Yes, it’s on Discogs – but I was interested in the specific versions included in Becoming MP. Well, I’ll wait for it to pop up (or for the boxes to arrive …)
Those who have already received it: any specs regarding the tracks on Becoming MP?
Can’t find it on Apple Music … Still waiting for the record to arrive …
Exactly the four songs from the DB box, hardly half an hour of music. Shame …
Ordered both out of a reflex – although I'm feeling extremely disappointed. Several reasons for that:
– adding Demon Box to the box set makes no sense – it just makes it more expensive (and what a cheap explanation: "included in this box set simply because it's essential for the period and the collection wouldn't be complete without it." – well, most fans' collections are complete without it …)
– why not include the Rut 7" as a standalone instead of putting it on a compilation? Wouldn't that actually contribute to making collections complete?
– the "box set" is in fact just a slipcase (no booklets, no nothing …)
– Communication: Will there be standalone releases of the EPs, Lobo and Soothe? I assume Rune will announce it only after the 2,000 box sets have sold out.
Plus, judging from the short clip on Rune FB:
– the Blitz is only 5 out of the originally played 10 tracks, makes it a meaningless record altogether
– the EPs look like they are 12", which is a bit lame considering 10" is the band's standard for EPs
And the pricing, well, truly ridiculous! Paid roughly 300 Euros for it, that is a lot of dough for the few gems that can be found in the box sets.
A missed chance, for sure.
well, last September the band announced the reissue of Lobotomizer, remember? On Instagram it said: "@runegrammofon will release a newly remastered and reassembled edition of the original album next year, as it was intended to be heard. here’s to 30 years!"
I guess that is one of the two sets, right?
Nice one from Süddeutsche Zeitung (Germany):
Quote:Contrary to what people everywhere like to claim, indie rock is not dead. It's just been hiding in Norway for a while. And all those who now claim (and, okay, not entirely wrongly) that it's about the same thing haven't been to a Motorpsycho concert yet. There would have been plenty of opportunities to do so before the pandemic, the prog-stoner-rock band founded in Trondheim in 1989 toured the world tirelessly, but of course not at the moment. Instead, with "Kingdom Of Oblivion" (Stickman Records/Rune Grammofon), there is now the 24th Motorpsycho studio album, and that is a very good substitute for the time being. For example, you can immerse yourself in the viscous and screaming power of "The United Debased" or in "The Waning Pt. 1&2", which is a heavily driving, stoic riff monster on the one hand and an elegiac, psychedelically echoing falsetto-chorus meditation on the other. Whereby the Motorpsycho secret is, of course, that neither blasé prog sauce nor prepotent hard rock and certainly not nervous show-off metal emerges, but rather Motorpsycho music. Led Zeppelin for grown-ups who also love minimalist meandering Krautrock and slow-motion thundering drone and are more interested in the hypnotic force of a heavily dragging electric guitar riff lowered a few octaves than in any sawing solo show-off. Inexplicably, actually, Motorpsycho is still the least known of the few really significant rock bands of the past 30 years.
German version can be found at sz.de.
the point of no return's finally passed
pushed over the edge
equilibrium's offset at last
here out on the ledge
earth's homeostasis
we're losing races
the waning has begun
no choice for anyone
this can't keep going on
insect-like we've taken over
a predatory kind
bite the hand and fix it later
a one-track hive mind
earth's homeostasis
still losing races
the waning has begun
no choice for anyone
this can't keep going on
children children fight your corner
you'll need a new home
boldly go where none have ventured
new spaceships in chrome
from homeostasis
to survival races
the waning has begun
no choice for anyone
soon this will all be gone
… to be honest, I'd be happy to download the leaked album if I knew where to look for it. I really can't wait to listen to the new music, I just can't. Will buy the album anyway, like I always do. I actually think leaks don't have a big influence on album sales in mp's case …
postage on this gem is really neck breaking …
does anyone know if the light fantastic will also be sold via mighty stickman?
does anybody know if the record is already on sale at the gigs?
THE CRUCIBLE
in the hours before the fire rained down
and turned the evening into day,
all was quiet, all was so serene
and all our thoughts were far away
with our loved ones, with our families,
a future in a better world
with the hope that this would all make sense
our hearts jumped when the flags unfurled
not a breeze, not a breath, not a sigh
all so tense, all so scared, all stand-by
we were young immortal patriots
proudly marching off to war
in our mind’s eye we were heroes all,
we couldn’t see what lay in store
we all saw ourselves on battlefields
proud, with tombstones in our eyes
not in this muddy hell of hopelessness
pawns just waiting ‘round to die
not a breeze, not a breath, not a sigh
all so tense, all so scared, all stand-by
what a waste, what an awful aftertaste: a travesty embraced
soldiers cry but still wait around to die, believers in the biggest lie
the never-ending awe-inspiring endless nameless grind
the smell, the mud, the hope you never thought you’d have to find
the endless drone of shelling every day and every night
and knowing only more wrong ever could make this be right
you keep your head down
and pray to god and hope he hears your voice
through drumfire roaring
that makes it feel like your head will explode
you see your brother disintegrate and rot before your eyes
you dream of home and you wish you were back there all safe and dry
the barrage it left us deaf and blind,
I never heard the whistle blow
but I followed where the others lead,
alive with patriotic glow
in a dream machine guns opened up
mowing like the devil’s scythe
I saw my peers, my generation fall
in that mud I watched them die
not a breeze, not a breath, just a sigh
all so tense, all so scared, all would die
to hope, to pray, to wait around to die …
no breeze, no life, no breath,
all gone, all gone, all dead
LUX AETERNA
we die alone
we are sentient then we’re bone
numbers and a name on a gravestone
it ends today
take the pain away
there’s nothing left for anyone to say
the end is grey, an emptiness
that allows our grief to coalesce
and makes the sorrow harder to suppress
we live our lives, we sweat and toil
then shuffle off this mortal coil
and leave our worn out flesh beneath the soil
but when we go we are released
our disagreement all appeased
we’re memories just floating on the breeze
and hopefully our souls are all at peace
love me and set me free, I’m all I will ever be,
I’m only me
only now and only here
no five-year plan and no career
strip the noise away and make it clear
only this and nothing more
a multiverse still left to explore
the big release will open up the door
and take away the pain forevermore
universal now
not you, but a part of all
please take a bow
love me and set me free, I’m all I will ever be,
I’m only me
eternal light
pure and clear and bright
to light our way and help us through the night
it ends today
take the pain away
there’s nothing left for anyone to say
love me and set me free, I’m all I will ever be,
I’m only me
PSYCHOTZAR
it’s not paranoia, we all choose what to believe
if you don’t understand it, you’re easy to deceive
we pick our stories, no two tales are same
follow the money,
ignore the smoke, but look out for the flame
cop a feel
make a deal
shit is all too real
put your decency in storage or run it by the lord
it’s not a system, it’s a funny game where lies are ignored
I’ve got this anger but I don’t know what to do
it’s not paranoia when it turns out to be true
cop a feel
make a deal
now it’s all too real
when truth is of no consequence
learning’s trumped by sheer pretense
when greed, deceit and vanity meets
watch your back and count your teeth
vanity before the fall, face first smack into the wall
you don’t care,
but will what still remains ever be rebuilt again?
is this the point the future changed
and a new world order arranged?
who will pick up what you have gone and dropped?
will he succeed where you have flopped?
makes sense… but playing bbd & hbm2 as encores took at least equally long, right?
