Mette Marit is the princess here in Norway and has made a record where she has collected her favourite psalms and made other people perform them. It's just unusual that a princess gets nominated for a 'grammy', that's what's all the fuzz is about.by Laika - Motorpsycho discussion (Old)

Fuck, if this had only been a week later.. I'm moving to Oslo at 24th of August and have no chance to come earlier. Really sad to miss this as I also love the two bands playing earlier that day - SPUNK and Lasse Marhaug!!! That would be my three favourite Norwegian bands playing at the same day, in such rare settings. When will MP play with Deathprod again? And when was the last time SPUNK playedby Laika - Motorpsycho discussion (Old)
As I said in the Roskilde-thread, I talked for a while with Kenneth after Supersilents concert there. We talked a bit about the Albini-recordings and it sounds really good (Some of what we talked about is covered in the interviews I've read after I came back though). He told me how he completely loved the sound of the drums, it was according to him one of the best drum-sounds he's ever heard. I wby Laika - Motorpsycho discussion (Old)
Comments on the setlist: In Hogwash they only played the first verse and chorus, then went into the solo. From here they went into two cover tunes one from Grand Funk Railroad (the lyrics were "Come on baby...", but I can't remember the name of the song) and then later on Halleluwah by Can, which made the whole thing last about 20 minutes. The covertunes were confirmed by Kenneth wheby Laika - Setlists (Old)
Well, the thing is. They're starting at 2AM with no bands playing after them. It actually looks like this will be a loong and good festivalconcert, perhaps they will even be allowed to play a full 2 1/2 hours show. And remember they have been great at festivals before. Just think of Roskilde 1993! (15 years anniversary at this years festival :-) )by Laika - Motorpsycho discussion (Old)
There are too few American Psychonauts..by Laika - Setlists (Old)
Can't fucking wait. I'm coming in there wasted at 2 am after running from scene to scene the whole night. I wonder what kind of songs they'll play at the festival. Anything from just LLM to lots of shorter songs is possible here.by Laika - Motorpsycho discussion (Old)
One of those symbols seems to be an anchor, dunno what the others are. Interesting, indeed!by Laika - Motorpsycho discussion (Old)
I think the band states in the commentaries to the video that it's in 1993?by Laika - Motorpsycho discussion (Old)
No, it's not the complete concert. Just 8 tracks that MP has found worthy enough to get on the DVD. I suppose that all the visual and audio-mastering was a bit of work and that Helge wouldn't want to do that on all 18 tracks.by Laika - Motorpsycho discussion (Old)
Well, in Bergen they had a pretty cool transition between KDH and the Alchemyst. Perhaps they wanted to do that again in Kristiansand?by Laika - Setlists (Old)
Wow, that I think is a fantastic setlist!! I hope I'll get to something like that in Bergen on mondayby Laika - Setlists (Old)
Didn't really like this setlist. I was hoping they would keep on from where they left at Trondheim and just keep putting in some old, fantastic songs like Taifun, Heartattack Mac and Sunchild. For me it just seems like they're trying to play as many Snah-composed tunes as possible. It looks like he's said to Bent that he wants a more leading role in the band, being more in the center of the showby Laika - Setlists (Old)
Back to the setlist, I'm really excited seeing it and hoping for some of the same songs when they play in Bergen, but I wouldn't mind if they cut some more down on the BH/BC songs. Btw, did the LLM-songs differ much from the album or were they all just replicas?by Laika - Setlists (Old)
BTW, the band Supersilent which Helge Sten plays in is playing at Roskilde this year as well. Perhaps we'll see Deathprod at the stage together with MP again?by Laika - Motorpsycho discussion (Old)
Yeah they do! I'm going to be there for sure. My Bloody Valentine, Neil Young and Motorpsycho - this will definitely be great!by Laika - Motorpsycho discussion (Old)
Dunno where you can order, but there are around on the streetcorners of Bergen. My girlfriend saw one today, and I must admit - took it down immediately to have it in her room. Really liked the design myselfby Laika - Motorpsycho discussion (Old)
1. The alchemyst (15 mins) - a massive noisy end, thanks.. 2. -> One of these days (floyd) -> Psychonaut 3. Heartattack Mac -> The Ocean In Her Eye (14 min) 4. Mountain (containing massive psycho-jam) -> On The Toad Again (12 min) 5. A Hoof to the head -> Hallucifuge (freaked and spaced out) -> The Golden Core (26 min total) 6. The Slow Phaseout (7 mins) 7. Starless (Kingby Laika - Motorpsycho discussion (Old)

Yeah, it's good - also really nice to hear those tunes live btw Saw them playing here in Bergen in Februrary. But Smile won't ever be as good as Amplifier Worship and Feedbacker! Without doubt the best Boris records.by Laika - Motorpsycho discussion (Old)
Melvins IS cool. You've got to listen to the early periods of the japanese band Boris as well, which have their name from a Melvins tune.by Laika - Motorpsycho discussion (Old)
shakti Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > The Alchemyst really reminds of Yo La Tengo's more > epic moments, BTW. Especially The Story of Yo La > Tango off of their latest. Thank you! I always thought it sounded really familiar, now I know where I have it from :p I totally agree with you on Year Zero as well.by Laika - Motorpsycho discussion (Old)
Whoo, I really like The Alchemyst as well. Fantastic song Like it much better than Year Zero which seems like is a hit in other people's homes. Well, not every moment here is perfect, but that is how it is when it's recorded "live". There's a lot of improvisation going on and it just feels so lose at the same time that it's damn tight. I can agree that it does perhaps stretch out longeby Laika - Motorpsycho discussion (Old)
Yeah, I really like the way Kapstad plays, as opposed to 'a steady groove' he just takes so much energy into the song and really lives up Motorpsycho citing John Coltrane as an inspiration (in his place it's Elvin Jones that's the inspiration though). His free-jazz take on it makes it quite interesting and there's always something going on when he's playing. I also really liked that 'psychedelby Laika - Motorpsycho discussion (Old)
It was great! Even better than the live version from Trondheim that I've been listening to a lot the last couple of days. Really enjoyed the production on it, although I couldn't really hear all the little details due to the bad streaming quality. Looking forward to 28th of April when I'm seeing them live!by Laika - Motorpsycho discussion (Old)
Just posted the same thing in the other LLM thread I was tuning in hoping to hear them getting interviewed in studio or something, but listening to the record is good aswell as I probably won't get to listen to it before tomorrow.by Laika - Motorpsycho discussion (Old)
For Norwegians who haven't got a hold of the CD, yet: Harald Are Lund is going to play a good deal from the new record tonight on his program on P3. Dunno when though.. Sometime between now and 23.00, obviously. He usually plays a good deal of interesting, new music so it's always worth to tune in, even if you'll have to wait a bit to hear Motorpsycho.by Laika - Motorpsycho discussion (Old)
