I agree as well. I think this is the strongest album for many years. And I really don`t understand the critics in norwegian papers. They`re good in general, but to complain about Motorpsycho jammin, is for me quite a shot in the dark. For me personally, Motorpsycho has always been about playing them tunes, not their vocals. And I must say to you "The Golden Blissard Demon" that i generally agree with your opinions at this site. But I can`t let this statement go unnoticed:

"A part from some different guitar playing and/or space hooks, there's not a lot they can do to extend the songs. After all, they are already very long."

They might not extend their songs but I see lots of options with this material on stage. I love the new sound of Serpentine, their new version of Uppst/downst, and their fantastic version of Sideways spiral III, and let us ot forget the reveal of Hogwash. Over the years, old tunes have gained new levels we couldn`t see comming. And I really belive that within this summer and fall, after a few more shows under their belt, we will experience LLM finest moments in a suit(e)(oh,that was striking...) that will overwhelm the audience.

So, don`t take this Personally Golden Blissard Demon, I just think we have to wait and see what MP can do with this terrific material. Who knows, we might be up for 30 minutes of highlights from LLM.

Bent stated something about dropping songs for this one. So maybe there are some EP's in the pipeline to look forward to.

and another cool thing is, as soon as LLM maaaaay wear out a teeeeeny bit, there'll be the DVD to enjoy. smiling smiley

motorpsycho at its finest!! I love the jamming, it's absolutely fantastic!
But, I don't know if it's poor quality from iTunes store (256 kbps AAC) or my for-school poor headphones, but the audio quality sounds very rough, almost gritty. I heard Bent commenting about LLM that is was deliberately "under-produced". Is this causing the "un-clean" sound of it? Regardless, the musical genous comes out perfectly smiling smiley

Allow me to retract some of my bitchy attitudes these last few days. It's like it's been said This album needs time to grow on you. And that's exactly what it has done. I've come to like it better and better for each listen, and while walking in the rain from a friend last night, with my mp3 player on full blast, it came to me like a religious experience; Man this shit rocks!!

I still feel that some of my points are valid, atleast in my opinion, but man....what a monster!

Favourite songs so far is Year Zero and the Suite - Snah, thank god, what a fucking gift (not really), I loved Before The Flood and all its Dylan and Young references, (bringing all the best from the tussler project into mp imo) but Year Zero is seriously undervaluated in this forum so far, and far superior to BTF. Listen to the vocals and the guitar playing! Some part of me wished they did this album in 2001 instead of now, it would have been a terrific follow up from TU, and more prog in some ways (?)! Whatever. Turn our backs on what we knew.

After posting this last comment I listened to BTF and Year Zero back to back, and (its been a while since I last listened to BH/BC) Year Zero is amazing, so much better than BTF, loud and distorted, perhaps the best Snah effort so far? Promising in my ears at least - (comforting to know that someone grows up with respectwinking smiley)
Listening to LLM brings everything back, I think MP were always best when they were pushing it within their own parameters, and its so much more to find within this space. Everyting else becomes silence.

I'm with you. I'm not totally blasted like I was by say Trust Us. But then again somehow I am. It takes time. I have no issues with the jamming though, for it not really is. I'm happy it isn't the too-lose jamming attitude like on Going to California or Whip that Ghost. I see it more like a delicate search for the moment to click into hypnosis. Religious experience for the win.

The slight muffiness I got used to too. Some hi-mid brilliance may be missing, but this isn't the Foo Fighters. It's a big fat rock into the gut.

hi. somebody said something about bent saying something about steve reich (in connection with the reich-like theme on year zero?). could this somebody please expand on what bent said and perhaps where? thank you in advance. on another note, i've been following mp since demon box and _closely_ since blissard. used to dig timothy the most, and some tracks off of trust us (most notably psychonaut, rad. freq. and taifun). lost hart somewhere between panerothyme and the love cult. BUT NOW MY HEART IS BACK! god damn it's good hearing the magic again. i'm not saying the new record reaches old hights, but it has hooks, and the hooks are out, so it might.

6/6

Just listened to the 2*LP (!) on my brilliant technics r.player.

This is the perfect MP- records in my ears. Haha!

Just now, it seems to me that everything MP has done and been until now is in this record. Been a fan since 1994 it is quite fantastic moment now.

Guess this spring MP will give a magical mystery tour.

The length, challenges and improvised feeling and the themes is so close to what I have always liked about MP. As they say themselves:

- No fear. no hatred, no mercy, no compromise.

In my ears this is music of course. But I also would say art music. Wow! Gonna listen one more time now.

Thanks

Fantastic...again! When I started to write down these words, I fist thought I should write about how Year Zero is just the most wonderfull song, but then I got to think of the Monster guitar-riff from She left on the sun ship, and then the amazing melodies from The Alchemyst and the monumental greatness of track 1...
Conclusion: Awesome!!

Ps: SHe left on the sunship was te opening track at last years quart festival, though a much shorter version...I clearly remember!!

Yesterday I finally got the album. I have to say it was well worth the wait. This is easily their best album of the 2000's. The guitar solo in Year Zero is magnificent, the drumming is amazing. This album is the best recorded approximation of their live sound.

LLM debuted at both 1st and 2nd of VG-Lista (1st of Norwegian records). Only
REM´s new album Accelerate sold better in Norway last week.

That means "best placement" in the list overall. Only Let them Eat Cake and Motorpsycho presents The international Tussler Society have reached # 1.

Means "x as highest position" [on the chart], also stated is the number of weeks [uker] on the chart and which year.

MP is a band that sells an awful lot the first week and then disappears rather quickly off the charts. Reason? Very dedicated fans who all tend to buy the album the first week, preferably on the day it's released. That's the way we are.
