Well...that's the fastest 20 minutes i've ever been a part of. So what did you think?

Haha... you don't fade a song that is 21 minutes long! That's irony for you!

I liked it. Can't wait to hear it live again. Lots of potential..

It has potential. Too much going on to take in one listen.

Yeah, plus the streaming quality as quite bad. But to be perfectly honest...i had alittle trouble with the fuzz....abit too much on the noisy side if you ask me. But the songs are cool as hell, and i think that a fresh CD will do the trick soundwise.

Fucking raw song! The last part is pure heaven! Cant wait for the album...

The fuzz can be attributed to the streaming quality. The mp3s I currently
have sound way better (but not even those mp3s could capture everything that was going on in that track)

Let's hope so. Did you record the song as it went along or what?

It was great! Even better than the live version from Trondheim that I've been listening to a lot the last couple of days. Really enjoyed the production on it, although I couldn't really hear all the little details due to the bad streaming quality. Looking forward to 28th of April when I'm seeing them live!

So you've got the whole cd? I've ordered it from Rune Grammofon, but it hasn't arrived yet. Care to share? smiling smileysmiling smiley

Yeah I was wondering about the sound aswell.. Crisp clear when Harald talked (and on all the other songs) but MP sounded like crap. hmm...

TraktorBass is right, too much going on to make a judgement in one listen. Some interesting parts, and I'm all for the long songs, the jamming and such.. But I hope they won't forget about what makes Motorpsycho (one of) the best band(s) in the world, the lyrics, the melodies... Don't get me wrong, I love when they jam like hell and send us all into space, but they can do both (Taifun, Mantrick muffin, Vortex...) I didn't get that aspect from this song..

You read my mind Captain! I also noticed the change in sound when LLM played. The other stuff (like Rumble in Rhodos) sounded clear and nice, but the MP song sounded rusty and underproduced. Let's hope for a change of mind with the album

And as long as we're in the "cons" corner; I don't think that snah's playing on the jammy parts was all that neat. Kind of uninspired it could seem. But god damn, some of those parts are pure joy!

Still....gotta wonder about Kapstad; imho i think he's making too much "mick muck" when playing here and there, instead of sticking to a steady groove to drive the song.

The jam-parts are really insane... but I guess they will sound somehow different when you play the CD. Snahs guitarplaying was kind of weird and spaced up at times and Kapstad plays like some completely mad free-jazz drummer some places, but I think this song have lots of potential and will just grow and grow...

The hoof to the head vocals are just brilliant, by the way!! And when they both sing together before the last crazy jams.... Just beautifull...

Yeah, I really like the way Kapstad plays, as opposed to 'a steady groove' he just takes so much energy into the song and really lives up Motorpsycho citing John Coltrane as an inspiration (in his place it's Elvin Jones that's the inspiration though). His free-jazz take on it makes it quite interesting and there's always something going on when he's playing.

I also really liked that 'psychedelic effect' after the first part which really sounded as a production technique borrowed from the Deads' Anthem from the Sun.

I agree. He's a very good drummer, with alot of dynamic and power. But i just think that he's abit all over the place with that jazzy stuff sometimes. Jazz beats are cool within the context of jazz, but not in a energetic and evolving rock tune. They kinda mess up the tempo abit.
It's like driving a badass car, wanting to shift it into insane mode and drive fast as hell. But as soon as you start accelerating, you hit a speed bump, and gotta start all over again. Atleast that's kind of what it does for me. That being said; he does a very good job most of the tune, and when it kicks in, it really kicks in!

The more i think about it, the more i wanna listen to that track again! I already miss those nifty interludes, the begining and the sweet release at the end!

I got my vinyl at Apollon in Bergen this afternoon. They have CDs as well, but you'll have to ask...

I've listened to the whole thing about two times through now. So far my impressions are good, but not overwhelming. I may end up having to eat my words, because I was sort of underwhelmed by BH/BC on my first listen as well, but I quickly grew to love that album (and I stand by that, it's a freakin *great* MP album, even if it drops off a bit on the second disc). My main impression from this album is that it's low on tunes, and high on energy. Unfortunately, for me the best MP music is when the two go together. MP at its best has that adrenalin rush married to fantastic melodies, arrangements and structures. And the lucid moments are like epiphanies, delivered at just the right times, but within that frameworks. On this album, there's quite a bit of rather aimless playing on often unmemorable tunes. To put it short, there's no new Wheel, Golden Core, S.T.G., Vortex Surfer or Rad Freq here. I hear a lot of loud noise, unmistakeable Motorpsycho, but somehow I can't be brought to care as much about it as I would like to.

Maybe it needs a bit more time to grow on me. Maybe I'm just having a bad hair day, I don't know. But it ties in with my impressions from December's Bergen concert - too much muscle, too little finesse and dynamics.

That being said - the LLM suite is quite nice, and indeed quite Yes-like in structure, and there are definitely a lot of lucid moments in it, but it's a little "unwieldy" for lack of a better word. And The Alchemyst is probably my favorite track on the album. Maybe a little too long, but damn nice.

Rating so far is 4 out of 6 from me.

Shakti said "My main impression from this album is that it's low on tunes, and high on energy. Unfortunately, for me the best MP music is when the two go together."

That's my point exactly. I haven't heard the album, just listened to the suite on P3 tonight. But I got the same impression.. The core of MP has always been the popstructures, even if they won*t admit it. All the jamming complements those parts adds up to the melodies.. And I didn't get that from the suite.. But then again, I'll change my mind when I've listened to it a couple of times!

Ah, the LLM Suite gets better with subsequent listens, haven't gotten to the rest yet, but this is great stuff really, just have to take it all in smiling smiley

What`s there to say? Mindblowing it is. About time a MP-tune pushes "Mountain" down from my MP-throne. Just like being gently fucked in the ear by the progrockelephant from progheaven! I`m so sad this Suite clock`s in at 21.10, and not 41.10

Hail the kings!
