November 13, 2012 at 14:03 #23183Hey notcalledDanielanymore, you must have been quite close to me.
It really puzzles me how one can criticize the singing at these 2 shows. Flawed? Well yes it sort of was, but not only should the long term MP listener be aware of this and not only have I never heard them sing this well before and not only have they awesomely written (!!!) vocal lines, I also wonder what kind of "good singing" is expected here? Some Dream Theater überballsy rock shouting? I surely hope not. But luckily that'll never happen.
November 13, 2012 at 14:23 #23184Yes, not too much talk about this any more. Just want to add this: I love sloppy singers! For example, I saw Dave Grohl, Billy Corgan, Thurston Moore etc… but they just got the vocal energy on the stage. They tried to get the best out of it. When I see MP sing I always want them to be alot more up front in the crowds face and emotions because I know they can! It just ruins the so well written vocal lines live. More emphasis on the singing and this band would go even more far live because instrumentally they are still the best for me.
November 13, 2012 at 14:39 #23185Slightly off topic, sorry for that – just couldn't resist
For those who still complain about the vocals – have a look at this one first, and come back if you believe you have a case.

November 13, 2012 at 16:10 #23187November 13, 2012 at 16:25 #23188Whats up with Foo Fighters tunes on the page? Dave Grohl is technically a 10 times better singer than both Bent and Snah.
But hey; their music is non-comparable! Motorpsycho has 10 times more soul than Foo Fighters, and they are also 100 times better musicians. Ever heard a Foo Fighters epic jam live?
Bent is my fav singer, though he´s not flawless!
It´s a part of Motorpsycho, and I like the whole package!
November 13, 2012 at 17:32 #23189So now please don't shoot at me because I critizise your (and also my) favourite band. I enjoyed the opera show as much as you do but for me their vocals just didn't do it.
Dave Grohl is surely not better technically (and I didn't compare the bands style, just what the singers get out of their potential). He just shouted his ass off for now over 15 years on various stages in the world and so got a pretty good voice by that.
He and also MP cannot and will never compete to naturally talented singers as Kurt Cobain, Robert Plant, Chris Cornell, Zack De La Rocha, Jon Anderson, Ian Gillan etc….
And I don't even care about that because I love the charming imperfection factor.
But it's sad MP doesn't do more out of it live because they could (like on their albums), imho.
November 13, 2012 at 19:33 #23190I think we got it!î„Â
November 13, 2012 at 19:42 #23191I do see some of exDaniel's points. But although I absolutely like and even love some of the mentioned singers, I would never want one of them in Motorpsycho. No Plant for Vortex Surfer, no Cornell for Taifun, no Zack for Nothing to Say and hell no Jon Anderson for Mutiny.
I have to disgree with the emotion thing: MP singing is PURE UNFILTERED emotion. Always. Emotion is not just screaming on top of yr lungs.
November 13, 2012 at 19:47 #23192what happened with the Nidarosdomen show? is there ever a chance for a release of some kind?
November 13, 2012 at 19:55 #23193At the moment this is as close as you can get
From varoius interviews etc it seems they have not decided how to release it yet, but it is likely something will come out sooner or later.
November 13, 2012 at 20:12 #23194yes thanks I was just watching that. It's sooo brilliant. They can't not release this. I think I hear snippets of "Sharks" there.
November 14, 2012 at 12:10 #23195Agree, that were two totally great shows.
At the first show I saw in the first extra row just in front of bent. the sound was great,a rough typically motorpsycho sound. I could see the deep emotions in bent's and snah's eyes and faces. But a lot from the visuals wasn't really to see, the place was to close to stage.
the second show I saw from the 4 th raw. There was a more different clear sound and I enjoyed The visuals a lot.
From the venue over the atmosphere, the awesome lights & visuals to all fantastic musicans on stage -perfect.
I think I get Daniels point, but not agree. For me the singing was better as I expect that they can do. It was even better than during theirs good vocals during the spring tour this year.
For me there was only one thing that they can do better in trondheim.
Please let the audiance see when ole plays he violin like hell.
The place behind the drumset wasn`t the best, I think
btw – the domkirken concert is still on dime & on motortrades, but yes, it worth a release from the band, off course.
the night before I was at the two gallants concert at john dee (nice venue) – they were good, but the steaming satellites, the support, was even better. After the concert they played blissard over the pa until they cut it during s.t.g.
November 14, 2012 at 12:23 #23196yeah steaming satellites are great! saw them this summer at a festival…they remind me of portugal.the man….by the way, superstooka, did you grow your hair long? think i saw you but wasn't sure…
