The gig from Heaven (Trondheim, 2006-10-22)

Oh my god. Today's gig (sunday) was quite simply perfect. Everything was perfect. The sound was amazing, crystal clear and perfect balance. The audience were so nice and quiet that Bent commented "is it respect or boredom?". (of course there was also sing-along on 'you lied' etc.).

setlist, in correct order:

psychonaut > jam, like on saturday > blueberry daydream > psychonaut
the new song with no name
kill devil hills >
devil dog
before the flood (yeah!)
wearing yr smell
high time >
starmelt/lovelight
triggerman >
manmower
no evil
hyena >
you lied >
HOGWASH (loooong, far out, noisy, incredible!)

UN CHIEN D'ESPACE - the MOST BEAUTIFUL, PERFECT version!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Øyvind Brandtsegg joined them for this one. it lasted almost 40 minutes i think. FANTASTIC!!!

Un Chien was truly amazing. It had the longest, noisiest and loudest build up jam in the middle and it also had extremely beautiful, quiet passages. Fantastic playing and interaction in the entire band.

It's after shows like this you wish they'd start releasing as many live shows as, say, the Grateful Dead. Bent's Picks vol. 1-50 perhaps?

Hell yeah! That would be something.

And oh, chewing your leg off to experience this would've been worth it. winking smiley

Not much to add to Rolf's post.
It was incredible, and the Hogwash - Un chien finale was over the top.

I'm not so sure wether Øyvind is back or not. Based on the the concert report, it seems to me that he only stepped in for the Un Chien d'espace performance. I do hope he'll do the same at Rockefeller, but I have my doubts. However, it seems like the guys are doing excellent as a powertrio as well, although it excludes some songs from the repertoire.

Show info:

Total lenght - 140 minutes
Un Chien Lenght - 34 minutes

(i timed it)

Good sound, and LOUD! Øyvind really peaked the experience for me. He completes the band nowadays. My back and neck is really stiff after three days of concerts. I`m glad I have taken som time off work for the next week, so I can get back on my feet. (JR Ewing played their last Trondheim-show ever this friday, in case you were wondering. It was great but sad)

Well, I reckon he's living/working in Trondheim, so he might not have the opportunity to come to Oslo..
Atleast it explains why the Trondheim-gig was the only one he attended.

Omg, 34 min Un Chien! That's awesome, I hope they pull a strecher on tuesday as well.
But then again, I'd like a bunch of the shorter good songs as well smiling smiley Meh, I'll just let them play what they play, and enjoy it, lol
Akane in Oslo now

yes. last night show was totally amazing.
Hogwash is much much cooler than before, totally bursting bass riffs, and heavy sound shake my bones, really! i do love this version. and they play very long, god, it was too good.

Un Chain also...it was yes, just i lost whole words to write about that song of last night. and yes, Øyvind brought right and cool sound and effect to that song. woa, what can i say? still can't believe i could see that. also Jacco was very good. it seems they are getting to have something now, i think they will be much much better, if they continue to do this.

Bent said that they wiped away the things which happned and find a new direction now.

keep having hopes on this amazing band.

Sp did anyone record this gig? Would love to hear the live version of Hogwash. I only have the live at Folken, Stavanger'98 version. It totally rocks. Is the "new" version very different?

This has to be one of the best gigs I have ever seen. Bent has got the insanely raw sound again, that he had around 97,98 and I'va never seen Snah enjoy himself as much on stage. And that new song, "insert song title", man that was AWESOME!!! But I guess most of the crowd did not "diserve" the gig, if you know what I mean. Seing people make faces at the most awesome songs and going bananas when they play Hyena is not the no#1 fan. And that fucking asshole who started shouting "MOTORPSYCHO, VERDENS BESTE BAND" translated; "MOTORPSYCHO, THE BEST BAND IN THE WORLD" during one of the silent parts of un chien or hogwash. Man, that shit annoys me, but still we get it every gig! I had a good time anyways, great to hear some good old tunes again. I really loved the end of the manmower jam where they "blasted off"..

audience was fine were i was. i could actually hear the buzzing of the amps during some quiet parts of Un Chien.

the highlight was of course un chien. that is was just perfect. if they manage to improve on this tomorrow, i will probably join the people giving their legs......

and i must mention again; jacco is playing great as well (as the others do). i think the band is really tight on the rock songs. but he adds so much more to the jams than in spring.

hi stein: make sure you have a good time in trondheim :p

hi, see you again soon!? akane

yeah, during the quiet parts of Un Chien everyone held their breaths. not a sound, except the band. during Øyvind's solo, Bent and Snah and Jacco just stopped playing and stood there with their eyes closed. and the audience was dead quiet, amazing!!! i've never witnessed such in norway before. even the drunk guy who were shouting earlier managed to keep it shut during that.

WHAT A GIG!
