I don´t know the new drummer but I never found my way to Jacco´s playing. There were some cool moments here and there but overall he didn´t really do it for Motorpsycho.
So I´m looking forward to this collaboration!

I actually like that picture since it's Gate and I truly love that band and their chick singer ;-)

Is it really true Gate split up? I read on their site they were taking a break. And since most of their forum is Norwegian I couldn't find anymore information on this subject.

The drumming on Gate's Iselilja album is really great so I wouldn't worry too much, Mountaintop.

Sounds like an all-round guy, which is great for Motorpsycho.

I liked the work Jacco did. I thought his sparse drumwork live left a lot of room for Bent and Snah to let go. On BH/BC the drumming for "You Lose" is great, imho.

I hope he stays a bit with Motorpsycho, so that more fans than the ones lucky enough to go to the festivals get to see/hear him and we can judge for ourselves.

Cheery-o,

Thomas

Aprox. translation:

Kenneth Kapstad on drums for Motorpsycho

Kenneth Kapstad is ready for the biggest legends in Norwegian rock, Motorpsycho. He has been their drummer since February. Now five Festivals are waiting. Motorpsycho's Hans Magnus Ryan, better known as Snah, is generous when he's describing the drummer wonderboy from Løkken [small village a bit south of Trondheim]: - Kenneth was our first choice. The only one we called. This is going to be fantastic! He's got a catching energy which sets time and space in motion. He shoots himself further into the music. Kenneth himself is looking forward to his fourth Storåsfestival [just a few miles from Løkken, his home village] in four years. "Fun" is the word he uses when he's describing how it is to join a band he's been a fan of for many many years.

Read more in ST [Sør-Trønder'n] tomorrow.

Yes, interesting news! This might light up something in the family camp... especially the last sentence sounds promising ;-)

Welcome on board Kenneth!

mmmm if he's been a MP fan for so long he'll surely know lots of old songs...and maybe can play it grinning smiley

Marty: Kapstad doesn't play on any of GÃ¥te's studio albums.
He joined right after Iselilja when original drummer
Martin Langlie quit to join Dadafon.

He does however play on the live CD and DVD that were
released from their farewell tour Christmas 2005.

And the sentence I digged was: They told me to come over and jam
on some NEW SONGS.

And that GÃ¥te-photo: Gayest photo ever grinning smiley

Great!

Jaco was ok, but that's it. Kapstad could be a winner, however I still miss Geb...

There's some additional info on the "new drummer" issue in the "Sør-Trøndelag" newspaper:
http://www.avisa-st.no/kultur/article862119.ece

Basically it says the same as the "Adressa" article, butthey've also got a comment from Snah:
"...Kenneth var førstevalget. Den eneste vi ringte til. Dette blir fantastic! Han har en smittende energi som setter hele time and space i bevegelse. Han skyter deg videre inn i musikken..."
roughly translated:
"..Kenneth was out first choice. The only one we called. This is gonna be fantastic! He plays with an energy that put time and space in motion. He rockets you further into the music..."

Seems promising indeed....I'm surely looking forward to Quart and MÃ¥nefestivalen now!

Good news!

This guy is a pretty cool drummer and the Gåte DVD is definitely recommended. His style of drumming will suit Motorpsycho well (check out tracks like Følgje, Storås and Margit Hjukse).

Personally, I think Jacco added something different with his laidback approach, at its best during the Manmower/Wheel jam at the Øya festival. Is it known whether Jacco quit himself or was forced to leave? Difficulties to combine playing in Trondheim with his job in the Netherlands is probably a likely reason.

Now it's time to get Kapstad into the groove and then take off to another level during the autumn tour! smiling smiley

I checked that Monolithic project. Not my cup of tea stylewise (too "all over the place"winking smiley, but god damn that boy can play!! He's one mean double bass drum machine. Too bad he won't get to use that skill in MP, unless their new direction leans towards screamin' speed/death/black/psycho metal, which would be as likely as them getting Tom Jones as their new keyboardist! smiling smiley

Anyway...hands up for this guy!!!
