been torrented there previously.

So these are good times for collecting MP-bootlegs.

which 2002 gig did you upload?

And yes, these are good times for collecting MP-bootlegs. What surprises me is the difference in sound- quality. Looks like some guys know very well to record. For instance the Paradiso 2006 gig, wow, great sound. And there are more with stunning sound. I like that.

What i like about the complilations is that these are the absolute best and most interesting from a tour you can get. Rather a 5 disc compilation than ten complete concerts i guess. Or both.

It was the 16-04-2002 Zurich gig. If anyone's up for it, I could do a re-seed.
It's a very good gig (the spring 2002 tour was in my opinion very good stuff)

Bittorrent is brilliant. I still remember the days when we copied cassette tapes and snail-mailed to each other.... Not that long ago, actually...

Btw, to further confirm that Dime is a nice place to be for MP-collectors,
kisshermind uploaded a Tussler DVD (the only one in existence, actually):

One question, what does the share ratio have to say? Do you benefit from having a good share ratio? Mine's 1.25 with 17GB uploaded so I suppose I don't have anything to worry about?
Re: cake 2000 compilation

Your share-ratio has to be over 0.25 in order for you do download
*anything*. The higher your share ratio, the more you can download without
worrying about anything.

And apart from that it's sportmansship, friendliness, kindness, good manners etc etc. Your supposed to share amongst friends and fellow fans, right?

After a bit of fumbling and e-mail correspondance with the Dime-mods grinning smiley,
here's the Zurich torrent:

Enjoy!

great! I am downloading now. Looks like a very good set, with quite a few songs they didn't play that much during that tour. I am especially curious about Giftland.

I was some what amazed to read you thought the Paradiso gig 2006 was recorded so well. Maybe there are more than one recoding of the gig, or maybe it is better than the rest of the stuff you have. But the one I have doesn't come near to The Rockefeller '01 gig I have or the 013 '01 gig.

Are there different recordings of the Paradiso gig of this year?

you are comparing radio to audience recordings, that is like comparing apples & oranges = not fair. for a MP audience recording paradiso 06 sounds comparetively good.

No, i think it sound amazlingly good. Just like, for instance, Molde Jazz. Very good.

I used to listen to a lot of Nirvana and Smashing Pumpkins bootlegs. No bootleg from Nirvana i own is soundwise as good as most Motorpsycho bootlegs.
Re: cake 2000 compilation

then again most MP audience recordings sound like shit when compared to audience recordings made for example in the jamband scene. i guess it's combination of music-style, character of the venues they play & price of the equipment that makes our MP recordings sound like amateur-boots. it's simply impossible to capture the bass in K9 in a small club with a low-key MD-player in good quality. just check out this randomely chosen audience source http://www.archive.org/details/sci2003-04-25.shnf and you'll hear a sound-quality like you will never hear on a MP recording. i do not mean to belittle menno's efforts, or any other taper's, i am also saying this about my very own MP/TITS recordings. it's just so hard to produce a truely execellent audience recording and unfortunately our MP tapes are a far cry from the best ever audiences i have in my collection.
