Hm, the cool thing is that they take these pretty simple/generic (especially on the bass) riffs, and just jam them to pieces, and fucking hell does it ever work.. Bomb proof is one good example, the first part of GT and the jammy midsection as well..

Well, thats interesting. I see alot of connections lyrically and thematically.

Consider Little Lucid Moments Suite, there’s a pervasive feeling of “we (humanity) are heading in the wrong direction, we need someone to get us back on track”, for instance. This is very similar to Gullible’s Travails, I get a very strong sense of Ryan thinking we (humanity) are lost in our society, ‘our momentum makes it hard to read the signs’, and even though we are aware of it ‘I pray for pardon’, being unable or unwilling to change. There’s a feeling of desperation and, to some degree, misanthropy.

Child of the Future (the song) is urging our kids, the next generation, to take the reins and not put up with all the shit we have done and are still doing (environmentally, economically, third world?). Very much in tune with what LLM Suite and GT are saying.

Also, of course, the album covers are similar in both the use of colours and the technique applied by Kim. But this also applies to earlier work, LTEC/Phanerothyme/IALC for instance.

        Maybe..?

I paid with my cell phone at Platekompaniet, worked very well :)

Hovmod: Gullible’s Travails is one of their best songs ever, for sure.

I think you’re right about those, GBD. Great job :)

Added your changes and Close Your Eyes. Now, if someone with superhuman hearing could do Bomb proof, we’re done!

Also, could someone put the huge lyric post on top? Vegard? :)

              Starhammer

It’s been a long time now since I’ve seen the sun rise high to greet a blue sky

Orbiting stoutfully I’m the starhammer, I’m bleekly keeping an eye on the world as I fly on by

              Watch me!

I’m just a watcher I do not judge or side or care, I’m just a slave

I am outside and ever will I observe, I watch, I store and I save

              What would you do?

Mutant star, I wont conceal, the believers as they bend and kneel, their backs were broken cruelly upon the wheel

              What would you do?

If you could expose some lies, straighten backs and open eyes would you cut the ??? down a size

              What would you do?

I am a starhammer, I never judge but always keep the score

I am outside and ever will I observe, I watch, I save and I store, forevermore

X-3 (Knuckleheads in space) / The Getaway Special

I wanna go I wanna get up and go man, I need a lift off and I crave the sky

I’ve been chomping at the bit for several weeks now, I’m so ready I need to get high

My adrenaline’s up beyond the scales man‚ you couldn’t kill me cause I’d never feel a thing

I might seem like I’m ??? to you and thats cool and hear they’re really singing

              It’s gonna feel so good

like we always knew it would

              In this glorious pursuit

              we’re getting in our suits

              Won’t you fly us

              past the bright shining stars

              Won’t you fly us

              to the X-3 pulsar

There’s nothing wrong there’s nothing wrong with all this brute force flinging metal to the eye in the sky

Inertial forces mass bullet skywards fighting gravity’s hold on nuclei

I’m gonna try I’m gonna try and make it matter, theres no excuses at the level we’re at

We’ll fly the flag and I know we’re representing humanity and democracy and all that

              But hey!

              It’s gonna feel so good

like we always knew it would

              Cause in this glorious pursuit

              we’re getting in our suits

              Won’t you fly us

              to the bright shining stars

              Won’t you fly us

past the moon and past Mars

              Won’t you fly us

              Won’t you fly us

              Won’t you fly us

              to the X-3 pulsar

              ??? it’s hotter than a pistol

A high energy ray gun in the swan

It’s really true it’s made of quarks man, I guess it’s just not your standard

neutron that’s at the core of this wonderful creation

              A gas sucking binary star

Thirty seven thousand light years, man that’s really way too far

              Won’t you fly us

              past the bright shining stars

              Won’t you fly us

past the moon and past Mars

              Won’t you fly us

              to the bright shining stars

The Bomb-Proof Roll and Beyond (For Arnie Hassle)

              Snah:

Round and round and round we go

              always slightly faster

Round and round and round we go

              never catching up

              Bent:

Terminal velocity team up with the void

Come on and take my hand, come on and take my hand

Lets freefall endlessly one with the void

as we go tumbling down, the strings that bind us come undone

              Both:

Will you drown in the strange brew meltdown

              or break on through

              Break on through

              Close your eyes

To say it once again may make it seem

that all we had was nothing but a dream

Please say that it’s all over, help me perceive

that all it ever was, was make believe

Dream, close your eyes and dream girl

Dream, close your eyes and dream of how it used to feel

Was it ever really quite real

Dream, close your eyes and dream girl

Dream, close your eyes and dream of how it used to feel

Was it ever really quite real

Seven seasons bloom out in june and july

Several reasons I feel like I’m shit when you lie

              That’s right!

Sister, sister, I’ve never felt so burned out

Sister, sister, what’s left when the fire has gone out

Seems it only served to magnify the pain and doubt

Stuck in stalemate with steadfast refusal to show

how much it’s hurting to not have a clue, but to know

just how painful it is to let go

When we close our eyes at night, it feels so right, we lived another day

In dreams we dive into the light, postpone the fight and it kind of feels okay

to float along, somehow belong, to not be right or wrong

All unspoken we’re keeping it civil and kind

Nothing’s broken if nobody speaks their mind

When we close our eyes at night

In dreams we dive into the light

When we close our eyes at night

It feels so right, we lived another day

In dreams we dive into the light, postpone the fight and it kind of feels okay

to float along, somehow belong, to not be right or wrong

              Gullible’s Travails (Part I-IV)

              Part I: Eye all-seeing

Call it fear, call it hope disguised as anger

perculating through the fabric of mankind

              It’s a mood, it’s a vibe that’s overwhelming

but our momentum makes it hard to read the signs

I pray for pardon, Eye All-seeing

We maintain, grab a hold and ride the tiger

gripping and just hanging on for dear life

Proud and confused we get lost in the detail

all but forgetting the reasons for the strife

I pray for pardon, Eye All-seeing

              Round and round, it’s the old familiar story;

tired eyes that never clearly see

              I guess we’ll always be

striving to be let loose and set free

Once we all got along, shared the food and the songs about us

to a common belief held by both moguls and thieves

Once we trusted and gave, now we’re masters and slaves

And what we once held so dear now we’re choking for fear

              Part II: The Elementhaler

Here I am, I am your friend, won’t you take my hand

Don’t you want to try again, don’t you understand

I’m so tired, so old and frail

I could never do what you all seem to want me to

I’m so stuck, set in my ways

I’ve no will to change, and will not ever likely do

I have fought for way too long

Now the fight’s all gone, I badly need to sleep, my friend

We have done the best we could

and our walls withstood, but now I can see the end

I give up, my time has ended, all I want’s to let go

And so, leave it be so it may start/stop to grow

              Part III: Circle

              N/A

Part IV: Phoot’s Phlower (a burly return)

So maintain, grab a hold and find a fire

grinning idiots floating dull and hypnotized

Let it grow and let it flow, let it breathe and give it love!

              I.C.U. (Boinganoid)

Seeking solace, refuge from the storm

              Seeking shelter from the norm

              Finding anger, finding pain

              Finding nothing’s ever gained

There’s no real difference ‘tween liable and true

It’s all relative to your point of view, but I see you

              I see you

              I see you

              Be a stoic

              Be a dream

Be the diamond in the sea

              Catch the fever

              Catch the sky

Catch the wind if you try

              I see you

              I see you

X3 is the optimisic one of these I guess:

We’ll fly the flag and I know were representing humanity and democracy and all that”

Also, they’re talking about flinging metal to the eye in the sky (Starhammer again), woop woop!

Man this is one great album :P

An observation: Gullible’s Travails is obviously about repentance and seeking forgiveness, and Starhammer is a sort of demigod that watches and catalogues people? But he doesn’t judge, who does? Man this is one spaced out album lyrically. Also, X-3 is about getting into space (or just getting high), and stars and I guess Starhammers? Is this a concept album?

Oh man, the Fruit is just so much more groovy than Lucid and Child, especially Gullible’s Travails. I just sink into that funky groove and fall through it, into an auditory fractal maze of soothing colours and fuzz bass goodness.

I don’t have words.. Gullible’s Travails actually made me tear up. Holy shit this is a monster of a song, from the noise intro to the synths. Jesus christ. And I’ve only listened to GT. Still five more songs to go.

Little Lucid Moments and Child of the Future, go to bed, please. Heavy Metal Fruit is in town :D
