There isn't much wrong about noticing a passage of music each time you a song. It just shows that everyone has a different way to appreciate art.

Some nerdism actually elevates my appreciation for music. Noticing little tweaks and feats here and there. It only gets questionable if a performance gets judged by its perfection versus fails or sloppyness. I imagine a Dream Theater audience would fall into that latter category and that's the sad way to appreciate art and rocknroll in peculiar.
