I used Steinberg Wavelab, and the Split feature (which enables you to place markers on the audio material active in the window, and then split the audio file into the selected parts, using "Auto Split". Note: righ click to place markers - it's called "Generic Marker"- importantly, you need to figure out where each new song starts, and place the markers exactly there, in order to get a clean cut). Try it out, and you'll see how easy it is. Or you can simply just cut and paste, using any audio treatment program (Soundforge, Cool Pro or even Ableton Live and Cubase)

Get back to me if you're having trouble, and i'll talk you through it

There is such a function!?!? So I sent years of mark/delete/copy/paste/save fiddling down the drain!

If you might have Samplitude, there is the ability to set CD track markers and then directly burn the CD with the program. Very cool! winking smiley

The Dagbladet review has come online:
http://www.dagbladet.no/kultur/2008/04/01/531168.html

They got 4 of 6 in Dagsavisen:
http://www.dagsavisen.no/kultur/musikk/article341704.ece

In general the reviewer was positive, but he thought that
because of MP's approach this time, something gets lost for
the listeners. Plus he really disses She Left On The Sun Ship,
which I to a degree understand.

4/6 in Nettavisen http://www.side2.no/musikk/anmeldelser/article1722837.ece

The journalist thinks the jam sessions are to long, and that it is easy for a poor listener to loose the grip. Jamming can be fun on stage, but not necessary on a record, he believes. Seems like its the first time he listens to MP. He also says that the hardcore fans probably will like it, but will not draw attention for other listeners.

5/6 in Adressa

http://www.adressa.no/kultur/musikk/anmeldelser/article1057235.ece

He says than Kenneth sounds like "worlds best MP drummer" alreadysmileys with beer
Its not their best record he says, because they hide their strongest abilities as flirting with other music styles, crazy humor and focus on the song. She Left On The Sun Ship must handle criticism again, and the journalist thinks its too long and that he don't get "hypnotized".

Re: New album and DVD

To some degree, i agree with him. That's kind of the same mindset i find myself in after listening to the record the whole way through (it's been about 10 times now). Although there are many killer moments where the band really rocks on, there are also some jammy moments which fail to amaze me that much, and finally take the punch out of the record to some degree (like S-L-O-T-S-S smiling smiley)

And while we're on that subject; Motorpsycho for me has always been the marriage between killer tunes on cd, and killer jams on stage, where they take the "finished" songs as they appear on cd, and extend them with spacey jams, different parts and so on. On LLM tho, it seems like that's already been done, if you catch my drift. It's like they actually preform a gig in my speakers when i put the record on. When reading the interviews about the album, Bent talked about this album being as close to a live Motorpsycho that they'd ever been. I assumed it had to do with the overall sound of the record, but now i understand that what he meant was the whole live experience. That's abit sad if you ask me. Cuz compared to the "old live days", when the thought "what happens now" was always present, it might seem that we now already know what we're getting. A part from some different guitar playing and/or space hooks, there's not a lot they can do to extend the songs. After all, they are already very long.

In short (and not to bitch, but...): they should have made fewer long songs, and replaced them with some more riff based short ones (like 5-6 minutes) which they then could extend the hell out of on stage. Or they should have made the long ones more intricate (with different themes and bpms), instead of having those long (and sometimes too long) jams in there.

But again, being the unpredictable pair that they are; If this is what they wanna do now, then who am i to bitch and whine. Better just learn to deal with it i guess

I think the Adressa review really nailed it, except I would point to Year Zero as the weakest link (She Left on the Sunship is terrific until the end jam which isn't all that great).

The Alchemyst really reminds of Yo La Tengo's more epic moments, BTW. Especially The Story of Yo La Tango off of their latest.

@The Golden Blissard Demon:
One can only hope that the spring/summer tour will give us monster-versions of the Sweet Suite. 45 minute Lucid jam, bring it on.

But I think they have to adjust to Kenneths playing, he's so much more upbeat than they have been for a long time (except for BH/BC with Bent, but that's not live), and that doesn't fit too well with the old jam buildups, I dunno.

I think it will get interesting. This is just the first step on a very new road.

Hey Blissard Demon, exactly, who are you to bitch and complain all the time? How can you find ways to critisize this latest album, its what people have been waiting for (apart from you that is). Believe it or not, but there are people who like when MP play long songs, even on record. If youve been to an MP show you would know that songs like Un Chien or the Wheel take on different shapes from record. I bet you thought they could never do that either? Why do you now want the same record they have released for, oh, the last 15 years? Why dont you pick up the latest offering by Postgirobygget instead?

Hey Nils. Chill.. Go listen to the latest offering by Motorpsycho instead.. People are just trading thoughts here.
Re: New album and DVD

It's a safe sign of a listener in delight when he can't refer from getting personal when discussing the new material! If you had checked out my previous posts, instead of using your time to pick on me and my comment, you might have recognized that i've given many a positive comment about the album (which i'm currently listening to for the x'nt time). The point is that even though i'm a psychonaut and all, i won't let that get in the way of my feelings about the album. I won't be that guy hailing it as the best thing they've done, when i personally don't think so. And with freedom of speech and all, i'm entitled to share my thoughts with the lot of you, either good or bad. Read my words or simply just move on!

On the other hand; You clearly love the album very much, since you couldn't handle my comments about it. Good for you! To me, it still lacks those magic moments here and there. But though i miss things on it, i still think it's a good album, and it's certainly better then anything Postgirobygget has ever made. So there!

Oh and by the way; I love their long songs, don't get me wrong. It's the harmony between short and long that i feel is missing on this record. And further more; It's you, not me that state that they've done the same thing for the last 15 years. Kind of funny smiling smiley

The problem with She left On The Sun Ship is that most people dont get the Steve Reich reference Bent mentioned. In case they would, they probably wouldnt complain about the long, minimalistic ending. Btw, anyone here saw the movie \"Sunshine\"? The title reminded me on that story where those scientists head over to the sun on a space mission to save earth. Quite visual, I like that movie.

No problem GBD, I see where youre coming from. Maybe I overreacted, but I do think this record is a possible future classic. Ever since TM Ive wished for an album of only The Wheel type songs, and now I got it, and Im very pleased. Not all of them are quite there yet in my ears, I had hoped for less rock and more drony melodies, but you cant get it all - and they have still to grow on me - but I must say it looks promising so far.

I should have said 20 years instead of 15 (I forgot they were so old), they have *always* had songs around 5-7 min which they expand on concerts, with a few exeptions. Im of course not saying they have done the same thing for all those years. I am saying that what you wished for is basically more of what they have been doing for so long.

On a side note, I wonder if the listening experience is different on LP and CD, I only have the LP and the fact you have four sides with four songs is great. And Steve Reich is a nice referance by the way.

Thank you! I always thought it sounded really familiar, now I know where I have it from :p

I totally agree with you on Year Zero as well.

Nils has a point there with Chien d'Espace: It's already a long song on recorde, but we got fantastic live versions that differ quite a lot.

I am looking forward to the gigs. Until now I'll have to listen to LLM another dozen times, because until now I like it, but I don't "love" it - and I am really into long jams (still waiting to hear the Golden Core another time).
