Are you joking?

Listened to some songs on the i-net and must say that I consider these songs as the worst QOTSA ever!

Check out Adam Franklin's new album "Bolts of melody"!
Freakin awesome.
He was the mainbrain/vocal/guitar in the legendary Swervedriver throughout the 90's. Swervedriver was kind of shoegazed, but with much more tension than a lot of other bands.
If you don't know them, GET TO IT!
And check out Franklin's new album...

Yeah, QOTSA don´t do it for me any more also... Check out new Brant Bjork --> Somera Sol. Pretty cool!

no i'm serious and you're very wrong. first listen didn't convince me either, but give it some more in depth tries. and remember: quick impressions from internet listenings are not to be trusted anyway. as every motorpsychohead should know. it's a record not made for this. it's whacky, aggressive, with great melodies, splendid in detail and nailed joyfully to the point. i really love it. even more than the last one. gone are the days of stoner rock. rejoice! this is next generation. fu manchu and brant bjork yeah okey, but they're so formulaic in comparison.

my faves: turn on the screw, into the hollow (wonderful chorus and kinda vintage jethro tull double lead sounds in the main riff, how cool is that?), battery acid (check 1'30"!), make it wit chu (awesome!), suture, river, running joke, well every song actually. and try to get the title track only available on the net. it's best!

my recent best favorite is

Paul Wong

just keep listening to his albums.
even he sing in Cantonese, but have to be known much more.
recommened all releases, but especially
"blackwhite" or "Madman's exercise" (actully those are in Chinese)
hey, strange, but yep have something in common with MP...
real good vocalist and a guitarist also talented song writer.
a rock god in Hong Kong. can see him on youtube.

any melvinsheads here?
Re: What are your favorite actual bands these days beside MP?

yeah! the melvins rock! I missed them here in Milan, they played the whole houdini. damn I've been studyin like hell in that period and missed lots of really interesting concert (for example Slint and Isis...arrrrgh). Btw, OZMA is my fav from the melvins smiling smiley

hey guys, I've just been listening to the last Smashing Pumpkins album...damn, what a mess. It couldn't have been worst.

i haven't seen the houdini live shows either (lucky me did see them in 93 though when that album came out), but have just got the live album "a live history of gluttony and lust" from these shows and wooha this is just incredible. even better than the original album. in case you didn't know this one. smiling smiley

melvins, gotta love 'em. remember when they were rather regular guests on the wahwah program on viva2, where we also got a lotta MP in them better times.

gish was alright and rather fresh and exciting for the time, but for me it went downhill from there with the smashing pumpkins. with the exception of the 1979 song maybe.

1979 is one of the best song ever for me, btw I don't like mellon collie that much. too many caramel songs. Got an old bootleg from 1989, yep they used to kick asses...

The Pumpkins were never quite my cup of tea, I cant stand Billy Corgans voice, with the exception of some songs.

At the moment I'm listening a lot to Tocotronic.

I've seen Smashing Pumpkins when they came over here for the first time, it was only 100 people at the club...next time they came, tickets were sold out pretty fast...i loved them before / around the first album, i mean indie releases and major first one, but i have no idea about others...

now listening to Zarahn!

nicely done website!

I've seen pearl jam in front of 100 audience playing unplugged because the club was "too small". Must have been 91 or 92. In switzerland. I really liked them a lot but kinda lost them soon after. That was the time when demon box & timothy's monster changed my taste for guitar music pretty drastic.

me, too!
i do loved Mother Love Bone, so Pearl Jam was very different from my taste...i've seen Pearl Jam at LOLLAPALOOZA in Seattle, which was Somdgarden, Ministry, PJ, RHCP, also even at the small place Truly played, it was just the time PJ became very known...a old memory...hehe...like SP, i lost my interests in PJ soon after, it was just the time i really got into MP...

A lot good taste here i think its really sad that the most of you guys out there watch out for there image and reputation. Pretty Independent isnt it.
I like commerical music which seems a no´no in this forum. Its good music not good image!. So thats enough criticism!

Grand Funk Railroad
Blue Öyster Cult
Public Enemy
Kansas
Motorpsycho (not MP, thats stands for Military Police in Germany i think its not in Motorpsycho´s mind)
The Bar-kays
The Band
The Divinyls
Thin Lizzy
Elvis Presley
Die Ärzte
Kraftwerk
KISS
Good night and stay independent
