wow, where was I?
if it wasn’t some alternative local station, it must have been on couleur 3. the only big station that matters in switzerland.
January 21, 2010 at 18:07 #15019Off topic, guys..!
January 22, 2010 at 13:32 #15020So, FINALLY I got my LP. I was about to drive to amazons HQ and kill somebody there ;P
Uff. I shall listen to this now.
January 22, 2010 at 15:20 #15021something off topic:
here’s a german review of the new album by “creature with the atom brain”, a psychedelic rock band from belgium. they say that they were support for motorpsycho….can’t remember that….is that true?
January 22, 2010 at 17:44 #15022~Ahhh~ The fat warm sound of the record finally spinning on my player: Fruit is much more physical from vinyl… love this ending of X3 (nice surprise!), great packaging and artwork
update:
the intro to “Starhammer” is also different (no synths, only pure analog on vinyl)
January 22, 2010 at 20:12 #15023First listen: this has potential. I dont think I will rank it above MPs classic albums, but definitely above the last two. Very nice listen indeed I’m now glad that I got the vinyl first.
January 22, 2010 at 21:30 #15024@Un Chien: possibly, I’ll have a look at my concert posters.
January 22, 2010 at 21:59 #15025Just finished a third spin so time to share an opinion. On first listen, I was somewhat underwhelmed… maybe because I was doing other stuff while listening. Only Gullible left an immediate impression. But no worries, I have this with most recent MP albums, they need to grow on me. Sound on my stereo was a bit muffled here and there, but generally it sounds great, crisp, well-produced.
Well, growing happened quite fast with this one. Second spin (iPod) was a whole different experience and the third one has me really enthousiastic. Fantastic playing by all three, in perfect balance. Even the vocals are good for MP standards.
Starhammer: slightly different opinion than others in this thread. I love the jam/middle part, the main riff has not fully convinced me yet but is quite good.
X-3: different, great song, not typical MP but looking forward to seeing this live. Am I the only one that is reminded of Queen by the little chorus?
Bomb-proof: solid track, like it.
Close your eyes: very nice, well-performed, good vocals. I wonder what will happen with it live. I don’t suppose they will bring a piano. Maybe they will play the long/different version from the 2002 tours (a highlight in most of the shows from those days)? This is something I wonder about for some other songs as well. What about the synths, trumpets, how will it work out live (without them)?
W.B.A.T.: another very nice track, still making up my mind
Gullible: what can I say. I simply love this. What a song. Great vocals by Hanne, great structure/build up.
What a band…
January 23, 2010 at 05:14 #15026X-3 reminds me of ACDC’s Let There Be Rock:

January 23, 2010 at 12:40 #15027Man I hadn’t even heard about the new album until last weekend. I have been without internet due to a new house and the atteched work that meant. Only for the better I guess, it saved me from a long wait. I mannaged to pick up the album yesterday along with a original copy of Damon box. I was able to scare my college with Damon box, the new one she said she didn’t mind.
I have lsted to it during the day and again this morning. I must say I rather like it. If I must name something I missed then it must be the fact that in comparison with Child of the futre it didn’t have the sorter point jump around song. Damn my LP’s are still in a box and I can’t think of the title. Anyway Knucklehead in space is very sweet and the rest will probable grown strong as I listen to it more and more. I can’t say i care for the artwork very much. I think it is a bit to thought up for me. I don’t know it just doens’t do it for me this time. Off course the cover of Demon box is very nice.

January 23, 2010 at 13:09 #15029@ Un.Chien :
That’s correct about ‘Creature with the Atom Brain’. It’s an Antwerp-based band and they did
support for MP when they played in Antwerp 2 years ago @ Hof ter Loo.
That’s where I bought my ‘Heavy Metal Fruit’ shirt!
January 23, 2010 at 13:21 #15030ah, ok. thanks gert!
January 23, 2010 at 17:00 #15031Did we summarize the differences between vinyl and CD yet?
This is what I remember we have… besides the soundquality:
1) “Starhammer” – different intro (no synths on vinyl)
2) “X3/Gateway” – different outro (singing and whole arrangement!)
3) “Bomb-Proof” – different intro (longer on vinyl)
to be continued
January 23, 2010 at 17:42 #15032wow! really need to get my vinyl!
