What are your favorite actual bands these days beside MP?

Smashing Pumpkins and Pearl Jam are selling millions, I wouldnt consider them independent. Just to name two of the recent mentions.
Indeed its good music not good image. I cant imagine anybody putting image before his/her own taste.

I can tell ya, I never payed much attention to what is cool and what is not.
Anyway, while we're on it, the top 20 of my Last.fm account - its pretty much a good mirror to what I actually listen to a lot.

A pretty sick mixture actually.

being independent is a state of mind, a motivation, a goal. it has nothing to do with the amount of sold records and the label you're on. the "indie" tag is drawn way too small and too superficial.

how many indie bands would like to go major, but no one signs them and the indie community considers them totally yay indie cool yee-haw!?

A must-hear for Motorpsycho fans, especially if you like their psych/prog side.

never heard of them, but i kinda like what i'm listening to right now, it's a song called "stadsvandrnigar", think i'll have to take a closer look at that band

yes they sound interesting.

Try Ta Det Lugnt or Tio Bitar, those two are the best. Stadsvandringar is a much more folk-psych album, the other two are a little heavier and more prog-like, especially Ta Det Lugnt.
