AIL he said, then he watched Glocksee 1996 and stood baffled.
…Alain Johannes
I'm just using this topic to point out this upcoming biopic about the man who's been involved in so many outstanding projects and bands and albums while being somewhat of a shadow figure: https://www.laweekly.com/music/alain-johannes-on-his-unfinished-plan-10097536?fbclid=IwAR0GG5-LFQbP-JOdedrW860kIyedkjnqE_2rgwg3GqQD0PZiMOQCOsJttJM Don't know if his work on The Tower will be mentioned but it should be more than just a little bit interesting nonetheless.
25.05.2019 – CH Lausanne, Les Docks
one and only swiss show, but I'm happy to get the one. After three shows in november I thought we were spoilt and the swiss cheese mountains might get skipped next time.
Critical Mass 2017-10-26 8O just watched it, floored.
Bartok, something always feels kind of odd during the verses. It doesn't thrive as much as on record. I think it's because of the tempo and the half-time groove. It feels like the handbrake is stuck.
Manmower and AIL, there I prefer the unextended album versions. The whimsicalness of the first and the atmosphere of the latter work better on the album for me.

no mentioning of a capo.
Lux Aeterna & Victims Of Rock & Bernie shot the whole thing with 5 cameras
it's christmas time!
thx a lot! very interesting.
Tempted to go to Vienna. Been there once and found it an amazing city.
Sounds like a single album then. But that's ok considering "dense", "far out" but still "focused". And if (or rather since) Lux Aeterna is anything to go by, then woah woah woah.
…and (early!) Genesis?
they used the term "Supersonic Scientist" in the lyrics to Supper's Ready and they both share the love for pastoral 12string guitar arpeggio stylings. Barleycorn for example would kind of fit Nursery Cryme, though of course that song also draws from 70s prog in general. Just bringing it up because I went to see The Muscial Box last night, a canadian tribute band focusing on Peter Gabriel led Genesis, with authentic costumes and vintage instrumentation and they're quite good.
btw I've just read Guided By Voices' Robert Pollard is a fan of early Crimson and Genesis. So much for indie blinders. It's what I admire about Motorpsycho: From Jazz to Country to Classic Rock to Indie to Prog, they're open to everything and boil it to this psuper psoup of great taste.
haha no old wounds. just a thing I've experienced. and maybe the indie police was especially outspoken in the "supercool" zurich scene.
nice, thanks.
I've found Bern was the grittiest, dirtiest out of three swiss shows. 10 mins of strobe lights in Chien made my eyes bleed but I guess that is what light speed traveling is like. For unexplicable reasons and only by margins I also enjoyed Winterthur the most. Thankfully they refurbished the place with a bigger stage and took the view obstructing pillars out and have installed some great lighting. Made the band look really big.
yes it was messy a few times in front of stage due to some drunks. Girls molested? Didn't notice that but it's shameful, especially considering the far left attitude the Dachstock is supposed to stand for. I've always found the Reitschule and its surrounding to be a tense, slightly uncomfortable place (got harassed by a drug dealer with a water gun to my head for some fucked up fun on my way there), but the concert room is really great.
