Ui - Lifelike (1998)

Looking at the list I noticed that there was a bandname missing starting with a U so I checked my recordcollection again and could choose between a couple of bands like:
UB40 - Signing Off (1980) (obviously No Motorpsycho influence!)
U2 - Joshua Tree (1987) (No influence eiher, I reckon..)
Underworld - Everything Everything (2000) (I didn't hear Techno yet)
Urban Dance Squad - Mental Floss For The Globe (1989). Groundbreaking album of this great Dutch band, good rock, blues & rap +dj mixture with an occasional Beefheart sample (maybe somebody likes to put this album on the list? They deserve the credit).
But in the end I choose the band Ui because they fit nicely amongst the experimental, progressive & psychedelic bands on the list.
So from of today this covers the complete list of bandnames starting with all the letters of the alfabet.
In 10 days time, starting december 7th.
Nice work everybody!

@Concerning Bands starting with the letter U, I'd go with Union Carbide Productions, the predecessor of The Soundtrack of our Lives, who might have had some influence on Motorpsycho. But that's kind of sticking around in the dark...

I thought the idea was to list confirmed influences/references along with an album by those. Am I wrong? I just got confused.

RULES: 2 LIST(s)
December 17, 2008 10:10PM
Well guys, we have to split the list into two:

LIST A )
Records/bands we are sure that Motorpsycho had listened to

LIST B )
Records/bands we think, perhaps, Motorpsycho had listened to, or that we think had a connection with the mood of Motorpsycho or some references with some song of Motorpsycho... a sort of fans' interpretation...

We can shift a record from the LIST B to the LIST A by referendum, when we think it is appropriate (attitude, reference...) or when we have a link with an article or interview where they talk about a band (or more) coming from the LIST B!

So the game will come bigger and bigger and so the list(s)...

Have a nice trip, folks.

I won't give up on this thread yet!
If somebody else feels the urge to put the list into a proper alfabetical order ...
Mr. TimothyTimothy can order the list in such a fashion that he feels that it is a plausible represantation of a Motorpsycho-member recordcollection, a mix between list A) and list cool smiley?
The new editions on the list are partly gathered from info that I found somewhere else on this site (Trivia & gossip) conserning the musical taste and recordcollection from the band, and some research conserning the release dates etc.

Wasn't this thread about "only 1 album per artist" ?
Would be fun if someone could hand this list to Bent and he could add coments and enhance this whole thing grinning smiley
But I guess I wont listen to all the music in this list here because I dont have the time to right now in this part of my life ...
Re: MOTORPSYCHO's favourite album list!
December 26, 2008 02:56AM
In the case of one or two albums per artist: some albums on the list are most often the artist's best or most influential album or just their first album, the album that made people aware of the artist and the music. Speaking for myself, I'd have a big problem choosing my favourite Neil Young, Led Zeppelin, Beatles or Can album. Artist's of that caliber had a big impact on music not only with one album but several, if not their complete discography. So I think that in those cases we'd could mention two albums per artist. Big chance that we could find more than one album of an artist in, for example, Bent's recordcollection.

Albums that originated songs that MP covered are also mentioned on the list, like:
‘Six Days On The Road’ (Green, Montgomery - who are they??) could be found on Gram Parsons ‘Gram Parsons and The Fallen Angels Live 1973’. (Bent once stated him as being among the 3 best songwriters of all time - apparently Motorpsycho have taken it from Gram.)'

After reading the Trivia & gossip section I found out that for example one of the songs on Captain Beefheart's Lick My Decals Off, Baby album is used a reference for (read it yourself): 'The Skies Are Full of... Wine? As Bent said on Roxrevyen, a reference to Capt. Beefheart. The Beefheart song is called "The clouds are full of wine (not Whiskey or rye)" - from "Lick My Decals Off, Baby" 1970.'

Here some other things I copy'd from 'This is Motorpsycho' - Trivia and gossip, in some cases I'd went on the net in search for info and discography of the artist mentioned and came up with an album most likely to be chosen as reverance by MP.

Snah's Favourite guitarists (in random order):
1.Richie Blackmore
2.Jimmy Page
3.Yngwie Malmsteen
4.Robert Fripp
5.Steve Howe
6.Snakefinger
7.Keiji Heino
8.Kevin Shields (My Bloody Valentine)
9.Ranaldo / Moore (Sonic Youth)

* EDGAR BROUGHTON BAND- Wasa Wasa
* GROUND HOGS-Who will save the world
* GRAHAME BOND- love is the law
