      CD sounds good. Haven't checked the vinyl yet. But I'd still have the drums a bit louder and crispier. An issue for me since LLM.

      The album starts to grow on me. The songs feel less focused as others so it demands more listening. Doesn't really make sense though since the more sprawling TDDU had me from note one. But maybe that one had more attention to focus and detail despite of its overall madness.

          hello Max

          i suggest you suggest montreal's jazz festival directly to the band, there's a contact adress somewhere on this board. Or you try to reach them through stickman-records. Wouldnt want to estimate the chances, though. Seeing them live is worth a trip to Europe, preferably during a proper tour and not a big festival, so you can see them when they're allowed to play their monster 2,5h sets. :)

            The last section of mikeplanes' review pretty much sums it up for me. I like the album a lot but I'm not jawdropped amazed in the same sort as I was by LLM or TDDU but that's completely ok as it would be quite impossible. It's a different beast coming from a different place. This is the loose follow up to some serious work indeed. The singing does easily equal TDDU, though.

            I share some of Bes feelings about the emotional impact but I am not disppointed by any direction they're taking, because I prefer the adventure. I do miss the great catchy songs they're so brilliant in writing at like Starmelt, Smell, Evernine, Phaseout but they haven't gone lost since Geb left. There was Ozzylot, Hoofed, CotF and Hyena and many many more on BHBC. It's just a matter of time until songs like these reappear and let's not forget about the possible release of the Eggplant's outtakes. And if one craves for Like Always and Windborne, they still play those live. The greatness of this band is built on NOT writing Blissard parts II to XIII.

                  first listen:

                  Not floored (yet) but it's a great album nonetheless. Can't compare it to any of the others. Not to COTF, not to Blissard (as I suspected due to the addition of a 2nd guitar player). A bit Barracuda maybe due to its live character in that quite celebrating manner. Oh since this music is obviously played and recorded live, I deeply respect this grand album only for that. I wonder how many takes they took?

                  Fave so far must be Barleycorn with its Nursery Cryme/Foxtrot charm and a very motorpsychountypical verse. Snah has become an outstanding singer! And the Peter Criss "Alive!" style drum roll towards Ratcatcher's end is funny and super cool. Like that. Afterglow is beautiful. For Hell I'm a bit sad they omitted the freaky second half of the Dog Parade version.

                  I'm a bit puzzled about the sound. Since LLM they've become a bit mushy on record. It's all there and audible despite being so dense. But I'd still wish for a bit more clarity, especially in the drums. Trust Us and Blissard sounded super (-b and crispy :mrgreen: ).

                      @le chien:

                      yes i didnt quite think of doing the math. i still wonder if the artist could prevent amazon to offer songs individually beyond the matter of money. as an artist myself, i would have it this way. "here's my bulk of work kids, take it or leave it as a whole."

                        couldn't help reading BECAUSE i haven't got it. :lol: oh well…

                        for some reason i'm a little bit sceptical about this album. i suspect it to be a bit too "traditional". i hope to stand corrected.

                          Question: on amazon it's not possible to download the inividual eggplant tracks. They're all "album only". So how much say has amazon in this? I do suspect that the (indielabelled, at least) artist has complete authority on this, but I'd like to know…. That would be great by itself and of course by Motorpsycho if they set that so then.
