Interesting... Actually, I think that the last half is the best part of the song.

Couldn't wait for the postman and bought it today in retail. It's my gf's birthday anyway, so... smiling smiley

Am listening to the suite now for the second time. Didn't check out the rest yet. Except for distracted (shame on me) listen to Year Zero.
The first four minutes I find kind of underwhelming. Probably because I listened to the live bootie too often. In comparison it feels too tame here. And there's an irritating guitar fill in the main riff. Things I'll surely get used to though.

The end of Lawned is brilliant and then suddenly A Hoof, and as soon as Snah starts to sing over the fast stuff, woooahhh there we go. Spacejazz and most delicate drumming over a hazed guitar loop. Very nice.
Sweet Oblivion is beautiful. Shame it fades out so soon and a teeeeeny bit too harsh. But that's probably just me. I always want cool riffs and sounds to last for 3 hours at least.

For me too Year Zero feels like a GOOD Before the Flood. More passion, less - dare I say it? - pathos there. But that's all for now after a very superficient first listen.

bought yesterday in Bologna and listened many many times.
i like it a lot, sure... i like it as i love the second CD of Timothy's Monster BUT i miss here a first CD of Little Lucid Moments.
I feel like i miss something here, like it isn't complete as a new record.
I remember when i bought Timothy's Monster, Blissard or angel and daemons at play i was so damned addicted to them, they became the soundtrack of my life so quickly... this new record instead it's like a new roadwork, a new fishtank.
It's great ok but will not be for me a new masterpiece.
Sorry for my little english.

Evol: There u go then! Something for everyone. About that part; It's not that i don't like it. It's highly interesting and spacy. I just think it's sad that they didn't use that part as a jammy interlude, and went back to the main riff, or ended the track with something else. Every time i hear it, i tend to wish for some sort of release which obviously never comes. Instead it simply just dies out. But again, that's just me...

By the way: The album continues to grow in my ears!

yeah, i'm still waiting for my pre-order copy in far east. but this time, maybe 'cuz of Rune Grammofon, imported LLM will be start to sell in Japan from April 15th, big stores like amazon.co.jp or hmv.co.jp already acccept pre-orders. it's pretty fast and it never happen before...i mean we had to wait about 2-3 month before. anyway...i guess should be easy to get a copy in many countries this time. but i've read that LLM will release from the same record label in Japan later, too. noone knows "when" though...
hope my package will come to my door soon!

Greater sound this time, but the arrangements are too loose in my opinion. Someone compared it to "Close to the Edge" (My definito favorite album of all times), an interesting comparison by the way. That album was not recorded live in studio, and what it has that llm lacks is some magic keyboard parts. Prog. without keyboard is interesting for aproximately 5 minutes, then the whole thing implodes due to a lack of new sounds. The guitar is a wonderful tool but it can't compansate for the keyboard or some other instruments. Food needs spice, engines need oil, motorpsycho needs BÃ¥rd, Lars or Helge.....

For me, The Alchemyst is fantastic, genious and nearly perfect!! (maybe a little bit too much "additional sounds"winking smiley One of the best songs I've ever listened to. So powerful, melodic, epic, awesome voice. It has everything. a dream-song.
so The Alchemyst 10/10, LLM 7/10!

She left on the sun ship is getting better and better too. I still think the space jam at the end is too long, but man...the main riff, and the drive of the tune is mighty cool!

Halfway through. I just can't give it a complete first time listen. I really want to save it up. Totally nuts. Taking a break and deep breath between songs.

Year Zero: Move over, vortex surfer, your time is up.

Love Snah's singing.

yeah, his voice is really great, and i think it's funny that everyone seems to be reminded of a better "before the flood" when listening to that track. in fact, both are really very similar, thinking of the sweet melody and the expansive guitar solo in the end.

Year Zero is an improved Before The Flood IMO. The first part
alone which builds up to the first verse is better than any parts on BTF.
I don't know if it's better than Vortex Surfer though, but very worthy tune nonetheless.

She Left On The Sun Ship is still overlong; they shoulda shortened down the
last jam (7 minutes of that riff is too long, even if the riff is good).
Other than that, great album!

Well, I had to spend the weekend without a chance to hear the album again, so it's had time to sink in. And the really good news is that the time-out has really increased my appreciation of it! In fact, I could hardly get the songs out of my head all through the weekend!! Especially The Alchemyst, but also the main theme oof She Left on the Sunship.

So I am going to go ahead and bump my rating up to 5 out of 6. I've just been spinning side A, and it is beautiful! So what if it's slightly unfocused at times - they are playing like a band again, bristling with energy like the old days! If this lineup stays together, I think they could rise to new heights once they go out and tour a little.

One last thing, and I'll shut up:

Even if BH/BC had a bunch of *great* songs and generally very nice arrangements and whatnot, one criticism which I think was justly leveled at it was that it didn't really represent anything "new"; it was more a consolidation and return to what has made Motorpsycho so great. But the element of danger and reaching out for something new wasn't really there (even the more expansive parts of Kill Devil Hills, Triggerman, Critical Mass and Devil Dog had their precursors in previous work).

However, even though LLM is in many ways also a return to basics and an attempt on Motorpsycho's part to "find themselves" again, there are parts on the new record that don't really sound anything like what we've hear before. It's unmistakeably Motorpsycho, it rocks hard, there are intricate details, but it doesn't really *sound* like any of their previous albums. And the eerie opening to The Alchemyst is unlike anything else they've done, and all the more brilliant for it. I can hardly wait to hear them play that track live!!!

For those of you anywhere near Oslo on Sunday:

Big Dipper is doing a "nattåpent" Sunday 24:00. There you can
buy a Motorpsycho package; the new album on either CD or vinyl,
a special T-Shirt (numbered and limited edition) and a poster.
All for 299 NOK. I will surely be there.

I just have to say that parts of this album is pure magic... This is a brave move I think. Have to agree as mentioned before that the album indeed sounds like something new we not have heard before, but it still feels like the MP we know.
One of reasons I like MP so much is that I never know what they'll do next, and this album proves it. You'll never know what you gonna get, forrest gump-ish :-)

The mailman never showed so I bought a copy of the CD on saturday (then I can leave the vinyl wrapped, if it ever arrives...) and have been listening to it since.
Best effort in many years. Best since cake.

I love the long songs. Who needs 3-minute songs, eh?

Will elaborate at some point I guess. Right now the CD feels like a freight train running through my head.
