…or they simply love us :)

Nice discussion guys! I’m looking forward to buying the LP even though I don’t own a record player. I think this might be the moment in life I’ll actually buy one. I’ve always thought about getting one and now I’ve got the perfect opportunity. They’re probably pretty cheap of Ebay or Finn.

      cheers

      @psychonaut

lol, you don’t see the duality, between

      Quote:
there’s no religious mindless following here

      and

      Quote:
if I hadn’t a record player and if it was the only way I could ever listen to a new record by my beloved band, why the heck should I NOT get me a record player???

      do you?

and even accusing me for making a fuss, as if that was a bad thing, is worth a

      Quote:
Calling those who’d happily buy one a bunch of mindless sheep? Weird.

      yes, weird indeed.

You know, you don’t have to defend the band every inch of the way, and if you don’t see the point in, or why anyone is asking any questions about this, I think I can do worse than “mindless sheep” (given a little time with my notebook and plenty of coffee).

But yes, GBD, I see your points, hopefully you’re right about the cd release.

My dear stalemate, this is only the internet. A discussion here is due to fail for misunderstanding by its very nature. :)

I don’t see the duality there because there is none. And I wrote this all very consciously. I am not defending the band. This is where you start out wrong. I spelled out 2 main points:

        1) It’s not the artist’s concern how people want to play their music.

        2) Why the heck I should NOT buy a record player to listen to their new and probably great album which is only released on a medium I can’t listen to otherwise? What’s mindlessley religious about this, as you put it? Am I more of a thinker when I whine and bitch about it on the internet? I’m talking about having FUN. A positive attitude. Get me that bloody vinyl player, buy me the album and ENJOY it. If that’s religion, oh Lord please count me in.

        #11804

        Supernaut.

1: If the artist does not want to have a part time at a supermarket, the artist IS concerned, that’s only logical, no shame in being commercial. And if it really is of no concern, why isn’t it released on a cd?

2: You seem to emphasize the the untouchability of the artists integrity quite heavily to begin with, the artist showing no compromize and blabla bla, while on the other hand you let the artist chase you to the hi-fi store? Why should I let that happen, when every single other album has been a cd release? (cue: Lucid, which reminds me that the space between songs on Demon Box varies on the LP release, hence the CD, with its excatly identical spaces, isn’t a complete edition, go for it L ! :D)- but as I mentioned in one of the early postings: Motorpsycho should be uncompromising in their Music, and not in form, not that I don’t think they shouldn’t be allowed to release the occasional collectible edition or whatever.

Calling it a “religion” is, in retrospective a big mistake, which ruins the discussion, since “everyone” is caught up in it. Calling some “mindless sheep”, although I know it’s true, wasn’t my smartest move, but calling my questions and opinions “whining and bitching” isn’t too constructive either.

you should NOT have to buy a LP player, because the band SHOULD respect their fans enough to release this as on a CD as well. That’s my opinion, and Jahve help me if God Bent strikes down on me with great vengeance and furious anger for it.

Nobody is forcing you to buy anything Stalem8. You seem to cram this point into all your posts, as if listening/ripping that album would be the hardest thing you would ever do. Instead of falsly accusing MP for forcing you into buying a player, i think you should use your creativity to find another solution. And i think you’ll find it alot easier then you portray in here…

And once again….don’t…i mean it ….DON’T come telling me it can’t be done….! I live in a small town (Bodø), and it’s like a stroll in the park to get ones hands on a RP here. So you, sitting there in Trondheim, should have less then no problems getting ur hands on one.

          #11806

yea, I know I have to repeat myself a lot in this discussion – but being unemployed gives you quite a lot of time to kill, so you’ll have to excuse me.

It’s not that I don’t know about the alternatives, but I react mainly based on the principle of it.

I’d like to ask, IF COTF was released on 8track, how many of you guys would have run to the 8track store to get a player?

Now, given that I’d like extremely much to get the record, legally, with good consciousness, a cover and inlay, and with “perfect” sound quality – which is actually all I want out of this, am I not forced to get a RP? (And boasting the “bo-ho, sucks to be stalemate and having his principles and empty bankaccount” will not do much good by the way)

I am aware that the RP’s isn’t hard to come by, I know that there’s this chance that this might be possible to steal via piratebay, but none of these ways to get the music actually serves my mentioned desires.

Besides that, I’m deported to Oslo, so mind you, I’m not in the best of moods at the moment

Anyhow, I’ve settled for the “agree to disagree”-attitude in this discussion, we’ve hit the repeat-button quite heavily all of us I guess, and that is what we might call a…. stalemate – whoa! cosmical!

is cotf released yet? where can i buy it from?

          #11808

yeap, it’s released binary on the inside wrapper of est. every 17th packet of hubba bubba gum, if you dont’ have the money to buy 200’000 packs of hubba bubba, and the time to plot in the 0s and 1s however, it’s tough luck indeed, but bear in mind, Geb was a great fan of Hubba Bubba, and it’s their aniversary, so you’re gonna have to live with it.

          (a little bitter)

EDIT – sorry Erik, nothing personal. The record is shipped ca 27.june from germany, so I guess approx. 1th of july -> sometime it will be available. As a LP only, mind you.

You’re getting too global here. It only concerns this one release, obviously nothing more or less than a special celebration of vinyl from and for freakish vinyl lovers. I can imagine all their CD releases so far have been market compromises for them. I think I repeat myself when hinting at the band’s generally uncompromised behaviour so far, what everyone seemed to enjoy, as long as they can get their hands on stuff. Not very uncompromising on the fan’s part, I’d say… but this is probably me defending the band again. Which it isn’t. I’m only trying to talk the – gasp! – big picture.

              Absolutely.

No. That would be mixing things up that don’t relate to each other at all.

I got me the hardware thingies to play all the music I like in whatever form. There’s no attitude, they’re just “things”, I don’t even know how to discuss this…

I cherish nice vinyl packages – who doesn’t? – but a record player is just a tool I bought one day. Like fridge, pans and a TV. No chasing I remember.

I’ll never get you there. It’s only this one bloody album…

Nah, some flashy words are ok. We’ve never really had any discussion on this board. Everyone’s been peachy with everyone and everything. Nobody hardly wrote anything more provocative than weeeeelll I don’t think I reeeeeally like Lobotomizer that much.

I dunno, I just can’t imagine going to the band and demand more respect from them by giving me their music on CD dammit who do you think you are!? Beyond me again, especially regarding their “career moves” so far. I’m feeling quite respected as a fan when I get a spectacular edition of their new album, when I pay not even half as much as for other bands for a 3 hours live set, when aftershows I can walk up to them and chat for a little in a human friendly manner, and blahblah whatnot…

              uh oh I’m defending again.

well, just face it. There is going to be a vinyl only release and that seems to be it wether one likes it or not. I happen to like it, and am looking forward to the release very much. But i have no problem with the discussion, it’s very amusing. :MPD:
