Hey all. I just put together a stat of which Songs I saw them play in concert, how often, and so on.

I know there are the crazy folks here who saw them several hundred times ^^. Is there maybe somone araound who saw already every Song of them played live? What are the Songs you saw most and which are the Songs you want them to play real badly?

    My stats:

    Concerts visited: 15

    Locations:
    Burg Herzberg Festival x 3, Beatpol, Dresden x 4, Conne Island, Leipzig x 5, Lido, Berlin x1, Astra, Berlin x 1, Columbiatheater, Berlin x 1

    Different songs played: 123

    Song played most often: Feel

    Song anticipated most: Radiance Freq

    Specials:
Spitting Incident at Conne Island during 'The Golden Core' in 2010
Extreme Heat at Conne Island in 2014
Last Concert of Kenneth Kapstad at Beatpol, Dresden in 2016

Any more suggestions for Categories? I am very curious

At my first Spidergawd Concert i had also the pleasure talking to Bent when they had a Pizza right in front of the 50 People Venue after the Concert. What a day!

@dongonz It seems we have seen each other some times

    Concerts visited: 15 (2008-2022)

    Locations:
Beatpol, Dresden x5; Conne Island, Leipzig x4; Festsaal Kreuzberg, Berlin x2; Faust, Hannover 1x; Schlachthof, Bremen 1x; Schlachthof, Wiesbaden 1x; Gloria, Köln 1x

    Songs heard: 228

Different songs played: about 90? 121

Song played most often: no idea Greener 7x, Cruicible 7x

Song anticipated most: All is loneliness

    Specials:
2008 Beatpol, Dresden - my very first one, I had no idea who they are, I just read an ad in the city news and thought "Motorpsycho" sounds like "Motörhead" might be not too bad. They needed about 15 Minutes to catch me

2012 Conne Island, Leipzig - The Death Defying Unicorn my second one. Unbelievably loud, unbelievably good and "Burn" as an encore. From that point on, they had me forever.

    Concerts visited: 31 (i think); 2000-2019

    Locations:
    Netherlands, Belgium, Norway, Spain

    Different songs played: Many

Song played most often: You Lied? Hogwash? Serpentine? Upstairs Downstairs?

Song anticipated most: K9; this piece has retained all its magic since the first time I witnessed it live.

    Specials; in chronological order:

Jam > K9 part 1> K9 jam > Upstairs Downstairs opener for my first show

K9 at Trondheim fall 2006; the one time I was left not only speechless, but unable to speak.

Glow > jam > Hogwash at Eindhoven 2008; the jam in that segue was out of this world

All is Loneliness closer at Rotterdam, 2008 with a dead silent audience holding their collective breaths until Bent's vocals had been reduced to an acapella whisper to close the song

Enjoying the show sitting on a bar stool with my feet on stage and Bent's bass towering almost directly above me in a small basement at Barcelona, 2011

Song played most often: The Other Fool (18 times), not my favourite one, though

Song anticipated most: Radiance Freq (the first ever song I have heard live and it caught me immediately), Un Chien D'Espace, Flick Of The Wrist (please play it again)

    Specials: too many to mention:

like meeting Anders and Oystein in Norway 2000 on concerts, being for the first time in Rockefeller Oslo or in Conne Island Leipzig or Beatpol Dresden - Faust in Hannover and Forum Bielefeld and Folken Stavanger are impressive venues, too

    (almost forgotten) but great venues:
Leer Zollhaus (is there still going on anything?)
    Berlin Kesselhaus
Oldenburg Kulturetage (please play there again)

    Concerts visited: 18 (1996-2022).
Longest gap between shows: 7 years (2002-10-29 to 2009-10-29)

Locations: Six different cities in Sweden (incl five different venues in Stockholm), Oslo (twice), Utrecht, Copenhagen (thrice) and Berlin.

Most "obscure": Strömsborg in Vänersborg, Sweden, 1997-11-02 (opening for Fireside), and Herrgår'n in Linköping, Sweden, 1998-03-26.

Most songs at a show: 18 (Pumpehuset in Copenhagen, Denmark, 2014-06-11).
Least songs at a show: 6 (Raj Harder indoors festival in Köping, Sweden, 1997-11-01).

    Different songs experienced: 126.

Song experienced most often: "STG" (9 times), and luckily it's a great one

Song anticipated most: "The wheel", which I still haven't experienced live

    Specials:
-A couple of "Un chien d'espace" performances before the jams became ridiculously extended I know a lot of people love it more the longer it gets. One of my favorite songs but I don't think it benefits from exceeding 18 minutes - those improvisations don't match the mood of the lyrics or the feel of the basic song, according to me.
-"Painting the night unreal" - a huge favorite of mine - once (Debaser Slussen, Stockholm, 2002-10-29).
-Two nights in a row this year (Malmö and Copenhagen) with only one (1) overlapping song. Total worship!

    Specials:
    - Seeing them in the high north of Norway (Tromso) and interviewing them just before the show (interview was agreed on the day before, while I requested it 3 or 4 weeks earlier, hadn't heard anything from them or the management in-between, so the preparation was quite stressy)
    - The entire Botanique (Brussels) concert in 2017 (Un chien d'espace! The wheel! A pacific sonata! Here be monsters! Ship of fools! Vortex surfer! And a couple more...)
    - Feedtime - Utrecht 2017
    - Not having any memory of the Krach am Bach show in 2017 (was I there?)
    - Seeing my girlfriend being in a total trance and state of 'disbelief' at the Nijmegen show in 2018 (her first MP gig)
    - Driving 1000 km for the (free!) 2 Days Prog + 1 festival where they played in 2017
    - A crowd of around 40 people in Arlon this week, the smallest audience I've ever experienced at a MP show

@Juergen I can't seem to find it online anymore, but I just found it in my own mailbox (the advantages of sending stuff to yourself, just in case...). So that was almost 9 years ago, I'd discovered MP a few months earlier and I had (next to) no experience with interviews or journalism (and almost no time to prepare), so bear with me... Also not in my mother tongue...

It was an interview for the student magazine of Universitetet i Tromso, called Utropia. I think the Word version I have is about 95% of what eventually appeared in the magazine.

I also wrote a 'review' of their 2013 Driv gig, but can't seem to find it anywhere, not online, not in my mailbox...

Where can I send the interview to?

Great thread! Love reading the specials. But how do you guys count the individual songs seen? Is there a tool or clever way to do it other than manually? Is this something I can do with the help of the database?

I actually gathered the concerts from https://mpdb.space/ and entered the songs in a table and counted them together. Took as long as "Little Lucid Moments"

    Concerts visited: 78 between 1996-2022

Locations: many in Germany, Denmark, Netherlands, Belgium, Luxemburg, Norway, most notorious city hometown Berlin (17x), most notorious venues Conne Island Leipzig (5x) and Schlachthof Bremen (5x)

    Different songs played: many

Song played most often: most likely Hogwash (23), Superstooge (21), The Other Fool (19), STG (18), but that is just a superficial count based on my own textfile with setlist from my shows

    Song anticipated most: K9, always

    Specials:

    > Berlin 1996: My first one. Only went there because the preview in the city mag sounded interesting.
    Hooked!!!

    > Dresden 1999: The first one I traveled to. My first K9 encore, close to 45 min. Point of no return.

    > Hamburg 2000: The first one where I knew the entire catalogue, every song and the first one I taped.

    > Leipzig / Berlin 2000: Getting hooked on travelling to see MP, making friends...

    > Bielefeld 2001: Listening to the soundcheck where they kinda did The Who's "Live at Leeds"

    > Oslo 2003: Tussler tour of Oslo, 4 shows in 4 days in 4 venues

    > Rostock 2006: Intimate show with super setlist. Met my soon-to-be girl-friend, a fellow traveling MP fan, on the trip to this show from the previous one in Copenhagen. We are still together today

    > Berlin 2008: The first MP show after a while, my first one with Kenneth, an explosion of energy!

    > Leipzig 2010: The one with the 21 minute "Arne H" on Roadworks IV

    > Bielefeld 2015: I remember the band as extraordinarily telepathic and dialed in. A rare trio show!

    > München / Dresden 2022: The biggest difference between two consecutive shows I have yet witnessed.

    Besuchte Konzerte : Ca. 12

    Wo ? :

    Amsterdam 1 X
    Nijmegen 1 mal
    Köln 4 X
    Bielefeld 1 X
    Düsseldorf 5 X

Am häufigsten gespielt : Year Zero...

Concerts visited : 37 between 1999 - 2022. If we count unofficial concerts, collaborations, solo stuff, then it's somewhere between 50-60 concerts...

Locations : With a few exceptions, all concerts in the Oslo area. I did see a few Tønsberg gigs tho (Total 2013 + the Demon Box gig in 2015). Plus one concert in Trondheim (Begynnelser play in 2017, if it counts )

Different songs played : 194 unique, 538 total.

Songs played most often : Walking On The Water + The Other Fool + Neverland + Feel (9)

Song anticipated most : TGC and Un Chien. Two of their finest songs, for different reasons. But in general I like to be surprised.

    Specials :

My first gig, October 16th 1999, all-ages matinee show @ Rockefeller Oslo. They open with a jammy, playful version of In Memory of Elisabeth Reed. Quite the statement! The rest of the show was a nice mix of new and old, including a preview of The Other Fool released the year after. After this there was no turning back, psychonaut for life...

Other than that, the 3 best gigs I ever attended is probably:

    Rockefeller 26-04-2002
    Øyafestivalen 14-08-2010 (Timothy's Monster gig)
    Blitz 24-11-2022

And may there be more great gigs to comm!

For those who have seen many gigs and heard many different songs: You don't have to count the concerts and songs manually. We have a database:

    https://mpdb.space

You need to register with a name. Then you can click on every show which you saw on the "I was not there" button. It changes to "I was there" after you have clicked it.

We have a "my gigs" section. It counts the number of shows and the number of different songs (called "unique" songs) and the total number of songs for you.

The database even counted 183 songs for me, I counted manually less.

I was able to verify some 30+ shows, although I'm sure there are quite a few missing. Which is entirely possible since my memories from the time between 2000 and 2010 are... well, a bit blurred. So this is confirmed but not complete:

    Shows: 33

Locations: Bremen, Hamburg, Hannover, Bielefeld, Berlin (all multiple times) plus Cologne, Kiel, Oldenburg, Muenster and Deventer (once each)

    Different songs played: 171

Songs played most often: Walking on the water (13x), Vortexsurfer (11x)

Songs anticipated most (but never seen): Radiance freq

    Specials:
    - my very first show at Hurricane `99 where they basically played the entire Roadworks I plus one or two others. Completely blew me away.
    - when they opened a show in Hamburg 2002 with The Giftland. The strange sounds/noise from the beginning of the song were played on loop in the venue for an half-hour or so before they entered the stage. Sooner or later, people started recogizing it and realizing what it meant. Big grins everywhere.
    - Feedtime 2016
    - the 2017 Schlachthof gig that began with Un chien and closed with The Golden Core. Absolutely out of this world.
    - each rendition of The Wheel (4x) and The Golden core (3x) I was allowed to witness

    My stats:
    Concerts visited: 31 since 2006
Locations: 23 x Oslo (Rockefeller, Sentrum Scene, Domkirken, Operaen, Teknisk Museum, Øyafestivalen, Røverstaden, Blitz), various other norwegian cities including a few times in Trondheim.

Different songs played: 173 unique, 431 total
Song played most often: KDH, Walking on the Water, No Evil, Sail On and STG
Song anticipated most: Tough call, but probably K9. These days though, anything pre 2012 would be very welcome..

    Specials:
    - The first times seeing the band in 2006. Four times that year. The Øya gig I have fond memories of.
    - The time an icelandic volcano stopped me from seeing the band in Bergen. Received news of the cancellation on the train halfway between Oslo and Bergen. So I went to Bergen anyway.
    - Timothys Monster at Øya 2010.
    - Blitz, standing in front of Bents rack. That sound..
    - Proto-‘Here Be Monsters’ at Teknisk Museum.
    - Sentrum Scene 2019. Absolutely incredible, crystal clear sound in the venue. Especially after seeing them in Hamar the day before where the sound was a woolly wall of noise.

Being norwegian, I have seen my fair share of one-off gigs and rarities, but I am envious of you guys living in Europe proper. Following the band around for a few weeks is a long standing dream of mine, but it cannot be done in Norway. Too few gigs. Every year I half assedly plan doing it next year, but life always finds a way to rockblock me.

    Concerts visited : 14 between 2010 and 2022.

Locations : Köln/Cologne (3x Gloria, 3x Bürgerhaus Stollwerck), 3x Düsseldorf Zakk, 2x Burg Herzberg Festival, 2x Krach am Bach Festival, Bielefeld Forum

Different songs played : 110 unique, 203 total.

Songs played most often : Starhammer, Year Zero (6x), Fools Gold, Sail On, Serpentine, The Tower (5x)

Song anticipated most : The Wheel, N.O.X.

    Specials :
    - First gig, Gloria in Köln, what a special night to experience the full wall of sound 2 metres from center stage with that maniac drummer expected every moment to jump over his set!
    - An even better trance-like experience in 2011 Zakk with Überwagner.
    - The storm gig at Zakk in 2014: The hall was so steaming hot at first, the band played an acoustic set we enjoyed a lot. Then suddenly the air cooled down by 10 to 15°C when that mean thunderstorm rushed over the west of Germany which we only realized afterwards outside. The boys played louder than every storm! What a slalom to get out of Düsseldorf and finally home.
    - They lost me a bit in 2016 an 2017: Last gig with Kenneth which felt strangely unsatisfying (hints of things to come?), the 2017 gig in Stollwerck didn't click with me again though the recordings on Roadwork 5 are favourites now ...
    - And then being brave at the Herzberg gig in 2018 to stand in front row opposite a phalanx of subwoofers - until the Moog basses kicked in - oh boy, we watched the rest including the Wheel from a save distance.

    And hooked again since then!

190 shows since 1993 (Tussler not included).
Most played song: Walking on the water, 62 times!
Most anticipated song: President Block (of course!)
Specials: too many to mention, probably all the fabulous people I have met around Europe!
    Unique songs: 275
    Total songs: 2960

Song played most often: no idea but I feel it might be Heartattac Mac

Songs anticipated most: I'm always giddy for H-Mac, Taifun, STG, Alchemyst, Ship of Fools & TGC

Songs anticipated super most: The Wheel & NOX

Songs never heard live: The Wheel & NOX

    Specials:
    - going to see them in '95 in Köln for the first time, not recognizing them when they played until almost the end of the show due to mostly new/unreleased material and me being unaware of the line-up running order (4 bands).
    - opening for them twice in '97 and sucking at it. But at least there's been a loose connection backstage say hello chat thingy now and then ever since.
    - TDDU at the opera, no words
    - those 3 shows in 2018 within 4 days and almost walking distance in little switzerland
