Innanzitutto una domanda d'obbligo: come possono coesistere, in voi, così tante differenti forme musicali? Come riuscite a farle combaciare con tanta naturalezza?
E' lo stesso motivo per cui molti ci chiedono come mai siamo personaggi così schivi, così fuori dal mercato discografico, così maledettamente indi- pendenti anche all'alba del 2000. Ed è lo stesso motivo per cui i nostri fans, ai nostri concerti, si stupiscono positivamente della nostra disponibilità.
E forse è lo stesso motivo per cui io ancora mi stupisco che mi chiedano queste cose.
La musica, la nostra musica, la musica di tutti, è una comunicazione. E forse in un mondo globalizzato, è uno dei pochi momenti, di vera comunicazione, di vera libertà di movimento attraverso messaggi concreti. I MP sono liberi. E crescono con la musica che ascoltano.

In particolare Let them ... sembra più solare, più aperto, meno distorto. Stati d'animo. Semplicemente stati d'animo.
Forse anche riscoperta di un periodo musicale abbastanza in ombra, come quello della musica progressive. Sicuramente ed anche quello del movimento cantautorale intelligente, dei cantori, forse anche dei menestrelli. E' un disco probabilmente più pop, ma non nell'orrido senso che la gente attribuisce a questo termine.
Una musica popolare, per il popolo, per la cultura popolare e dalla cultura popolare. Esattamente, senza con questo voler fare nessun tipo di affermazione politica o sociale. E' un lungo sogno, una lunga discussione sul mondo irreale, quello che talvolta ci salva proprio dal mondo reale.

Quale ami di più? Fatichi a coesistere con la modernità?
No, anche se preferisco continuare a vivere nella mia terra, facendo le mie cose e pensando al gruppo. Non ho bisogno di molto altro, credimi.

Questo riavvicinamento al pop, o questo momentaneo approccio, ha coinciso anche con la pubblicazione su vinile di Welcome To The Infant Base dei Soundtrack Of Our Lives. Un gruppo molto pop nella visione psichedelica del termine.
Esatto. Non è una coincidenza! Li amavo già quando erano Union Carbide Productions e ho avuto la possibilità di poter pubblicare questo disco. Non ti dico che stavo pensando a loro quando abbiamo registrato Let ..., ma quello che avevo dentro era in sintonia con le loro idee.

In the first place a due question: how can coexist, in you, so many different musical genres? How can you succeed in joining them together so naturally?
This is the reason why many people ask us how we can be so reserved, so outside from the record market, so damned independent also to the dawn of the year 2000. And it is the same reason for which our fans are positively astonished of our availability during concerts.
And perhaps it is the same reason for which I am still astonished when people keep asking me these kind of things ... Music, our music, everybody's music means communication. And perhaps in an overall world, it's one of the little moments of true communication, true freedom of movement through concrete messages. The MP are free. And they grow up with the music they listen.

In particular Let them ... seems to be more solar, more open, less distorted. States of mind. Simply feelings.
Maybe it represents also a rediscovery of a musical period till now in shadow, I mean that of progressive music and also the rediscovery of the singer-songwriters movement and of minstrels. Probably it's a more pop record, but not in the awful sense that people attribute to this word.
A popular music, music for the people, for the popular culture and coming from the popular culture ... but not with political or social implications -- it's a long dream, a long discussion about unreal world ... about that world which sometimes saves us from the real world.

Which world do you love more? Do you have any difficulty to coexist with modernity?
No, I don't ... even when I prefer to continue living in my country, doing my things and thinking about my group. I don't need anything else, trust me.

This approach to pop, this momentary approach, has coincided also with the publication on vinyl of Welcome To The Infant Base by the Soundtrack Of Our Lives. A real pop group in the psychedelic meaning of this word.
Exactly. It's not a coincidence! I loved them already when they were Union Carbide Productions and have had the possibility of publishing this record. I don't mean I was thinking of them when we have recorded Let..., but what I had inside was in tune with their ideas.
