Which Roadburn was that? (OOR review)

[Little Lucid Me]

This is a rather intriguing review of the recent Roadburn gig, first of all because contrary to the author’s claim the main hall wasn’t packed to the rafters, and second because the audience was initially so quiet that Bent made a sarcastic comment along the lines of “Ya’ll still awake?”, adding something about everyone likely being “medicated”.

Then there is the additional curious case of the set list mentions, because unless I had a narcoleptic fit I certainly didn’t hear them play Hey Jane. And I didn’t hear them play Hightimes [sic], either!

“Snel door naar MOTORPSYCHO. De grote zaal is afgeladen en de psychedelische rockers reageren wat verlegen op het gejoel en gebrul van het publiek. Laten we maar gewoon gaan spelen, zie je ze denken. En spelen doen ze, zo’n tweeënhalf uur lang. Om na de laatste liedjes doodnormaal terug te komen en er een toegift van twintig minuten tegenaan te gooien. Het is een bijzonder lange zit, maar gelukkig komt er veel moois voorbij: Little Lucid Moments, Hey Jane, Hightimes, allemaal perfect gespeeld en voorzien van lange jams en instrumentale pareltjes. Gitarist Snah en bassist Bent Sæther brullen elk nummer er even strak uit en laten het publiek verdwaasd en extatisch achter. reviewers seem to make more and more mistakes. I went to see Shellac last week and in a review i red they didn’t play any new song (i counted 5) snd that the drummer was shirtless at one point. Well, i wasn’t on drugs or anything, but the drummer had his shirt on the whole gig. Strange.
