Yeah, I was at Oslo Domkirke too. Ståle's improv was really cool, and when he played the Elephant9 song Hymne from the Dodovoodoo album at the end, it made for a nice climax. Snah's set was cool too, even though the sound became painfully loud every time he played the 12-string part of his 12+6 guitar. But he played some nice quiet post-rockish stuff as well, so it was well worth the hour and a half total.
Thanks for the info, welderboy. So this might've been the setlist?:
Year Zero
Nothing To Say
Cornucopia + Go To California (
TDDU Redux
Greener
On A Plate
Whiskey & Rock N' Roll
Starhammer
Burn (with Jo Henning from Deep Purple tribute band Come Taste The Band)
Order confirmed by a setlist scan on Facebook, thanks to Arne!
Quote:Regarding the expanded Blissard: If I remember correctly, they recorded almost an entire (and mostly unreleased) album together with Deathprod at Kunstakademiet in Trondheim in the Blissard period, I believe "Mad Sun" and "Wishing Well" stem from those sessions? I for one hope all that stuff will be released on the expanded Blissard!Yeah, they recorded a bunch of stuff at Kunstakademiet fall 1994. Only two of those (Mad Sun and The Ballad Of Pat & Put) have been released. Quote Bent from the Hey Jane EP lyrics page:
"recorded fall '94 at KiT (the art acadamy i Trondheim) along with other songs,of which only 'Mad Sun' have been released from this session. The closest we've come to a 'lost album', the other songs tried were : Stalemate,7th dream,Flick of the wrist,When the world sleeps (later cannibalized and used as the intro to 'in the family') & Black w'abbit (by the Alabama Kids).
And the day before, Ståle and Snah are playing solo sets in Oslo Domkirke as part of Oslo Jazzfestival. I'm attending that gig, and I'm guessing the keyword will be "experimental".
Have fun you guys attending Gvarv!
Quote:Soundboard of a MP gig – when was the last time? Do we even have another complete soundboard gig with Kenneth in the band? The only Kenneth show I know of that is soundboard is Bielefeld 2008. But that one had to be taken off Dime because the band requested it (possibly because Bent was selecting tracks for Roadwork 4 at the time)
Sounded like Snah.
Starhammer / Muffin Man with Andre Roligheten and Klaus Holm (both playing on TDDU) on saxophones!
Complete setlist:
All Is Loneliness
On A Plate
Nothing To Say -> Mountain -> Nothing To Say
The Hollow Lands
Through The Veil
Into The Gyre
La Lethe (ending only)
Mutiny!
Into The Mystic
Year Zero
Cornucopia w/ King Kong (?)(Zappa) & Go To California
Whiskey & Rock N' Roll
Starhammer / Muffin Man (Zappa) (with Andrè Roligheten and Klaus Holm on saxes)
X3 (Knuckleheads In Space)
Ah, that's where I have it from. I attended that gig (HAL's birthday)
Way more spaced out version tonight though!
Double post shite
Whiskey & Rock N' Roll (brand new song, according to Bent. But it sounds like a cover)
Yeah, but it was only the mainriff (kinda hard to spot). King Kong was one of Zappa's big jamming vehicles way back when.
Go To California too!
King Kong!
Yeah, it will be exciting to see which Zappa tune they cover. They've never covered Zappa live before AFAIK.
Loved that they used the ending of La Lethe to link Into The Gyre and Mutiny! together
Almost, I have my headphones plugged into the laptop, and volume on 11
Nothing To Say next.
