Hi, I'm an Italian fan of MP since a long time...
I would ask to the "Forum", If anybody can put on Mp3 the Last MP record.
Only for true fans that buyed Child of the future on vinil (like me), but that want to hear this album also at the driving, on iPod....

I'm a true fan. I have all of Mp records originals.

But we are in 2009, and we have the tecnologies that make the Mp's music more available in a lot of way.

p.s. I'm waiting for a Velvet - Rimini data of tour in November

    p.p.s. Sorry for the english....

I'd also like to download this record and transfer it to my mp3 player. I have bought the record , and I've tried to make my own rip but I wasn't happy with the result, it wasn't loud enough. There may be ways to make it louder but I'm not an expert on this and I'd like to download a rip made by someone who really knows how to do this. Doing this will not make me feel guilty, since I, as I've said, have bought the record and there is no other ways to download it.

well, would be amazing if someone who was able to digitalze it could send me a link to the album. I got it on vinyl but I´d like to listen to it on the way from a to b.

Yeah, most definately. I'm going to Oslo tonight, and I'm going to buy the record there, but I don't have a recordplayer at the moment, so I can't listen to it. It would be great if someone digitalized it, and gave links to those who could prove they've bought it. I really want to hear this album, and it's killing me that I don't have the player to do so.

    cheers

I couldn't wait, so i bought myself a copy today. I would also like getting a digitalized version, and i can provide a picture of me holding my album. But sadly, i doubt that anyone will provide a mp3 version anyway, so i guess i'll just have to wait....Dang...so close!!

There really should have been a download code in the record! It's the way to to do it nowadays. But I guess Bent is just too stubborn

I think it's cool that they decided to do it this way. But right now, i'm having a bit of trouble swallowing it. And think....now i've got the album, i've got a record player. The only thing standing in the way of 40 minutes of bliss, is a fucking small/big jack plug! Dammit! So close!!!

AHHH GBD, i so much know how you're feeling.
Bought the record more or less by chance. I knew it would be released by friday, and i just had a quick look in the stores, not believing they would even have it. And while i was wondering wether the old record player i bought from a friend half a year ago would even work, i was walking out of there store with a LP, for the first time in my entire life. At home, i tried to set up the player, and realised that i didn't have the proper combination of jacks/plugs. With minor knowledge of any kind of hifi technology, i cut several older adapters, and crafted a new one, with the fitting combination of jacks/plugs. Continuing the set up of the record player, i realised it didn't do a shit, besides uttering some akward sounds. But that was the most easy part, i disassembled the player, and attached the v-belt properly, so at least the table was spinnging now.
So, i gave it a retry, nothing happend. LP was spinning, i even heard a very very muted sound from the needle, but my handicrafted adapter did not seem to work.

End of the story, i am right now sitting here, and the hollow eyes of the child of the future are staring at me, making me constantly google for a rapidshare release or something. So please guys, rip it! We could even make a picture posting thread of desperate psychonauts, with their beautiful, and yet so useless piece of cardboard/vinyl.

Mar: Well sorry to have to dissapoint you (again), but i just sat down by my computer after having my very first spin! Mind you, it was on a shitty stereo, with an even more shitty record player, and only ONE speaker mind you (Just my luck that the old stereo had a busted output!), But I'VE FINALLY HEARD IT!! First thoughts....it's like a big budget movie that falls apart in the end ...i.e i don't really like the last two songs. But the rest was pretty damn KILLER! So again....i urge you to keep trying!

@ Superstooka: Well hello there mr. ticked vinyl man! I really feel for you man! Both of you!

don't understand anything here, today and tonight.
if this is a double picture post - sorry!!!
but the post that I made one hour ago is not here anymore.

    ok. again.

that's me, with COTF and tickets from the four gigs I'll attend this autumn.

    (nice idea, un chien)

will be anyone so kind to post me personaly a digital version from COTF

My first thought as i heard that COTF will be a vinyl only release was: cool. It’s 2009 and these guys celebrate their 20th anniversary with a vinyl only release, that's a statement. Lucky that i own a record player. But i would like to download a losless version with a code which i want to find in the record, because for me it's a lot of work to digitalize it. Especially to cut the tracks is my problem. I use audacity at this moment, works great, side a will be finished in a few minutes. Any suggestions how to split the recording into tracks with audacity?

My second thought as i heard that it will be a vinyl only release was: what's with all the fans who don't have a record player? I love vinyl and i only buy vinyl if possible and rip it by myself into a-side and b-side. But if i weren't in vinyl anymore what would i do now? Buy the LP? Hm, yes, if i could get a digital version of it, but this isn't legally possible in this case.

Desperate fans like superstooka posting pictures from themselves with the LP to get a chance to listen to what they have paid for. On the one hand funny and on the other hand sad. I would like to know what MP thinks about that. Another wordfull statement from the guys after the wordless statement to release it on vinyl only (without a download code)would be very very appreciated.

    Just my 5 cents.

Sorry for my english, in german i would have written more.

I would go for Steinberg Wavelab, for both ripping and cutting songs. Much more user friendly (if you are a PC user that is).

My 2 cents regarding your post: i think that the fact that they released COTF only on vinyl (for now - who knows what the future wil bring) is statement enough ;). Becides....if it's a dream of Bent (or the band) to release a vinyl only album, then i think they deserve to do so, after 20 yars of hard work! What thought that lays behind it all, be it a statement against piracy, a plea to get vinyl back on the market, or simply just realizing a dream, shouldn't matter. They've earned the right to do this! And if ppl really are that eager to listen to the record, i suggest that they stop bitching, and start being creative. Cus it's not exactly science.

To me it's not statement enough. By the way, how can i put a picture to my profile? Wavelab, hm, i will have a try if it's for free but i guess not, or?. This will be a long night for me i guess if i want to listen to COTF on my bycicle tomorrow:o(

@gbd: I think the vinyl only thing is a 'cool' idea and one that could only come from mp, which is one of the reasons we all thing they are such a great group of artists. of course they deserve to do so, but it does not help fans like me, who are not vinyl freaks, do not own a record player and do not intend to buy for this recording only...does not mean I don't want to listen to the album and should have the ability to do so.

So, again: if someone can please upload a digital version of COTF I will send a check to Rune Grammofon (can't give it to the band personally as I don't think they will be playing in Australia anytime soon...)

    cheers

    Hi,
I am able to digitalize vinyl into MP3. I did with ”Ohm´s Concerto for Auto+Soprano Saw” from Angels and Daemons at Play yesterday, because I like to hear it on the iPod! And it sounds great with a few small scratches from the needle!
It´s a song that is only on the vinyl version of Angels and Daemens at Play.
    BUT....
There must be a reason that MP releases a Vinyl ONLY Album, so I am not sure if a digital version of COTF should enter the internet.
I don´t want to be the one to blame!!!

Totally agree with NoerglKong. But hey, we live in a digital world, and the most of MP fans probably don't have vinyl players, so I feel that it's a damn shame that they can't get to listen to this fantastic album.

It´s a damn shame not to have a record player for Vinyls, I think!
MP always had fantastic Double Vinyls or Vinyl-Boxes like Timothy´s Monster with awesome Booklets and stuff.
This alone is a good reason to have a record player. And it sounds better in my opinion. Think about it.

So, how do we handle this analogue-katastrophe? I would spend the MP3 for a good purpose, but this should not be
some kind of a piracy-thing. As I said: Don´t blame me!!!!

    just one thought:
other forums close topics or erase posts just because people talk about that stuff you are all suggesting here !
this is no "call to arms/moderator" - just take a minute to think about it...

whatever the reason was for releasing COTF only on vinyl - and even if a downloadcode would be cool/the way to go/whatnot - it didn't happen.
so stick to what you got - a new record of your favourite band !
and if you don't own a turntable or you can't manage to digitize it - well guess who's to blame ?

sorry if this sounds harsh - i don't wanna be.
i just generally think that just because things are possible means that they should be done (goes for a lot of things in life).
so if this is vinyl only - then so shall be it.

    amen
