Favourite lyric piece
January 03, 2007 02:23AM
I'm not sure if this is my favourite piece of MP-lyric, but I just can't get this one out of my head:

"The only place ifound myself was boys from fight in a men's room stall, drencing alcohol"

Well, err, heh... I just foud out that it is actually:
"the only place I found myself was
poised for flight in a mensroom stall
drenched in alcohol"

Anyways, have any of you misheared any of MP's lyrics ever? Or is there any piece you really get stuck and rrrrreeeeeeally LIKE?

The first thing i think of is:

Knick knack paddywhack
give the dog a bone
running with the pack
getting wasted ; getting...

Chrystal candy,bad tattoos
diet Coke and Disney blues
I'm so tired
- kick off in the void -
let's get some weed and chill out to Pink Floyd

Ok, it's not just a line, but probably my favorite MP lyric piece, especially since after this part the brilliant outtro is up. Also one of the songs and friend of mine and me listened to a lot in the period we used to smoke a lot of weed.

I'd go for the Other Fool too.. and not only that bit, but the whole song actually.
but also....

- "come on in to ... this void I call my castle"
- the whole "Junior"
- of course "It feels so good to feel again"
- this and that out of the Wheel (cant decide)
- all of "The Golden Core"
- and lots and lots more... smiling smiley

Too much great stuff to choose from. And right now I'm lazy, but the lyrics to "Un chien d'espace" are a stroke of genius.

there's so much..

the wheel:

'bird has flown
it's eggs are cold and rotting
feeling like your soul dying ,dead & cold
put on your travelling boots & start walking
that dirtroad- its mud and its tiretracks
is as long as a lifetime in these parts'

especially this part, its hard to seperate the lyric from the build up
in the song.

the entire watersound

i could probably pick a couple from each cd..

on the bh/bc album i think it may be coalmine pony:

'a coalmine pony would bolt and run
if he ever got to see the sun
a coalmine pony would freeze an stay
having never experienced the pure white light of day'

i love the groove in that song.

before i read the lyrics i thought demonbox went
'i need you like i need bad dreams'
and it really, really made sense to me. stating that i need you
to show me whats wrong,
so i was disappointed when i read the bluntness of the actual lyrics,
though they'r way cool.

This is somewhat different from most other MP songs lyric-wise, I feel. This has a bit of Bjørneboe's novel "Haienene" ("The Sharks"winking smiley or maybe more, and it might even be that the lyrics are from Conrad's novel with the same title;

"Taifun"

Shine brave captain
You'll do the right thing when
You put the wrong thing right

They'll never smell your fear....

I like this one:

another pick up
another lonely heart to break
another sad girl
11th on the list

It’s such a boost to the ego,man!
and such a bite to the feeding hand ;
she’ll never belive you again....

-But what does Bent mean by "Flick of the wrist"? Is it just a way to describe how easy the person has to pick up girls? Is this how he feels after picking up girls, "this person"... ...who has 11 girls on his list. I really thought that being a star in the greatest band on earth would give you more cred among the opposite sex... I think Bent wrote this early on in his career...

Flick of the Wrist could also just be a reference to
the Queen song from the Sheer Heart Attack album. They
also covered Sheer Heart Attack (the song) on the springtour.

And they did start performing this as early as 1994, so Bent
probably wrote the lyrics to it around 93/94 when he still had
the ambitions of becoming a big star. The lyrics could also be
referring to the hype that MP and Seigmen were getting mid-90´s.
Both bands were hailed as the next big thing, and none really
got the fame, fortune and pussy that rock stardom usually brings :-)
