If you needed reminding, Soundgarden was (is?) one hell of a live band. Check out their new live record Live on I-5 containing recordings of their last tour in '96. Amazing and powerful stuff.

We have some cool new songs that we are going to record very soon. Thank you for all of the support!Loudest of Love,

April 8, 2011 at 15:17 #12806My band finally released our album on Elektrohasch records (www.elektrohasch.de):
Prelisten here: http://www.myspace.com/dawnband
We say: Sonic Youth meets Motorpsycho meets Quotsa with a touch of Foo Fighters energy!
Hope to play some concerts in the near future!!
April 8, 2011 at 21:29 #12807Hey Daniel,
I listened to the music on your MySpace and I like it very much!
Great songs and great musicianship (that includes your vocals), the music is ideal for driving…
it's a pity I don't have a driving license!
If I would have your album I could lie down on my couch and pretend that I'm driving through a beautiful, sunfilled landscape with the music coming out of the carspeakers
Keep up the good stuff!
Some friends of mine are also with Elektrohasch Records, The Machine:
April 9, 2011 at 09:21 #12808Woah Dawnband! Hope you make it to Zurich one day.
April 9, 2011 at 09:30 #12809@crackpot: Thanks for the response and "review". Cool you like the vocs, it's the part to stuggle the most with but most important is that it fits.
I know The Machine, great band from the label! If you want a CD, I can send you… contact: oidweibasumma@yahoo.de Some more Moogs and Hammond on there as well!
@supernaut: Thanks! Should play live soon, Zurich would be great to play!

May 23, 2011 at 17:04 #12811Great line up!
May 31, 2011 at 15:57 #12813I'm not into progrockmetalcrap. Tool is probably the only other band I like next to this one. I enjoy their music because there's a strong 70ties rock vibe to it and they know how to write a tune. So I just got back from Frankfurt, where for the first time ever I've seen them live:
that's the intro movie shown before the first set. there was another one for the 2nd set. in the last years they got more and more into comedy. old rockers having the time of their lives.
the proper show, check that backline: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wVAgOfQ2b88
edit: why did i post that other clip? boring boring boring doesn't make them any justice. here's a better one:
June 3, 2011 at 16:22 #12814Been to Primavera Sound Festival last week: Beside many highlights I have to say the SWANS totally blew me away – this is the roots of all psychosis climax!
June 4, 2011 at 00:24 #12815Ah, Swans. I was heavily into them during the 90s – thrilled to hear they're touring again. Their last two albums (Soundtracks for the Blind and the live album Swans are Dead) are beyond recommended for anyone into the dark drony side of MP.
Helpless Child, from that album: here in two parts, with the "intro" and "song" portions in part one and the great droning, pulsing climax in part 2.

(Incidentally, the "Swans are Dead" album features tracks from the final concert of their farewell tour – recorded in Trondheim.)
June 4, 2011 at 08:24 #12816i notice i'm getting too old for depressing music. stuff i listened to in the 90ties i can't bear anymore. is that a good or a bad thing?
as bart simpson said "making teens depressed is like shooting fish in a barrel".
June 4, 2011 at 08:39 #12817btw the F# chord Alex Lifeson is talking about here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EY1veCiyfI4&feature=related
…is special to Rush nerds because it's used as almost opening chord in their 2007 song "far cry" at 0'13":
as well as opening chord in their prog piece "hemispheres" in 1977:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1mX-re9vwzM
Now can it be that Snah nicked it from there for that interlude chord in "feedtime" at 1'36"?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2RlX1j5cp5U
and interestingly enough Rush themselves used it on "far cry" in 2007 in a very similar way as Motorpsycho in "feedtime". Some tricky intro riffing and then opening things up with that chord. Hmmm…
June 4, 2011 at 23:32 #12818@TAF: Thanks for the clips, very spheric bits – the seem to be harder these days (or live in general?) – here's a terrifying bit from Pimavera:

June 5, 2011 at 09:20 #12819Seen the Young Gods last night for the umpteenth time in a very small nice club. What can I say? Do they just get better and better or was it just an extraordinary show? Band in a great fun mood, played for 100min at least.
everytime that bass kicks in towards the song's end the world explodes:
