11/11/2003 Entry: "Hej! Motorpsycho is
here"
As I am not yet finished foisting my
overwhelming obsession with The Bear Quartet onto the
citizenry of Planet Parasol (The Bear Quartet’s 11th and 12th
albums, ‘Ny Vag’ and their most recent ‘Angry Brigade’
respectively will both be available before December) it seems
strange, even unhealthy that I would be poised to foist yet
another supernaturally prolific and challenging Scandinavian
rock outfit onto to your respective plates… Yet, that is what
I’m about to do. I’d like to introduce Norway’s Motorpsycho,
who formed their unholy alliance in the late eighties and have
been releasing albums at an alarming rate ever since! Their
sonic palette runs from the ultraviolet to the infrared, from
raucous rowdy rawk to egen-splicing jazzist jams to pristine,
pensive pop. They are prog and proud.
Check out my staff pick this week (Jared will
fix it Wednesday) for Motorpsycho’s most recent album,
released in 2002, 'It’s A Love Cult'. I mean who can resist a
song entitled “Uberwagner, Or A Billion Bubbles In My Mind”?
Not me! Not you! I rest my case.
And be sure to check out the other available
Motorpsycho catalog, three albums and four EPs since 1999.
Brilliant, bedazzling psychdelic rock and proggy orchestral
pop. Lemme know how you like it there's another decades worth
of the harder stuff out there as well.
