Now I also had several complete listens and it really grows.

To The Alchemyst you can really imagine some freak out of control in his chemical lab. First when he steps into it checking what he can find and then in the end making a complete mess with all the substances! winking smiley
She Left On The Sun Ship has a heavy groove and a nice melody and a beautiful space out ending.
Little Lucid Moments is just good with all the different parts. Fits as the title song of the album.
Year Zero is maybe the least interesting song for me up to now. Better then Before The Flood but not as good as Vortex Surfer. Sweet Snah vocals though.

They may have let the drums sound more open, a little more modern. They surely wanted that dry sound but I also love albums like Blissard where the drums have reverb on them and so get some more "bang" to it.

All in all a great new album with a never expected format (only 4 songs) and I´m really looking forward to see it live!

I thought a dry drum sound was the modern sound... Well, modern or not, I actually prefer that late 60's, early 70's dry drum sound over the crappy 80's and (slightly better) 90's reverb drums.

For a great example in great dry drum sound, listen to Histoire de Melody Nelson by Serge Gainsbourg.

Hmmm...
LLM is totaly mindblowingly great! Could it be that BH/BC becomes a better album because of LLM??

I don't really know these things, but wouldn't it be fair to say that Motorpsycho now has one hell of a rhythm section?? Holy christ how they rock on Hallucifuge!

i like she left on the sun ship and the alchemyst. all in all i can´t add anything really new. i think little lucid moments is a step in the right direction and i´m thrilled to experience how they develop their possibilities in the future.
can´t wait to see the setlists for the tour!

@ripplesurfer: i don´t think LLM is totally mindblowingly great, but i had sort of similar feelings....can´t explain that tho.

for me BH/BC doesn't need LLM to be great. It's been one of my top 5 MP albums right from the start. And its bent/bent rhythm section rocks like hell too btw.

I'm also fan of dry retro drum sounds and I really despise reverbed and gated and compressed big stadium 80ties rockdrums. :shudder: But it's true that a little more openness and clarity would have been nice on LLM. Best MP drum (and overall) sound for me has still Trust Us.

yeah, really growing with every spin. totally agree with the point about the drum sound. esp. snare and cymbal sound could be more aggressive.

btw, one thing i already noticed on bh/bc and that somehow repeats on llm is that i think bent's bass play is lacking some subtlety recently. i know that straight riffing is some kind of trademark to a certain degree, but i honestly think he could contribute a little more to the songs. i mean, almost throughout the whole record he is simply playing basic notes of following snah's chords with some pentatonic transitions. that's fine if it serves the song, but at least on the long instrumental passages he could add some interesting harmonies of tension and release.

as for now, i really enjoy that hardrock-bass-riffing, but i would wish that there'll be future tunes who again build up on a nice melodic bass riff. just think of the wheel - greatest bassline ever, stretching over eight bars and perfectly completing the guitar riff. please, bent! more of that, instead of just making sound and getting your rocks off! ;-)

I was not talking about an 80s gated reverb drum sound! Nooo, please not!! But just a little more open. Like on the last Foo Fighters record. It's dry but still very open (actually every song on it has a different drum sound which I think is pretty cool). Or take In Utero: That record has ultra tight drums but you can hear the beautiful reverb. Ok LLM is an prog-style-album but even Yes had a nice clear drum sound back then. But I don´t want to give too much critics, the sound is still very cool as it is on LLM.

got my package from Stickman and RG both together this evening...took a week from Germany, 5 days from Norway. it always happen though.

about drum sound, the guy who mixed this album is producer for Jaga Jazzist or many artist on Smalltown Supersound, which is a hint for those sound i guess. anyway this album is the first one with Kenneth, i guess on stage or next one will show something different also! anyway...i do love LLM.

got CD and Vinyl today. Yay!

better and Better and BETTER and BETTTTTTTTER indeed!

the less i'm dazzled by information overload, the more melodies and structures i hear.
obviously...

the suite gets shorter and shorter every time. and Year Zero's fade out melody with the strings/keys sticks like glue.

concerning the drumsound, i'm with marc and daniel.
bent doesn't play as upfront as he did sometimes. but that's ok. it's just not really that much traktorbass either, as i expected due to some euphoric statements. at least compared to "leave it like that" or "feedtime" for example.
