a 42minute piece for ballet inspired by paintings, alchemy and the tarot
funny thing is, that doesn't even really surprise anymore.so it's one LP with a biggie and one with short songs? brilliant

I guess the long piece is the collaboration with Kvernberg and Horntveth, written for the Gullvag celebration. I've been wondering what would happen to that.

I've had enough of the artwork in this series, I liked the days of Kim's artwork....

I expect this to be the final piece of "this series", but who knows. Wonderful news anyway - didn't count on a release before autumn 😎

Best news all year!

Good news!
@Aki:I have to agree with that. I have a much closer personal connection to the Hiorthøy approach. With the last couple of releases, they put their toes into that deep sea of prog rock cover art, but they really went full cannonball with this one
Edit: I like things to change and develop, but the original MP font is the only MP font

Or maybe side A and D short songs, long piece side B and C for all those with two record players to be able to play it as one piece

Do you mean Maiden Voyage or Lobotomizer?

@Mefisto: I knew this would happen the moment I clicked on "send"
The big bang of my psychoverse was in 2002 and I worked my way through it backwards, but i never really made it beyond the "Timothy's Monster" frontier. Technically, you're right of course.

Friends, I am glad we have something substantial to discuss again on this forum! Now if we could only have live concerts like we used to...............(craving, craving)
Good to read everybody back in town!Posted 7 months ago # -
The cover painting is a scene from Dahls brewery. Brewing of the STG beer.

Always psyched by the announcement of a new MP album. All in to hear it spinning to great heights. \m/ Hope to see live music come back to live again. Streaming doesn't come close.

Second that! Saving this year, will be quite a challenge, but of course it will help a lot.
As for the 2CD/2LP decision, i am really looking forward to the flow of the album. Having a suite/ epic tracks on an "extra" record, will probably make it easier for me to really appreciate the more challenging stuff and still have a concise more straight-forward "go to on a daily basis" album.

For those interested in getting a taste of the 'ballet', if you haven't seen them already, there's a few videos available on YouTube (one of them copied onto Motorpsychodelicclips) that were recorded at one of last summer's festival appearances at which the piece was played.
[SPOILER ALERT]
Do not watch these videos if you prefer not to hear possible material from the 'ballet' before getting the album.Posted 6 months ago # -

All right, a couple of songs that come to mind just from the track list:
Terry Callier, who wrote "Spin, Spin, Spin" that MP covered via HP Lovecraft, also wrote one called "You Goin' Miss Your Candyman". The lyric "Like a circle around the sun" is repeated a lot: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HY2VfzBWKXM
Also, Roy Harper, "The Same Old Rock" (1971):

Roy Harper, a name that's always floated around a nucleus of bands I love but I never really took the effort to listen to him. But this song is amazing. I just heard traces of Thick as a Brick and one particular vocal melody strongly resembles a song by danish band Kashmir. I guess he's had some impact on the best of them. So here's to some new homework.

Roy Harper also sang on Pink Floyd's Have A Sigar.
The Ascension is an album and song by Glenn Branca.
Ouroboros is also a Mars Volta song.
I wonder how the vinyl sides will be split. Like this?
