Hi all,
I went to see Motorpsycho in Bodø yesterday and it was just awesome. The venue
was packed, it wasn't big takes about 300 people. No opening act.
When the intro of PsychoNaut was screaming out the speakers (it was a sample
Killer started), MP entered the stage, and they all grabbed their instuments and
started playing with the sample. Snah and Geb managed to do that well, but Bent wasn't
that lucky, because when he played the first chord his amp got fucked up and he couldn't
use it. His Wah-Wah was ruined too. He had to use an amp that belonged to the venue.
Snah improvised and started to sing Combaya My Lord (the KFUK/KFUM song) everyone
joined in. He changed the lyrichs but I wasn't able to hear what it was, to many
people singing it with me. Then afterwards people started to sing Nothing to say,
and Snah played to solo for it at the same time. And then we all sang spiral, spiral,
spiral, spiral... and Snah and Geb joined in. And after two minutes of that spiral,
spiral thing they were ready.
They kicked off PSYCHONAUT... And moved on to YOU LIED. Really amazing. Then
they played SUPERSTOOGE, which was long and wierd. STG was good, like always, and
the end of it was a long improvisation that was not like the record version, of course.
Then they played TAIFUN, and a really impressing version of HEARTATTACK MAC.
The middle part of it was Geb playing the Glockenspiel. A really strange part of
the song, and they increased the intensivity of the song a lot. And it suddenly exploded.
But that was probably not a big shock.
FLICK OF THE WRIST was one of the best songs this concert really amazing. It
was supposed to be an extra number. OZONE was much better live, than the record-
version. Just so raw, pure blues fun. To follow up that song they did a very rapid,
raw and fun version of YOUNG MAN BLUES.
HEY, JANE is one of the best songs on the new album, and it worked just so good
live. Every part of it was so cool. For the people who've heard it. In the end Bent
is screaming: "Hey, Jane". This part was just so cool live too. Small details make
things even better. Man I have just got to say this one thing: "Bent is a god playing
bass".
And they played HOGWASH. This song was very cool, and Bent proved once again
that he is a-hell-of-a-bass- player. They went offstage and , came back two minutes
later, and played VORTEX SURFER. Just amazing. Can't be described with words....
I have a friend who got to talk to Bent. He said they wasn't pleased with the
sound equipment and so on,
this ruined their mood...
(The concert lasted for maybe one and a half hour to two hours)
