And I thought this would be a thread for posting all of our favourite 2008 records... but well, it may become one? Anyway, awful few records in that list I listened to, I have to admit. But I voted for MP, surely.

Motorpsycho - LLM : 12
Beck - Modern Guilt : 10
Portishead - 3 : 8
Stereolab - Chemical Points : 7
Dungen - 4 : 6
Radiohead - In Rainbows : 5

Is redux versions allowed too? If so I'd like to put Beck's Odelay, Pavement's Brighten the Corners and Air's Moon Safari on top!

My list is something like this:

1) Motorpsycho - LLM: 12 (not love on the first listening, but after the spring-tour I fell in love with the Suite and Sunship)
2) Dungen - 4: 10 (I think they get more professional from record to record - The hamonys on this one are amazing!
3) Moriarty - Gee whiz but this is a lonesome town : 8 (the best indie-folk-band with female singer I've ever listened to! Every song has a unique feeling to it - I highly recommend them: [www.myspace.com] )
4) A Silver Mt. Zion - 13 blues for 13 moons: 7 (I went to a concert without knowing any songs - at first I thought that I dont like Efrim's voice, but at second sight I began to recognize the emotions in his screams and whispering - and the song-structures are genius!)
5) Calexico - Carried to Dust: 6 (didn't listen to them much before this year and this release has nice songs, but it doesn't work as a whole album for me - e.g. Garden Ruin is more a complete piece somehow)
6) Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds - Dig, Lazarus, Dig!!! (didn't listen to him aswell before this year, this was a nice start, great songs and lyrics and the sound of the instruments is somehow different from everything I heard of him before)
7) The Notwist - The Devil, You + Me: 4 (also a couple of nice songs, but not overhelming)
8) Fleet Foxes - Fleet Foxes: 3 (till now, I've listened to this once, but the singing and the harmonys are incredible smiling smiley
9) Hypnos 69 - Eclectic Measure: 2 (I dont even own this album grinning smiley, but I heard 3 songs here: [www.myspace.com] - I HAVE to order this, sounds a lot like King Crimson of course, but I like it anyway)

disappointment of 2008:
Mars Volta - The Bedlam in Goliath (I like their debut album and the second one - Amputechture was mediocre (good and bad songs) and this one is sh...)
PJ Harvey - White Chalk (OK, it was released in 2007, but when I heard it I thought "oh, no", because I love almost everything PJ ever released, but this is not my cup of tea...)

newest discoverys:
Everest - Ghost Notes - The first song of the album "Rebels In The Roses" is the most beautiful song I heard this year! Have to listen to this album a couple of times more often - The band members are from different bands (e.g. SEBADOH!) and play a nice mixture of folk-rock and other stylese - listen to the album here: [www.vaporrecords.com] )
Des Ark - Loose Lips Sink Ships - An album from 2005, but they played live near where I live and the concert was worth every penny winking smiley [www.myspace.com]

Old stuff I fell in love with this year:
Eric's Trip - Love Tara (93), Forever again (94) and Puple Blue (96) This is all they ever released - E.T. became a favorite band of mine, at some points the sound really reminds me a lot of Timothy's monster by M.P. winking smiley
Elliott Smith in general
PJ Harvey - Dry (her best album in my opinion!),
The Dresden Dolls (both albums have their peaks),
Änglagård (WOW!);
A Perfect Circle;
Blonde Redhead (I like the first 2LPs, even if it sounds a lot like Sonic Youth smiling smiley
Love - Forever Changes (this must be the main influence for Phanerothyme or am I wrong?!)
