Sounds good to me, although more is always better. I hope they include Heartattack Mac, All is Loneliness & Cornucopia.

I don't understand why they don't have the guts to pull off a 2CD live abum which would be much more appropriate. Yes, they say less is more but still I don't get it. What could be the idiosyncratic artistic considerations behind that decision?

          #18922

I agree with you, fillmore. A double cd would do justice to the entire scope of a Motorpsycho-concert. But that would mean at least triple-vinyl. Are they considering our wallets, maybe? I wouldn't mind a deluxe Timmy-style cd-box, but I think they just can't forgo a vinyl-release for any "new" album.

Well regardless of any other yearly release, they could put out a double vinyl Roadwork entry twice a year. Just keep them flowing. There's enough material and way enough buyer's interest. That would be so great. And unique. And a Guinness Book entry on top.

            #18924

Yeah, supernaut, they could certainly do that, and it would be great. But I think I would rather have a 2cd/4lp Roadwork as opposed to two seperate ones. It has to do with the continuity of a show. 80 minutes is a long concert for a lot of bands, but MP is only halfway by then, as you know. So what I would like is a representation of the ebb and flow of a live-show. Don't get me wrong, any live-album is fine by me, but a 1cd/2lp comes down to a compilation of great live moments, rather than conveying the feeling of being taken over by those guys for 2,5 hours!

I think what I really want to say is: I want MORE! :MPD:

Well, you never know who the material we experienced live appears on tape eg. harddisk, so let's not complain in advance but wait until more details are out… No doubt though that psychonauts like it "the more the better" :-)

Also, this might most likely not be the final "Kenneth era" RW (*knocking on wood*)

                #18927

                @Chien: thanks!

@Tomcat: You're right, we shouldn't judge the album based on a couple of rumours. But I must say: Who's complaining? Like I said: "Don't get me wrong, any live-album is fine by me…" Heck, they could bring out a 7" with a live version of "Feel" and I would still buy it without a single complaint!

yeah continuity sure, but this RW4 will be – as I understand – a compilation of various shows anyway. And generally bah, I dunno, I don't really care if it's all a one show source or not. Would one really notice if not informed by the liner notes?

But then yes, 4LP/2CD would represent the length and massiveness of one show to the listener, be it compiled or not. Then again after a few years you'd be at RW vol 12 and what the heck, it's all one big psychobubble.

                  the more, the better. :)

Excuse me if I wasn't clear about this. I did not mean to say I would have liked one complete concert from one location, quite the contrary. I just meant a compilation of various songs from various sources chosen and segued by the band in such a way as to represent the massive scope of a typical (if there is such a thing) Motorpsycho-concert; for which, in my view, we would need 2 cd's and 4 lp's.

After all these years what the hell should be new about MP's roadwork poltics ? To me every single roadwork release was a very big disappointment . Come on guys . They are one of the finest Live Bands around and they never released something really outstanding . And don't get me wrong , I do like RW1+3 , but when it comes to the point to listen to MP Live I choose one of the non-official recordings around , even if the sound is lousy it gets you into the liveexperiencefeeling that can never come close to eyewitnessing a MP show but is by far better than listening to one of those castrated RWs .

I agree with starmelt99 here. As much as I like the Roadwork albums, most of the time I find myself listening to non-official recordings when I want to hear live material. In fact, according last.fm one of my favorite MP tunes is a song called "Encore break" 8)

Well, I agree, to a certain degree. I also listen more to unofficial liverecordings. But that's mainly because there are more of them than Roadworks, I guess. And I don't think the RW's are "castrated".

The Roadworks are live ALBUMS as opposed to various unofficial recordings of shows.

When I wanna listen to a Motorpsycho-show, I put on a recording of a Motorpsycho-show (or go see them live if they are in the neighbourhood).

If on the other hand I wanna listen to a great live-album, I put on Roadworks 1 or 2.

My point being: They are two different things.

Btw. Rob, "encore break" rocks. Seen a lot of bands play it, don't know who wrote it. Trad. arr., probably..
