I agree with supernaut, I’d like more songs, I’ve missed them on the last records. A mixture of sonic explorations and songs would be nice – and COTF didn’t really do it for me, sadly, even thought it attempted that to some extent.

Also I have to disagree with the general genres attributed to the “eras”, although the overall idea seems about right. It feels like that, although I see it slightly different. Early 1989–1992, High time 1993–1998, ‘Pop’ phase 1999–2002, Limbo & regeneration 2003–2006 and Kenneth/Jam era 2007–now.

I completely agree with the two previous posts.

Well guys- luckily they have never cared about what fans or others think, wish or want them to do,they just do their own thing.

YOU GOTTA HANG ON TO THE TRIP THAT YOU’RE ON…

        Hello all,

In no way was I trying to say that my view on this is correct or something, it’s just my view of their work. JTR’s division makes more sense to me, by the way.

What the next phase will be? I have no clue, and I don’t want to really. One of the main reasons I love this band so much is that element of suprise. I wouldn’t want them to concede to any tastes, ideas or theories except their own.

For me: I just hope they keep going deeper into the territory they are exploring now and please PLEASE leave the pop-thing well in the past. I mean, I love their vocal harmonies and the other stuff they kept from that phase, but I couldn’t stomach another “This Otherness”. Again, in my opinion and with tongue firmly in cheek.

        Greetings,

        Thomas

Actually I wouldn’t be surprised if there will be some jazzy loungy stuff like “This Otherness”, a song I really like btw, considering some of these elements are on HMF. At least in spirit. And I like COTF a lot! Ah well what do I not like anyway…. oh some stuff on LTEC/Phano never did it for me. Especially lenghty live jams over Walking with J and Song for a Bro’. There our relationship shimmied close to a risky edge.

For me its mostly the other way around. I loved everything from the ‘pop’ phase but I am dissatisfied with the recent recordings. The concert I attended in 2008 was grand however, but I miss the short-format songs. But then again, BHBC had a truckload of them ;)
