nice new promo-picture - i agree that they seemed a little exhausted on the one back in 06. good to see kenneth on it as well. and that rune-teaser sounds really interesting.

btw. im running a small indielabel called sweet home and one of our bands playfellow, who are also huge fans of mp, are in the finals of a big contest, of which the main prize is a gig on a german festival.

please feel free to support them: www.becks-on-stage.de

thanks!

From Stickman:

What this means for the Motorpsycho DVD? That it's been postponed, of course! It's ready to go, however, and will be released in time for the tour. Really!

My guess is that it will be released after the cd, but before the tour. The strange thing is that it is not announced anywhere (Platekompaniet, CDON etc...)

Oh god, I'm checking the forums 4-5 times a day, everytime hoping there will be some sort of update on the DVD or the album, anything. Sigh.

II) A Hoof to the Head

2. Year Zero
3. She Left on the Sun Ship

4. The Alchemyst

Wow, Bent & Snah must've had just as much fun making the song titles
as making the song themselves.
It could be they're poking fun at all the other Rune Grammofon artists
with long fucked-up song titles.

@otherdemon: The whole thing reminds me of Yes - Tales from Topographic Oceans, or Close to the Edge.

But I guess they've got some 70s progressive rock extravaganza in mind, I'm loving it! The Mars Volta has got a similar thing going, except they're dead serious about it grinning smiley (And I'm loving it!)

Speaking of Mars Volta, I saw Snah at the Mars Volta concert in Oslo. He seemed to enjoy himself very much... :-)
I love the titles too. And I´m also checking out the forum three times a day, waiting eagerly for news. Like an obsessed teenage fan. doh.

Ha ha ha. This is the Grown Up Men Being Obsessed Teenagers Chapter of the MP Fanclub. Is that a tad sad or just cool? Just cool of course! And with those songtitles, it's just a laugh anyway. Space is an ironic place!

*most interesting is the "press-kit" to download at powerline.* it includes 1 PDF about the record release by jeannette and 3 pics. incl. the one with kenneth mentioned recently on g35 and two pics i really like by anja basma which look very cool and very photoshop.

nice quote of the PDF by j:
" […] I know that this music is going to be killer when it’s played live and that it’s going to grow and mutate and veer off into wildly different directions as the tour goes on...
Or you can just ignore all I just said and describe the album in much the same way that Bent described it to me over the phone before I had heard it: “It’s got little lucid moments in it, surrounded by a lot of weird shit”. "

MOTORPSYCHO – Little Lucid Moments CD/2LP
Released on Stickman Records 28.03.2008

A certain journalist (and he’ll recognise himself when reading this) always asks the same question when he’s told that a new Motorpsycho album is on it’s way: „Is it more Motor or is it more Psycho this time around?“. And for the first time ever I was able to answer him without the slightest need to stop and think. It’s both.

In fact, the motor is brand spanking shiny new and it’s name is Kenneth Kapstad. Built in 1979, he seems to be taking his two somewhat (ahem) older band members for quite a ride. Best known for drumming in such bands as Monolithic, Dadafon and Gåte (who also had some success in Germany), he is also considered to be an excellent improviser, a fact that is extremely important to original band members Bent and Snah. And after a year and a half of being “just” a duo, on stage with guest drummers and playing all the instruments themselves in the practise room and in the studio, Motorpsycho is a band again. A “band” in the sense of how it used to be: three friends and musicians meeting up in the practise room, drinking coffee, talking and...playing and writing music, of course.

So how to describe the four pieces of music that make up this album? What about the fact that you can read the words “consciousness”, “collapse”, “head”, “oblivion”, “sense”, “confusion”, “damage”, “I think”, “pennies dropping” and even “transmutation” in the titles? Does this bode well for this album? Isn’t it odd that all these words are used when the first thing that went through my head when listening to these songs was that they come straight from the heart (or from the gut if you prefer) and not from the head? Is this where the Psycho part comes in? And why I am giving you questions and not answers? Discuss.
I won’t pretend to know the hows and whens and whys of this record. Of which piece came first, followed by which other piece which led to that other thing. I know how I felt when I first listened to this album (and that was a very positive feeling indeed) and I know how happy the band’s fans will be when they get to hear it as well. I know that this music is going to be killer when it’s played live and that it’s going to grow and mutate and veer off into wildly different directions as the tour goes on...

Or you can just ignore all I just said and describe the album in much the same way that Bent described it to me over the phone before I had heard it: “It’s got little lucid moments in it, surrounded by a lot of weird shit”.

It somewhat reminds me of confusion is sex grinning smiley

Yup. "Kjeks" sounds almost like "sex", but does actually mean "biscuit" in Norwegian. Make what you want out of that. (Does it call for a serious interpretation?)

little lucid moments now up on youtube!

part 2:

it seems like youtube had a tad bit of problems with the convertion, so the sound is somewhat choppy at times.. but it is very listenable anyway!
