Great idea with the On this Day in a the timeline on the right!
March 27, 2026 at 19:14 #45345Who is in charge of the technical side of the forum?
March 28, 2026 at 14:36 #45349March 28, 2026 at 23:46 #45353Hi everyone,
You asked for it before, and we’ve been working hard on it. The “gig attendance” feature is back on the website. I’ll continue expanding it over time, but first I want to see how everything evolves once it’s in use.
To use this feature, you need to create an account on the site. You can do this by clicking on “my stats” in the top navigation. This will take you to the login screen, where you can click on “register.” There, you enter your email address and username. You’ll then receive an email and can follow the steps. You can create a new password by clicking on “Lost password.” Sorry, it’s a bit of a workaround, but this was necessary for security reasons. I’ll look into whether we can simplify this.
Once you have an account, I need to approve it. I receive an email each time, so I can usually do that quickly ;-) And then you’re all set!
When you go to a “gig” page, you can click on “attend.” The data from that gig will be stored on your Stats page. And that’s where the magic happens…
Over time, more features will be added, but I first want to see how everything works in practice.
On the previous version of the database website, there was a similar feature, and quite a few people had already created an account. Unfortunately, we couldn’t reuse that data. This means those users will need to create a new account. Sorry about that, but there was no other option.
If you have any feedback about the feature or ideas of your own, feel free to share them here.
Here’s what I’m currently still working on:
• Completing the tour names. I don’t know all of them, so for now I’ve used the year. If anyone can help with this, that would be greatly appreciated.
• Expanding the song page
• Developing the album page
• Exploring possibilities to display forum posts of the setlist on the gig page of the databaseThanks and have fun!
Dennis
March 29, 2026 at 09:19 #45354This is brilliant. Can’t wait to use this feature.
Congrats on adding the map for the tours, it’s such a cool visual gimmick.
Will there also be a map on the personal stats like a fitness tracker? So I can sell my touring attendance to my wife as personal exercice. Thanks for all the great work.
March 29, 2026 at 10:21 #45355@crunch how would you like the map to be visualized on the personal stats page?
I assume you’ve visited the same venue multiple times, so I’m thinking of showing a single map marker with the number of visits.
The tricky part is what happens when you click the marker. For example, if you’ve been to the same venue 10 times, I’d need to display all 10 dates within that one marker. Or do you have any other idea?
Thanks!
March 29, 2026 at 12:21 #45356I think the map could be right under the first container, since it is a cool visual overview.
The Motorpsycho footprint background color is maybe too similar to the Dig Deper section, it would benefit from being more prominent.
Maybe as tabs? One tab for the map, one for the footprint?I noted this while quickly browsing :
Personal footprint
Most Visited Country
belgium <—- no caps in the countryTours page
Link to https://mpdb.no/stats/tour/?tour=2025 gets a 404This is so cool, I’ve been reading setlists of shows I forgot I attended thanks to adding them to my stats.
For instance this show, which was an absurdly good and fun show :
March 29, 2026 at 15:23 #45357Amazing job, great to have the gig attendance back, as well as all the statistics!
Love it!
March 30, 2026 at 17:39 #45360You are able to add comments on each gig.
April 1, 2026 at 08:07 #45369I love the new mpdb, thanks. I just wanted to report two missing shows in Bergen 31.04.23 and 01.05.23 during Festspillene. It was Bent, Snah, Tos and the dancer Hooman Sharifi. The venue was Den Nasjonale Scene. The show was called Sacrificing. It’s in the gigs list on motorpsycho.no. At least I can’t find it in mpdb.
And this gig was not in Bergen,Ibsenhuset is in Skien:

April 1, 2026 at 10:41 #45371@psychotzar, thanks for the info. I’ve added both shows to the database. Do you happen to know which songs were played at these shows ?
I’ve changed Bergen to Skien for that specific gig.
April 1, 2026 at 13:48 #45372@Blashyrk I found some info in the thread Motorpsycho Live 2023. The only song with vocals was Sister Ray by Velvet Underground. This was not a typical Motorpsycho gig. I remember the guitar from Chariot of the Sun in the beginning of the gig, but it was mostly electronic music, droning or whatever it’s called. And they used a drum machine 🙈 So the only certain song is Sister Ray. I was there 31.05.23. It was actually not interesting enough to see it two times.

April 1, 2026 at 16:06 #45375Update:
I’ve created a new feature that automatically pulls posts from this forum into the MPDB site. When a setlist is added here, I simply add the forum link to the corresponding gig on MPDB, and it will automatically fetch the posts from that specific thread.
It’s not instant, it checks every night for new posts on recent gigs within a timeframe of up to one year.
If the forum is ever down, no worries: all forum posts are stored in the MPDB database.
I’ve only added forum threads from the “Setlists” section. I won’t go looking into the thousands of threads on this forum if there are other setlists :-D
Where can you find that on MPDB:
– if a Gig has comments or forum posts, you’ll see a speech bubble icon on the Gig item in the top right corner.
– When you are on the gig page itself, you need to scroll down to “Member Comments” and “Forum”Now, I’m out of ideas for new features… The coming days weeks, I’ll check if there is feedback of you guys and try to progress that. I’ll also add the Tussler gigs to the database. And i’ll see if there are some design tweaks needed for a better usability.

April 1, 2026 at 20:41 #45378The current version of the MPDB site is pretty complete, and awesome in many ways. Love the maps, the footprint and such an easy access to clips and recordings.
Brilliant all around. Thanks again for allowing this to exist in such a cool format and for taking into consideration the feedback of the community. There are some other things that could be considered like gamification of show attendance or activity on the forum, etc, but I don’t think it’s very much the vibe between psychonauts.
Maybe one fun thing : create your own “Roadwork”, where we can create playlist of selected live songs from the available recording we think are at the Roadwork level, and make our own little online bootleg. “Psychonaut Roadwork”, sorta. With an option to upload our own artwork for it.
It could allow the creation of fun concepts, like for instance 10 chronological live versions of “Mountain” over the span of 20 years to see how much it evolved through the years, or something like covers only playlist, or “best of live Reine”, rarest live songs, etc.
Just thinking out loud, hoping this makes sense.Edit : also, why not adding a discography section? Lifting up most of the data from Discogs but with maybe higher resolution images? And an option to also indicate what we have in our collection (with even more data, like % of LP own, % of 7″, etc)

April 2, 2026 at 09:50 #45381Thanks for the kind words, Crunch!
I’ve also thought about adding some gamification, but I’m not sure that feature is really necessary or desired by the Psychonauts.
I really like your idea of creating your own Roadworks. It adds a nice “community” aspect to the website. The only thing we can’t do is allow uploading artwork directly to the site. We have limited storage space and want to use it wisely. It could work if the artwork is hosted somewhere else, though.
Adding the discography could be possible. But why not use Discogs itself?
