Here is the tracklist of the new album, in correct spelling and with running times:
…………………………………..
HEAVY METAL FRUIT
1) Starhammer (12:40)
2) X-3 (Knuckleheads in space) (09:00) *
3) The bombpoof roll and beyond (6:00)
4) Close your eyes (3:30)
5) W.B.A.T. (9:40)
6) Gulliver’s travails Pt. I-IV (22:00) **
(total: 62:10)
…………………………………..
* feat. Matthias Eick on trumpet
** feat. Hanne Hukkelberg on vocals
It’s a thorough prog rock effort with a jazzy touch. Great production and heavily orchestrated with the use of mellotrons, synths etc. The first half features some organic and open improvs, the second half is more composed ultimately climaxing in a sweet and sticky synth-prog-overload in the last track.
Just thought I’d add that to the comprehensive info contained in Thomas’s interview/article.

November 13, 2009 at 13:07 #14719Thx for the info Thomas! So one of the tracks is called Starhammer (sounds like the title of a Manowar song  )
EDIT: Close Your Eyes only 3 and a half minutes long??? And what does W.B.A.T stand for?

Rick Wakeman lives!
the preview wets me mouth by saying it’s the best sounding album so far. and mellotrons and prog structures and jazz and metal. sounds like demon box 2010. so happy to be aware of this band.
November 13, 2009 at 13:57 #14723If Motorpsycho would’ve asked me “How would you like our next record to sound?” I probably would have answered something like: “A thorough prog rock effort with a jazzy touch. Great production and heavily orchestrated with the use of mellotrons, synths etc. The first half feature some organic and open improvs, the second half more composed ultimately climaxing in a sweet and sticky synth-prog-overload in the last track”.
Then i’d probably add “Oh, and could you get Hanne Hukkelberg to sing on it?”…
November 13, 2009 at 14:00 #14724@supernaut: just a hint – “best sound in the new line up (Kenneth era)”
November 13, 2009 at 14:42 #14725thanks, thomas!
November 13, 2009 at 14:45 #14726@Hyena: We are twins.
Seriously, I have always been a huge prog rock (old prog, not cheesy neo prog etc.) lover, and with LLM, CotF and now apparently HMF, Motorpsycho has started delivering like never before. This is so incredibly awesome, I have no (more) words.
Also also: Now I’m glad I had german in school, I can read almost the entire interview.
November 13, 2009 at 17:10 #14727it all sounds so fantastic – can it be true?
:MPD:

yes yes i know. i was to gb976fd/&çtgglu about the news to care too much for details.
November 17, 2009 at 11:18 #14729Close your eyes (3:30).. 3.30 is useually the max length for a pop song to be able to be played on MTV or whatever, maybe it’s a popsong parodyish thing.. would be fun. Looking so much forward to this album : )
November 17, 2009 at 16:42 #14730I so hope it doesn’t suck.
November 18, 2009 at 08:41 #14731Thanks alot for the info guys! Can´t wait for the album!

(…and considering that Bent likes SUNN0))), here´s hoping for some motorpsyckedelic dronemetal)
Quote:ultimately climaxing in a sweet and sticky synth-prog-overload in the last track. This might be a potential classic, but the skeptic in me is sceptial
November 19, 2009 at 10:57 #14732I am listening to it for the first time now.
Everything said in this thread is true: it sounds great and full, it features quite some improvised parts, its riffs are pretty much classic rock riffs, sometimes with a certain twist, they’re occasionally drifting into Jazz … yet I can’t hear anything really Heavy Metal.
If you like that, you’ll be happy with this record which captures exactly the essence of what MP is in 2009.
I think I can already say that this won’t become my fav MP record, since I prefer their song-oriented outputs more.
