saw them twice this spring, utrecht and brussels and it was great.

if you ask me they get bettet and better and better.

one of the handful of best live bands at least. hope for more gigs later this year

Battles have a new record out and an awesome live recording done at the Paris City Hall.

Gonna see them in Munich next week!

… and it was the best concert I've seen in a long time…. be sure to check out BATTLES when you have the chance. They are just awesome and there's nothing like them out there.

seen BORIS for the first time. they were quite amazing. didn't know them before. they played some biker rock riffing, some heavy stuff that reminded me of demon box, some j-pop whacky pop tunes and one epic doom sludge hymn. phew…

so any experts here who can tell me what albums i should look into? they got about a hundred i think…

oh, not hundred, only twenty or so I think. ( ok 17 full lenght, three live albums and six with merzbow and some other collaboration – and that since 1996)

buy them all, you can't do anything wrong. 8)

          but:

both heavy rocks are quiete great, I think. the one from 2002 is that one in their discographie what timothy's is in motorpsycho's. in many points – maybe the best album from them and it was totaly new for them when it came out.

the band made this year 3 new great records (if you will count the collaboration with merzbow four)so far, no idea how many records will follow this year , but the heavy rocks 2011 is simply awesome. :-)

If you like drone the "The Thing Which Solomon Overlooked" serie is very good. I'm not so deep in this drone thing, but this 3 records are very intense, just like sunn O)))

saw you boris together with russian circles?

they are on co headliner tour at this moment, I'll see them in a few days in hamburg and I'm really looking forward to this event. :-)

I ordered the Live in Japan DVD and the Heavy Rocks 2011 and Attention Please albums. I liked the indiepoppy songs from that latter one a lot at the show ("hope"!!). Some friends were not so happy there but I didn't have any idea what Boris are "supposed to be like" so I was open per default. Good for me, I'd say. :D

I think "Feedbacker" is quite the pick for droning stuff, no? That older Heavy Rocks I obviously must have too if it's their TM.

I didn't know Russian Circles before but I was quite disappointed. The song structures were all the same. Starting with some soft drone, then suddenly drumbeat in, guitar tapping, looped into the fx pedal and then quite generic metal riffing all over it. Meh, not my cup. For instrumental music which I guess should come across as "epic" and "adventurous", it was way too generic in terms of melody, chord structures and grooves. Bass way too low, probably three octaves down and distorted, hardly hearable what the heck he was doing down there, yawn, sorry. But the drummer was good. He was fun to watch and listen to, like all these Keith Moonishy drummers are.

Next shows Sebadoh and the mighty mighty Melvins.

Oh, I didn't see R.C. yet, but i like theire records. specily the last one (?) geneva.

So I hope that I will enjoy them live, but what you write sounds not so good to me, anyway. boris are always fantastic live.

Now I will go to NoMeansNo here in Bielefeld at the forum, very great live band, too. :D

Looks like Opeth's fan base is caught up in a dispute fight about the new album Heritage. In my opinion it's well worth the money. In fact i love it!

              Check it out here: null

Wilco played the second time the rolling stone weekender, few weeks ago.

last sunday it was broadcast on german tv, it is online here: http://www.wdr.de/tv/rockpalast/extra/videos/2011/1111/wilco.jsp and since yesterday it's on dime, too. http://www.dimeadozen.org/torrents-details.php?id=386016

I love this band a lot for a long time, but the new album and theire actually live performances are the best at least since yankee hotel foxtrot times

sadly that wilco wasn't allowed to play a whole concert.
