I must just say that I listened through that Mantric Muffin clip and had to laugh at that HORRIBLE singing at 1.07 and outwards. Sure, it's cool you halfway know the lyrics, but if you can't sing - please shut up.

I do think of kdh as a filler. or at least i don't think of it as a quality mp-song anyway. i mean, the words...?! internet just mystifies, porn and spam and games and lies?? dude...

Oh, when I read through what I actually posted I see that I was quite harsh. I must've been in a bad mood when I wrote it. Sorry if I stomped on your feelings, anyway.

My thoughts:

First of all, I must say I prefer MP when they space more than they rock and this concert was very rocked.

Lots of cool and far out impro parts with noisy guitars and that's a good thing. The sound was pretty good on the mellow parts but when they rocked out hard, it was hard to tell who played what, especially in the start. They used to have better sound earlier - I mean if they had more players on stage this night, you wouldn't hear them at all. and they used to have a horn section which you could actually hear back then. "If it's too loud, you're too old" - guess I'm getting too old. Well, I like loud concerts, but it's one thing I like more - to hear all instruments clearly.

The setlist was far from the best I've heard from them, but fortunatly they always change the setlist. Do anyone at all like Neverland? STG was great, but they jammed more on it earlier. Vortex is always nice, the new Sepentine version was 100 times better than the original and upstairs was awesome too. I really don't like Hyena. Besides KDH, they only played from cd2 of BH/BC and I've never been much of a fan of that one, love cd1 though. Mantrick was great, parts of the new song (the parts when I could actually hear what they played) was great. Psychonaut was great and even if I've heard Black to Comm a bit too much, it was great. Their Jacco tour had better setlist imo. More jazzy, dreamy parts, more the Wheel, K9, SSIII, Manmower etc, but I understand their need to rock out now with the energy with the new drummer and all. I just hope they'll sooth down a bit after a while.

The drummer was really great, but someone said that all the cymbals killed the guitar and that's the problem with the sound. I don't agree. Geb used the cymbals a lot and the sound was usually great back then, justen look/listen to the online Paradiso gig from 2002. Actually I've never heard so much complaints about their sound as after Geb left the band. Not saying the sound was great then because of him, but something has happened during the "comeback".

Conclution:

All in all a good concert with with its ups and downs, lots of energy from the power trio! Not the best sound and imo not their best songs, but still the best live (and album) band I know of!

By the way. They played this mellow droney song/part - really mellow before it built up to more and more noise. MP at best! It was very similar to "Careful with that Axe, Eugene" by Pink floyd. Was that part of the new song, or a jam in one of the other songs? I can't remember, but loved that part. Hope it's on the new album!

One more thing, during all the noise I could hear some samples during KDH. It was the glockenspiel or vibes similar to the album version. Did Pidah play it?
