I received both CDs a few days back. I have been delighted to be able to play Child of the Future LOUD on CD players dotted around the place – and in the car! It’s in my top 5 MP albums, even though I find the rankings rather fluid! Ahsol Caravan is a pleasure of an entirely different kind. (I suppose that would be of the Ahsol variety.)

Can they come and shag the UK? I think we might already be fucked though…

Received Ahsol Caravan today. I knew it was gonna be a record I don’t listen to that often. But at least I know the purchase of it funds exciting MP releases in the future :-)

The Coming of Prince Rupert is the closest thing to an actual song here (great guitar solos by Snah, reminds me of Manuel Göttsching alà Ashra era.) And the 10 minute drone about Yeni the Yeti is really mesmerizing and hypnotic.

I have to be in a specific mood to listen to this record.
The movie synopsis in the inlay tray is hilarious though :yahoo:

I got a mail 12 days ago that said my record(s) had been shipped. No tracking number, however, so I have no idea of the current whereabouts of the package. I usually receive an sms or a note in my mailbox when it has arrived at my local, uhm, post i butikk (I live in Norway), but no news so far. I rarely buy stuff online anymore and don’t really know how long these things take domestically. Anyone?

@Ratmaus: I received the same mail 12 days ago. But according to the tracking at posten.no, it was sent from Trondheim Monday this week. Guessing the Greece/Bulgaria concerts this weekend delayed things.

90 seconds after I posted that, the universe responded with an sms containing the tracking number, haha. :mp:

@otherdemon: Ah, Ashra! Wonderful stuff! New Age of Earth is a great favourite of mine!

Ok, some random thoughts on Ahsol Caravan after picking it up today:

                      1) The last time I bought a CD (not counting those enclosed with Mojo magazine) may have been in 2008. Do all CD releases look this cheap nowadays, or is this just a low-budget release (like Theo Buhara’s movies)? One sheet booklet, strangely blurry print on thinnnnn paper. It’s almost like a fancy bootleg. Hmm. Now that I think about it, I must say it suits the whole thing.

                      2) So, is the movie/album title some kind of nod to the psych/proto-krautrock band Xhol Caravan?

                      3) I guess the throat singing on track 9 is the closest I’ll ever get to my dream of hearing MP jamming with Huun-Huur-Tu. Still pretty fucking far from the real deal, though!

                      4) I love detours like this.

I finally got around to listening the remastered CotF CD (received it a couple of days ago) and just wanted to say WOW what an amazing work they did with it! Almost like listening to a new album. :stg:
