Schon eine verläßliche Tradition ist es, zu jeder MOTORPSYCHO-Single, in diesem Falle "Starmelt/Lovelight", die Bänder noch einmal abzuspielen und aus dem scheinbar unerschöpflichen Materiallager der Norweger noch ein bißchen mehr unter die Leute zu bringen. So hat sich inzwischen ein unvergleichliches Dickicht aus gleichberechtigten EPs angesammelt, jetzt verstärkt durch die "Starmelt EP", die neben der THE PIE-Coverversion von "Up Our Sleeves" (deep in Rock!) drei Songs enthält, die ohne weiteres auf "Angels & Daemons At Play" gehört hätten. Das Vierspur-Wunder "Wishing Well" hört nach fünf Minuten auf, und das ist eigentlich schade, könnte es doch für immer durch den Raum hoppeln - es hoppelt wirklich, aber süß! Wäre "Flick Of The Wrist" nicht epische neun Minuten lang, hätte es als nächste Single durchaus Chancen, den Kessel des Retro-Zuges neu zu feuern (merkt Ihr's: ich will unbedingt zitiert werden!). Am Schluß erkämpft sich Gebhardt schließlich mit "Instamatic" Gehör und stellt ein weiteres Mal unter Beweis, daß er eigentlich mal mit TOM WAITS zusammentreffen müßte.

It has become a reliable tradition, with every MOTORPSYCHO-single, in this case Starmelt/Lovelight, to replay the tapes once more, and to pull one bit more out of the seemingly bottomless amount of material of the Norwegians. Meanwhile this way, they have built up a unique 'wood' of equal ep's, which has only been fortified by the starmelt ep, which, besides THE PIE-cover version of Up Our Sleeves (deep in rock!), contains three songs, which no doubt could have been placed on Angels & Daemons At Play. The 4-track miracle Wishing Well stops after 5 minutes, which is in fact a shame, cause it could have hopped on for ever thru space - it does hop, but gently! If Flick Of The Wrist hadn't been 8 epic minutes long, it could have been succesful as the next single to speed up the retro-train (Did you notice? I want to be quoted at any cost!). In the end, Gebhardt finally acquires some attention with Instamatic and proves yet again that he should be playing with TOM WAITS some time.
