Moonchild; Max 5 songs?? Where do you get this bogus info from?

      Correct me if i'm wrong, but none of these songs have been released before;

Stalemate (Alt Version)or actually two different alt. versions of Stalemate

      When The World Sleeps

      Black W'abbit

      The Matter With her

      Like Always (Pidah Version)

      Never Judge

In The Midst of it all

      Silver Tongue

      Dave Gave Up

      That dying breed

      A Shortcut to the stars

      Aa Luna

      Fyra Kveller session

      Jazz på Trøndska

demos or not, that's 14 songs. Plus the Pidah mix, Plus the notes, and the fact that you get the rest of these songs packed into one disc, instead of various ep's and/or mp3/flac ripps.

Don't take this the wrong way, but you're full of shit on this one ;)

Actually, La Luna and A shortcut to the stars have been released elsewhere and Jazz på trøndska is the hidden bonus track from the cd version of Blissard (although I can't remember that piano). On the other hand, what's with the B-side version of Drug thing? I can't tell from the short snippet if it's a whole different take, but the vocals are definitely different (and not too great!). Flick of the wrist is also an unreleased version AFAIK. Hey, did anyone recognise that VERY familiar guitar riff coming in towards the end of the Never judge snippet yet? :D

The B-side version of Drug Thing sounds very much like a demo (the sound quality is a bit inferior) And yeah, I recognised that Never Judge riff

The thing that surprised me the most is the Pidah version of The Nerve Tattoo. I'm not going to spoil too much, but it seems like they re-recorded that one almost from scratch in Oslo.

And that whole When The World Sleeps album… With the exception of Mad Sun which is uptempo and catchy, those other songs seem really slow, dark and atmospheric. Even the version of Flick sounds slower than the original. I have to admit MP did the right thing not releasing this as the Timothy sequel (and with the exception of the Black W'abbit cover, those are all Sæther originals)

Regarding the singel version of Nerve Tattoo, the record company (Sony) wanted them to make a single edit of that song for the single, so they added a gong instead :P

Hey, I agree w alot you're saying, and when I see the picture Kjellepelle added my saliva started running..!

AND – I must not have caught that it goes for 25€s, a good deal for sure.

And Supernaut – Of course you can have some sort of demands as a fan, if only as in how you think things should be done, though maybe "demand" is the wrong word, maybe a wish is a better term and a forum like this should and is open to vent these opinions. But I totally agree, its always up to the band, and MP have done so much right up to now so who am I to criticise. But, as for the big box, I didnt mean a necrophiliac studio jam take 6 scrap collection, I pictured it as a definitive 'nuff said box of different eras. Lets say all the stuff from TM, Blissard, AADAP and TU compiled into one box w some demos etc. But this is just me. And I probably shouldn't be complaining. But maybe because I so much enjoyed the N Young box and how it allowed eccentricities and live takes to flesh out the complete picture, in and in-between records, a definite chapter journey, I thought "Nice!" But hey, I'll prob get the Blissard box anyway, and I'll like it, and it will def be so much better than 10, or 4, or THREE! beers (OH, Norway – weird economy  !) (And btw – to be clear, I'm not so much into buying everything they produce at any price, Ive never indulged in buying stuff second hand for high prices and I guess thats exactly why I was writing this: I want the nuggets, but I dont really want them spread over ten, or four repackaged records. And yes, the CotF haters, wtf? And – I want the economy to go to the band and not to some weird mint condition collector/bootlegger/hoarder or label).

Anyway, Blissard or the whole MP output from 1993-99 is such a big part of my youth and I've been fading in and out after that until the recent years so I guess its of purely egoistic reasons that I want a big fat juicy box of nice oddities to fill out the soundtrack of my youth. (A sidenote – I remember buying the Hey Jane EP, my all time B-sides favourite, any band, and I seem to remember the liner notes saying that these songs were only a small collection of a bigger whole, so my wishes for When The World Sleeps have prob been a bit over the top, and even though a slo-mo Flick of the Wrist is pretty nice I had a naive dream of diamonds, but of course, a diamond would have been released ages ago, even how rough it is :( )

And, of course, as they have now chosen to release this as a two+++ box set series, what can you say other than Thank You. Though – STILL – I must say, I think a big box would have worked better in a narrative way; awkward 4-track demos and corny live takes could be included and glued into the whole picture in a way I feel that they're now excluded. This is a general Delux Edition issue imo. But Im pretty sure MP have thought this through and figured that this is the best way for them. Though I pictured a lo-fi RW cum definitive rarities collection, BUT OH!, I'm dreaming again. Maybe these tracks dont exist and thats also perfectly fine.

And again – wishes and dreams

@GBD – I might VERY well be full of shit

Though, this stuff – music – and MP – is Important and worth some discussion :smoke:

I got it today aswell. Listened through the new stuff on the 4th CD and some from the "When The World Sleeps" -tunes. Accompanied by a cold beer. Some weird stuff i´m not sure if i like yet, some stuff that i don´t understand why they never released, and some stuff that sounds pretty awesome from a "first listen" point of view, but deserves a better mix. (sounds like demoes).

Love the finish and the cool fan-stuff inside.

The 3 "reviews/stories" were amazing, and gave the whole album 10 times more meaning. And really explained the 3 other CD´s really good as well! (I was 4 years when Blissard was released, so I really didnt remember much from that time ;)

                        Summary: GREAT box!

                          POTENTIAL SPOILERS AHEAD!

Yeah, I think this box is great, too (better than the Timmy box, in fact)

But there is one point of controversy that bugs me. And that is regarding Flick Of The Wrist. The KiT version was originally instrumental because the multitrack recording equipment didn't have space for a vocal track. But Bent & Snah did overdub vocals. 3 MONTHS AGO! Why the hell they'd want to overdub vocals to an 18 year old instrumental is beyond me. Borderline cheating, IMHO. Opinions, anyone?

Other than that issue, the box is GREAT! When The World Sleeps is that great lost MP album, esspecially Black W'abbit with Bent's fantastic "as-if-my-life-depended-on-it" vocal delivery. The whole session has that slow, dark & atmospheric post-rock vibe to it.

The Blissard outtakes are cool. I actually prefer all of them to Fools Gold & Nathan Daniels, so I think they made a tiny mistake leaving 'em out (even if they had valid reasons for doing so) But the decision to overdub/remix in Oslo was a wise one, because most of the original mixes lack punch & meaty guitars.

CD4 is also neat. Nice having all those EP B-sides in one place. The 4-piece rehearsals are really interesting because you get a valuable glimpse into how MP structure and present stuff in rehearsals. The early Oslo studio version of Drug Thing is cool, although it structurally isn't quite there yet. And the Atlantis Psychosis Files are plain fun; hearing MP emulating a free-jazz band on those two last tracks is quite hilarious  Jazz still smells funny, I guess.

Just waiting for the book to hit my postbox, then there will be a combined Blissard literary/audio experience :D

what? they overdubbed a 18 years old track? what the fuck? why?
