Have to agree with supernaut, the new QOTSA record is a beast. Not an angry beast, but a delicate, mature, and yes, sexy, beast. A sure contender for album of the year IMO.
On another note, check out O'brother. Just something I stumbled over. The 2011 record "Garden Window" is simply stunning.
Do not judge the song on the first few minutes, sit it through! what an ending!
I really like the bass work on this. a little traktorbass feeling.
Don't worry about sitting on the balcony. Saw The National sitting on the balcony (3rd floor far on the left side) a few years ago. Of course it's pretty far from the stage, but great overview and sound was friggin awesome.
Astra is pretty cool. On another note, a completely different genre, but still – a recent favorite of mine is White Denim's "D." (I think I read somewhere that this is one of Bent's favs last year)
