@Crackpot: Thanks, finally got it on my computer! That was really fun to do. btw: We start around 19 mins. 45 secs.

@Fillmore: The Machine is a great band, and a nice bunch of guys to boot! I saw David's guitar after they got back home after that gig. He's probably still repairing the damage done by his excessive transpiration that afternoon!

It was just me trying to be funny…

Incense was heavily influenced by Motorpsycho and obviously so are you!

uh this is more than just influenced, this is almost copying Motorpsycho. I consider myself being influenced by them but also by common influences like sonic youth, crimson, sabbath etc… and also kinda by the notion of trying to melt them all, thinking beyond stilistic boundaries.

But of course Incense are obviously good, nonetheless. :)

Hmm interesting, I just had a discussion with a friend about this copy-motorpsycho thing some weeks ago. In my opinion, this two bands above are both just influenced by Motorpsycho (from what I just heared, not being so much yet). But taking it so far as calling it copying?

And if so still, what would be wrong with it? Everybody copies their fav bands in some (maybe subconscience) way, right? For me a band playing songs that would sound like MP, would be much better than to play covers for instance.

We started that discussion after he heared an idea of mine, which you can hear here:http://www.myspace.com/theshanghaihypetest Song 'Golden Cage' is an acoustic idea I had. Never mind the lyrics (there not even lyrics). Tell me what you think about the level of copying MP, before I explain myself. I'm curious :)

I'd say it's copied. First few seconds made me think of Frances and from the mandolin solo part on there's an obvious MP aesthetic. And the riff that pops up sometimes and ends the song, too.

But hey for me there's nothing wrong with that. It's just very obvious. Oh and it reminds of a discussion we had here years ago about how some people thought how despicable Led Zeppelin were for ripping off old blues artists. Hmmmm…..

Oh hell why not. Not in the least MP-sounding acoustic pop/rock in swedish recorded at home by myself: http://www.soundcloud.com/joachimdahlberg, http://www.facebook.com/joachimdahlbergmusik.

Big, huge fan of Motorpsycho but in this soloproject I guess it don't show much. More infuenced by writers this time. Well, well… It's a creative outlet.

Overall high quality writing, performing and singing. Giving Kashmir a run for their money.

But the production… too much compression? It's my taste of course, but bassdrum and snare are too much upfront for my liking. And sound heavily compressed and (in case of snare) flat. Cymbals and hi-hat sound nearly distorted in Tarred and Feathered at 2'30" Don't want to be negative, it's just stuff I'm fighting with myself when mixing. Beware that Multimaximizer software! But the songs are great. Like them.

Thank you for the feedback! I've handled the production myself, in addition to most of the songwriting and singing. I'm far from a pro when it comes to the production bit, and this is my first stab at tweaking live drums (I've only done drum programming until now) It's DIY and learning by doing, I suppose. I certainly agree that there is room for improvement. I haven't compressed the drums by intention, however I think that mic placement and the quality of the set has played a part. But thank you for kind words and constructive criticism. I will certainly keep your words in mind during future recording sessions.
