You are the only one rock “avant-garde”…
You explore all rock senses and foud a confused way….confusion it’s true…certainty is death…
Thanks Motorpsycho i love you and I feel you inside of me like i feel the blue sky:)

January 19, 2010 at 20:06 #14992@Neil Tesor: at the enda of X3, the band stops, Snah(?) says “Fy faen” and then Kenneth start up the beat…
January 19, 2010 at 20:35 #14993The vinyl looks great!! Great cover, and a fantastic etching on the vinyl. A piece of art!
January 19, 2010 at 23:03 #14994New albums from jaga jazzist, Shining and Motorpsycho. Oh, the happy days are back. All of them real belters!
January 20, 2010 at 08:03 #14995Ok, i need to clarify something:
I listened to the vinyl on monday and heard the “fy faen”. I even jumped back an tried to hear what else they said in the background.
[digress: such verbal outbursts are great. I remember “Oh Comely” by Neutral Milk Hotel getting more epic hearing a band members outburst in the background as the song ends]
But, when i listened to my iPod this morning (where i have uploaded the CD version) the song is different – no outburst and with a different ending.
Anyone?
#colinahuevo: The Shining album is f**king amazing! Have yet to hear Jagas new disc.
January 20, 2010 at 10:30 #14996just listened to X3 on vinyl and it’s different than the CD it ends funny
January 20, 2010 at 13:05 #14997It’s not very cool to be the negative one in a thread that’s overloaded with lavish reviews, but I don’t like it much. Of course I still need some time to let it sink in but I have a bad feeling about this.
As much as I love the band this just doesn’t do it for me. It’s fairly overproduced and unnatural sounding. The snare drum is the worst of all, it’s really polished and it hardly sounds like a snare. Guitar sound is cool though. Some of the riffs are very generic and boring. The jamming is aimless. X3 has to be the worst thing they ever recorded, I don’t understand why there have to be 4 verses that are almost exactly the same, based on a riff that anyone could have written.
I really like the song Close your Eyes, also in this short version, but even that’s kind of killed by the production. Too sweet. The bombproof roll and beyond is a nice song though, WBAT and Gullible’s Travels are quite good too.
Anyway of all the things I’ve seen on the internet I seem to be the only one that doesn’t like it as much as the previous albums. The band still deserves all the praise they’re getting and just a few months ago one of my favourite gigs in years took place which was by Motorpsycho, so i’m not losing hope.
January 20, 2010 at 13:59 #14998You sound like I did a few days ago, Joeri. But after a few spins I saw the light. BAM! Now I’m a believer. I too was writing about aimless jams and generic riffing and now I’m sooooo embarrased about this. Really. Let it grow.
January 20, 2010 at 14:01 #14999x3 differs on cd and vinyl? damn, i want my vinyl!
January 20, 2010 at 14:03 #15000@supernaut & joeri: I had similar feelings about it when I listened to it using that dutch prelistening website. But I think it has some potential, I’ll give the album its chance to grow on me once I received either CD or LP (amazon apparently has shipped my CD today, so let’s cross fingers I get it by friday).
January 20, 2010 at 23:10 #15001Got my vinyl today. A thing of beauty!!
X-3 indeed is different. Love this band!!
January 20, 2010 at 23:25 #15002The album was boring at first listen on the internet-stream, but with the vinyl at a high volume i was totaly blown away. Then again on my ipod on my way to work, i kinda´ lost interest, and only noticed the kind of boring and “generic” riffing.. and Bent´s not so nice vocals(the ones where he tends to squeel like a pig or pronounce words like “Eyes” like it´s written in norwegian). But back at the stereo i´m blown away again.
I figure this album needs attention and good sound…
Love the Hukkelberg-vocals!
