not too many BHBC songs being listed here... will it turn out to be their forgotten album?
Re: 10 Top Songs of Motorpsycho

@supernaut: True, but I doubt it will be forgotten. Kill Devil Hills, No Evil, Hyena, Sail On, You Lose, The Ace, got plenty of cool tunes, but they're just not up to par with the old stuff, imho. How about a BH/BC vs. 8 Soothing Songs poll? Noone seems to like that album, except for the vinyl cover. Myself, I'm not sure. 8 Soothin songs has The Wait, Loaded, Have Fun and Step Inside, not to mention Sister Confusion..

Cool, an 7 year old thread! winking smiley

Well, as with most people, my top 10 songs would also be a subject to change. So I could either go with a current list or trying to comprehense what are the favourites over a longer period of time. To meet the nature of this thread, I'll go with the latter option and compile the most listened songs by consulting my last.fm statistic:

1. No Evil
2. Serpentine
3. In our Tree
4. Go to California
5. Waiting for the One
6. Hyena
7. Triggerman
8. Slow Phaseout
9. Kill Devil Hills
10. My Best Friend

You should keep in mind that I listen to Motorpsycho since 2001 or so and this statistic started in 2005 and only covers what I listened to on my PC. Although this is where I listen to the vast majority of my music (and *yes*, in lossy mp3 format, don't bother me with audiophile talk, takk!) this excludes of course some amount of mp3player & CD/LP-listening, but it should be representative for these last years anyway. The fact that BHBC is so prominently featured here is of course that fact that this album came out in 2006 and got quite some spinnin' in Winamp. But all in all, Serpentine should be my favourite song...just due to the fact that it still plays in my inner playback system all the time. There are few days when I don't hum this wonderful tune, I'm not kidding.

I feel a bit surprised that so many don't mention The Wheel in their lists.. For me, it's been a really important song for a long time. But then again, I can't mention a song i dislike. I guess that's the way it is for everyone.

- The Wheel
- The Golden Core
- Feedtime
- Un Chien d'espace (Roadwork 1)
- Demon Box
- Radiance Freq.
- Taifun
- Mantrick Muffin
- Stained Glass (Paradiso version, but in fact also the original version)
- Giftland

Hmmm this should make an average duration of.. 12 mins?

Hogwash (Haircuts/Paradiso version)
STG
Manmower (especially live, but also album version)

Very true. I got into MP with the Demon Box album, but this one really hooked me for life.
My roommates hated me at 0a.m. for that low end bass. smiling smiley

To me BHBC is totally on par with Trust Us and I like it even more than Blissard or AADAP.
And of course I like 8 Soothing Songs. Only Lobotomizer, Cake and Phanerothyme don't move me from start to finish.
Re: 10 Top Songs of Motorpsycho
January 13, 2009 04:12PM
8 Soothing Songs For Rut is by far MP's worst album. It features 3 good/great songs (Have Fun, Loaded and
Step Inside), Sister Confusion is better in the Mountain ep version AND the acoustic Haircuts version. And the
remaining 4 songs are not very good, The Wait being one of the worst MP tracks ever.

BH/BC is uneven, but still faaaar better.

Oh I like Soothe very much, it has that certain unique sound you can't even find on any other MP albums. Also I think the songs are great. With the exclusion of "We all float down here" of course
Re: 10 Top Songs of Motorpsycho
January 14, 2009 04:33PM
I can't say anything about BH/BC 'cause I've never heard it. I'm from Spain and here it's really hard (almost impossible) to get something of MP (all what I have of them I got it in Germany when I was a student).

By the way, in the song "Go to California", could anyone tell me what they mean with: "you can have kisses by the millions..."?
Re: 10 Top Songs of Motorpsycho
