“So ne Obstschale ist schon was feines. Und gesund noch dazu. Vielleicht auch einer der Gründe, warum Motorpsycho mittlerweile seit 20 Jahren auf den Bühnen der Welt unterwegs sind und mit “Heavy Metal Fruit” Ihren, mittlerweile 15ten, Longplayer vorlegen. Die Skandinavier sind uns aber keineswegs überdrüßig und begeistern seit eh und je mit Ihrem bunten Rockallerlei.

Das verhält sich auch auf “Heavy Metal Fruit” nicht anders. Eine Stunde feinste Rockunterhaltung, verteilt auf gerade einmal sechs Songs, verlangt einiges an Aufmerksamkeit vom Hörer. Diese fordert man auch heraus, schon der Opener lässt nach langem Sound-off Intro, plötzlich dem Bass freien Lauf. Ein episches Bombastrockmonstrum bahnt sich schreddernd seinen Weg, um ebenso plötzlich wieder das Tempo herunterzufahren und proglastig zu werden. Durchgängig auf dem Gas bleibt nur “X-3 Knuckleheads in Space / The Getaway Special”. Dessen dengelnde Gitarren auf einem schnaubenden Basslauf nur die richtige 70ies Rockrefrainwelle abwarten, auf der es sich zu reiten lohnt. Diesem Sound bleibt auch “The Bomb Proof – Roll and Beyond” treu. Sorgt aber mit psychedelischen Einlagen für deutlich bewusstseinserweiternde Nuancen, was die schwächliche Ballade “Close your eyes” auch leichter vergessen macht. Das Trommelinferno “W.B.A.T” ist nichts als verzerrtes Gespratzel und führt direkt zum zwanzigminütigen Epos “Gullibles Travails ( Pt I – IV )”, was mit improvisierenden Jameinlagen die aufkommende Langeweile stets rechtzeitig zu vertreiben vermag. So abwechslungsreich wie die heimische Obstschale bringen Motorpsycho Ihre Vitamine unters Volk, auch wenn sich zwischenzeitlich etwas Fallobst mit eingeschlichen hat.”
