Hello all, long time lurker first time poster, 10-year MP fan.
I’m finally popping my motorpsycho cherry in Stavanger on 13/4, I can’t begin to tell you how excited I am. The Crucible has blown my mind, such an amazing album. Lux Eterna gets me emotional…like I sobbed uncontrollably on my third or fourth listen when the “big chorus†comes in. It’s definitely up there with their best work. But that’s just my opinion, man.
So, I didn’t want to make this a long post, but I’m a Brit based in the US and somewhat frustrated that MP never play over here. But also that’s kind of understandable as I feel like I might be the only fan here. But this time home to see my family over Easter, I was determined to see my rock n roll idols live and booked a whistle-stop trip to Stavanger. Anyway, I just came here to say I can’t bloody wait. Because nobody else I know seems to understand the magnitude of this situation 😬
Sail the eff on Paychonauts!
March 2, 2019 at 21:52 #35071Hello @TrustMe, that's fantastisk, buddy! You're sure to have a blast at the concert! And a warning: you'll get addicted to seeing them live immediately. Like you, I went to my first concert (10-2017) after having been a collector and fan since longtime (early nineties), and I remember clearly afterwards shouting out in the parkinglot what a fool I am for not having attended their concerts earlier on!Their albums are great, but live performances are the bigger ballgame!
Hope to hear from you a lot on the forum,
March 3, 2019 at 05:52 #35072@TrustMe – Very happy for you. Fellow Brit here who only got the bug in last couple years. But heed JERO's words – the live experience is something else – I've been spending shed loads to get to shows in Europe since my first gig in Oct 17. But be sure to bring earplugs just in case – they do play effing loud.

We might meet in Stavanger, then
Folken is a classic venue for an MP show, good choice!
March 3, 2019 at 12:14 #35074I envy everyone who's about to see MP for the first time. Though it wasn't so spectacular for me. Bizarre '95, super small venue, 4 bands on the bill, didn't know who'd play when and when MP did, I wasn't even sure if it was them due to them playing quite a few songs unbeknownst to me, and me standing in the back with no clear view of any bandmember's face, which I wasn't too familiar with to begin with anyway.
But to experience their live prowess nowadays for a first time while expecting a maybe decent or even great show but eventually being blasted to Cygnus X-1 and back, woah! Envy alert!!!
So have fun!
March 7, 2019 at 04:07 #35075Thanks guys! Your responses have only made me more excited! Just from reading this forum (and, uh, drunkenly splurging on all the Roadwork vinyls last year) I know I'm in for a hell of a ride.
@mefisto – I'm glad I made a good choice! It was pretty much the only show that fit into my travel schedule…maybe bump into you there!
@supernaut – you envy me?!?! Obviously the band has come a long way since those heady days but I wouldn't mind being able to witness the evolution of a rock juggernaut since the mid-90s! The grass is always greener on the other side I guess -
